She had done the right thing. The thought kept ringing in her head as she sailed away from Tenebrous Isle, beaten, bruised, and hated. She had done all she could, but it still wasn't enough. Doubt and frustration built, but she knew that road would lead nowhere but pain and resentment. No, she would find a way to make things right, to clear her name and those who helped her, no matter what she would make things right. New friends, old enemies, and burgeoning emotions as she claws her way up from the lowest point in her life towards fixing the many lies and betrayals that plagued the land.

Odette had a comfortable childhood. Everything had come easily. She was a natural artist and musician and was quick to learn other subjects like math and language. Her life had been wealthy, but simple, exactly how she liked it. But it didn't stay that way. After the sudden murder of her father, Odette has to learn to live with the fact he's gone, and more importantly, find out who did this.

Calmo, si girò e spostò lo sguardo sulla superficie del mare.
Un lieve vento si sollevò, increspando la superficie dell’acqua, e mosse le candele.
Il giovane inspirò, poi espirò, godendo dell’aspro effluvio del mare. Gli sembrava di essere libero da uno stato di apatia…
I suoi sensi, prima ottenebrati dalla pena, si erano acuiti, pronti a cogliere qualsiasi stimolo esterno.
Fissò lo sguardo sui ceri, che, sfiorati dal vento, si allontanavano verso occidente, simili ad una flotta, palpitante di luce dorata.
– Arrivederci, amici miei. – mormorò il giovane.
Osservò per alcuni istanti il mare, poi girò le spalle e si allontanò a passo rapido dal porto.

A quel suono basso, ma dolce, la sua resistenza si era infranta e le lacrime, prive di controllo, avevano inondato le sue guance.
– Grazie... – aveva sussurrato. Quelle parole, d'apparenza semplice, avevano lenito le sue angosce.
Kyam si era mostrato capace di andare oltre la sua maschera esuberante e aveva accolto la sua amarezza.
Lo aveva stretto tra le sue braccia, senza domandargli nulla.
E, per lunghi, eterni istanti, erano rimasti immobili, stretti in un abbraccio, accarezzati dalla luce argentea delle costellazioni.
