It’s raining, pouring down hard enough that Duke's own vision blurs with the pitter patter of the drops. Even the small alleyway awning isn't doing shit really to keep him dry and Duke lets out a bitter laugh. God he must look insane. He knows his nose is definitely broken and there’s a bruise forming on his face from talking a little to reckless at his new placement. But it was all good, he’d given as much as he got. He just has to make it past this storm. He just has to survive..
He hadn't even heard the footsteps approach, but the gritty voice snaps his attention and when he looks up the red fucking Hood is standing over him. He jumps back half startled and lets out an embarrassing yelp.

Summary
After Red hoods confrontation with Batman things in the alley go from the bets they've been in years to hell on earth. With the Bat brutally hunting down anyone associated with Red Hoods gang, the crime family and rouges smelling blood and entering a frenzy and the Bats total and complete disregard for they're lives the alley makes a decision.
They pack up and leave.
It takes a lot to faze anyone from Gotham and even more to faze those of the alley. But the Bat had done it, he'd showed the alley he hated them, removed they're only protection and hunted down people just trying to make a living. Dismantled everything the red hood had built to better they're home and spat it at them like it was something fowl.
So they left for different cities, Star, Metropolis, Central, bludhaven, Coast. Anywhere was safer than under the bats iron clawed rule.
Among those fleeing a small group of what remained of Red hoods gang fled cross the country to a silent city on the California coast. As far as they could get from Gotham without leaving the country carrying with them they're lives and they're gravely injured boss who one of them had pulled from the rubble of a warehouse.

So waking up in a Gotham alley is usually a bad thing, waking up not remembering your name is worse, waking up in a body not yours was terrible, but waking up as a digimon in fucking Gotham was just a stack up bullshit
Like what am I supposed to do as a digital angel in one of the worst cities in the dc universe

Twyla has had enough of her dad. She knows he's a bad guy. She knows he hurts normies just as much as he did monsters. She just hadn't had the courage to leave the safety of monster society to help ease the nightmares he spreads.
Then she found a stack of unread letters from someone she didn't recognize - Gotham City. Apparently, her aunt. Her aunt who has a lot of high praise for a lot of the normies living in her. This could be a good starting point.

Meanwhile, the bats are getting very concerned over this very suspicious child. And there seem to be a few more monsters living in the city than they had previously thought.

Bruce’s mouth quirks into a frown, “I’m sorry, I don’t know who that is.” Then he adds; “Is he in the Justice League? You’ll have to forgive me, I haven’t been keeping up with them like I used to. I used to finance them, I’m sure if I pulled a few strings…”
“Justice League,” Duke mumbles. To Bruce, he asks, “Is there no hero based in Gotham?”
Bruce gives him that oddly delayed stare and response again, and then barks out a laugh. “God, no. Can you imagine someone capable of managing Gotham?”
Or; Duke gets quite literally thrown into a reality where he seemingly doesn’t exist, and neither does Batman.
