Joey knew the anchor fell into the water. He knew that Yugi was gone, because everybody kept telling him that. But he didn't know where Yugi had gone or when he would be back. Because of course he'd come back. He had to. How else was Joey supposed to give back the Millennium Puzzle?
In the meantime Joey would keep Yami company, because that poor guy sure seemed torn up about something.
Or; Yugi drowns at the pier, and Yami is left to pick up the pieces of his own broken soul and Joey's shattered mind.

Summary
