“Perfectly fine. I’ll be good as new in a couple of days.”
“Good.” A moment of quiet on the other line. Shane could hear Ilya breathing.
“I love you so much. You know this, yes?”
“Of course I do. And I love you too. I’ll see you…” Shane had to consider when the next day they could visit would be.
"When you see me," Ilya supplied.
“I'll see you when I see you. Okay. Sure.”
“Bye, Shane."
“Bye.”
The Boxing Day argument doesn't happen, Ilya doesn't seek professional help, and he and Shane keep pretending everything's fine. In the last few weeks of the season, Ilya reaches a breaking point. After saving his boyfriend's life, Shane is forced to grapple with the broken pieces, figure out what went wrong, and try to slot everything back together again.

Summary
It's the first winter after Pitch's defeat. Jack is happy, he's not alone anymore, and his memories are gradually returning. But when a treasure hunt gone wrong puts Jack and Jamie in danger, flinging them through time and space, they find themselves on an island neither of them have heard of before. Jack's first priority is to get Jamie home safe, but Berk's inhabitants - human and otherwise - are certainly not making it easy.
Knowing they will leave Berk and the Vikings behind as soon as they know how to, Jack is not going to risk the pain of growing close to any of these people (or dragons, for that matter). But Hiccup Horrendous Haddock, wearing his heart on his sleeve, doesn't seem to want to take the hint.

Summary
Shane walks back into the living room now, a kitten yawn rounding in the back of his throat as he raises his linked hands above his head and arches his spine in a slow open that stretches the muscles. He drops his arms with a heavy exhale, a comfortable pull through his spine at the stretch and he eyes the empty couch.
His Ilya is missing.
Shane turns his head and muffles a yawn into his elbow, rolls his shoulders and scans the room, the now empty coffee table, and hears the soft thud of dishes in the sink over the music and uses the obvious clues to take himself to the kitchen.
