"I-it must be... the rejection symptoms again," she spoke with a labored breath as she put her healing rifle back on the table and collapsed into the chair. "A-and right after we defeated V'ehxness too."

Summary
Shuichi had been sick for as long as he could remember, and has recently resigned himself to spend his days confined in a hospital as the growing turmoil of the outside world quickly becomes too dangerous. His life is boring. He watches the news to pass the time, theorizing and marveling at this new group of vigilantes known as Ultimates try and save society from completely collapsing in on himself. Despite everything, a small part of him feels… almost lucky (almost) to be living in a world where something like actual superheroes seem to exist.
Until the changes start, anyway.
When an expected development in his health leads to the disappearance of his closest friend, Shuichi is forced to flee everything he’s ever known in an effort to find the truth. He finds himself thrown in the midst of a group of runaways that all seem to come from situations similar to his own, and his… somewhat unnerving new abilities may prove vital to the group’s survival as they’re faced with betrayal and deception at every turn.

Shuichi and Kaede Saihara have been married for multiple years now, and Shuichi is plenty used to this routine. Kaede practices her piano until dinner is ready, then the two lovers share a meal together. But tonight, Shuichi notices something off about his wife. She seems more on edge than usual, and is avoiding telling the full reason behind the piece she’s practicing. Most people wouldn’t even notice, but for her husband and the Ultimate Detective, these signs were obvious. This leads to a discussion of nostalgia and Kaede’s strong desire to see everyone again.
