Summary
Etho doesn't believe in soulmates. Doesn't believe in fate, destiny or an invisible little string tying two people together indefinitely. It was ridiculous, maddening even to think of two people who were made for one another; made perfect for each other by the "universe's almighty will". With that being said, he had someone in mind that was pretty damn close. So when Grian threw them in a world where these soulbounds did in fact exist in a tangible form, where health and pain was shared with someone else, he sought out the person whom he thought was his match. Only to literally fall into the life of his actual soulbound.
It was Joel. And with that Etho cursed the universe for its twisted sense of humour.

Even though the other had been the one granted enhanced listening for that week, Ren’s ears were still able to pick up on the way Martyn’s heart rate suddenly spiked at his words. Blinking, Ren stirred, nudging Martyn in question. Martyn’s eyes met his, and Ren raised an eyebrow, “Are you okay?” He muttered.
Averting his eyes sheepishly, Martyn only tightened his hold on Ren. His gaze bore into the burning campfire as the emitting light shone from his eyes.
Ren blatantly stared, entranced by the patterns swirling in his pupils. Every part of Martyn seemed to have something to say, Ren noted—the soft tap of his foot against the stone floor, the tremble in his arm, the way his Adam's apple bulged as he swallowed nervously.
Ren wanted to learn every odd quirk of his, and be around long enough to memorize them.
