Emrys gave a snort at that. “I am going to get a different tutor since I would rather eat my own shoe than have to spend another moment with you.” Arthur proclaimed and began to walk out the door going back to ignoring this inane boy for the rest of his time at Camelot University.
“There isn’t another.” Emrys absently remarked, stopping Arthur in his tracks.
“What?” Arthur turned back to face Emrys, who was wearing a resigned expression.
OR
Arthur, a nepo baby failing biology. Merlin, a scholarship nerd who does tutoring. Surely nothing could go wrong.

This wasn’t supposed to happen.
At all.
But Merlin could never help it, could he?
He just had to stick his nose somewhere it was never needed.
Now, he was suffering the consequences.
He’s been in this position before though. Many times. In fact, if he could recall the number of times he’d begrudgingly sat on this very desk, that had his initials carved from the amount of times he’s been there, he wouldn’t have enough fingers to put down. That includes his toes too.
Right next to him, sat Gwaine. Of course, triumphant marked his face. He seemed to enjoy this a lot.

Merlin's first term at boarding school gets off to a terrible start when a new boy, Arthur joins for the first time. They clash over everything; personal space, football and occasionally each other's existence. It's infuriating.
With a chaotic group of friends constantly dragging them into trouble, avoiding each other becomes impossible. As the weeks go by, Merlin starts to realise that people aren't always what they seem to show.
The question is whether either of them is willing to admit it.

'“Director?” Coulson called over the radio. “Directer Fury, do you copy?”
Instead of saying something like, ‘yes, agent, me and my assistant are fine, thank you,’ Fury responded with, “The tesseract is with a hostile force. I have men down. Hill?”
“A lot of men still under,” Agent Hill responded, sounding harried. “I don’t know how many survivors.”
“Sound a general call,” Fury ordered. “I want every living soul not working rescue looking for that briefcase.”
“Rodger that,” Hill responded.
“Coulson, get back to base. This is a Level Seven.” Fury glanced over at Merlin as he continued, “As of right now, we are at war.”
Merlin pursed his lips at that, looking back the way Loki had disappeared.
“What do we do?” Coulson asked quietly.
Fury lowered his radio slowly, staring out at nothing. “Will you help?” He asked Merlin, not bothering to face him.
Merlin bit his lip, thinking. Then he sighed, and squared his shoulders. “The prat would never forgive me if he found out I’d run off somewhere instead. ’Specially now he knows I can actually handle myself.”'

Summary
Someone in the Camelot (Merlin) has rooted out a spy on the council. This anonymous person (who is obviously Merlin) put this accusation into a long letter, full of evidence from a thorough investigation and infiltration of the spy's circle within the staff. Arthur is remarkably impressed with this mystery detective (again, Merlin) and becomes set on uncovering their identity.
Merlin didn't think things would get out of hand. He only wanted to get rid of the spy publicly and legally, so he forewent the magic and decided to conduct a counterintelligence mission for months to gather evidence the old-fashioned way—like anyone would! But suddenly Arthur is searching for him, and magic or not, he learned a long time ago to stay in the shadows.
George is so tired. It is so obvious. King Arthur is disappointingly unobservant, and George cannot take this much longer.

In the wake of killing Carleon, Arthur realises that this is not the sort of King he wants to be. So he asks Merlin how he knew about Agravaine, and to his surprise, Merlin gives him an extremely sound and well researched set of arguments, that he promises he has the physical papers to back up.
