About a hundred times over. After the mess that was "Agents of MAYHEM", Zinyak took over Earth anyway- leading Gat to have to defeat Satan all over again, thus prompting God to recreate the Earth (again). Since then, the Saints have managed to come together again. And again. And again. But maybe- this time will be different. Maybe, if they only had help from someone from the outside, they can all break this vicious cycle.

Of the topics from Saints Row 2 I can't stop revisiting in fic, Carlos' death is in the top three. It has to be something haunting; even for the most callous of Bosses.
In this fic, my boss Ellis is experiencing just that, reliving the moment over and over in dreams. Johnny too, gets to experience it whether he wants to or not (at least in that Ellis wakes him up and needs soothing back to sleep, something Johnny is particularly good at.) This is set shortly after the end of Saints Row 2, so the question remains: is there something to the 'haunting' outside of Ellis feeling haunted by his actions? Depends on who you ask out of the two of them.
TW for mention of some of Carlos' injuries in some detail; not overly graphic but Ellis does speak of it bluntly and grimly.
This fic fulfills 900 words for day 9 of 10 days to 1k, and the prompt 'piercing.'
