“You know I’m retired now,” Pete is about five seconds away from telling Stebbins to fuck off.
“Not in the field. This is a little more…delicate,” Stebbins’s words have Pete sitting up in his bed, slowly waking up with nervous anticipation.
“Okay, I’m listening,” Pete might as well hear the man out. He’s fucking awake now anyways.
“We have a rescued omega here that needs some place to stay,” Stebbins sighs heavily, “but he’s fucked up, McVries. I don’t know what the hell his owners did to him, but he won’t eat, he won’t talk, he won’t fucking do anything. He’s just…empty. All we got was his name.”
“And what makes you think my pack should take him in?”
“Because you’ve already rehabilitated two omegas and a beta,” Stebbins isn’t wrong, it’s just that each rehabilitation is emotionally draining. But Pete still can’t turn away anyone who needs help.
