Dagda didn’t lose a word about this of course, but Custas isn’t stupid. His last school had the paint peeling from the walls, outside and inside; a trash can in the front yard that had combusted at some point and left a molten mess; and a prevailing stench of cigarettes as soon as you reached the front door. But it also most importantly, didn’t have an elevator.
But this is a fancy school. A school for kids with money, kids with two real parents, kids who can afford to be in a wheelchair. Kids that aren’t him. So it’s not gonna work out. It never works out for him, except for some reason Dagda is hopeful, smiling more, sleeping better. He looks less exhausted than Custas has ever seen him since the accident.
Custas needs to be less of a burden for Dagda. This school might be their financial ruin but Dagda wants this, so Custas needs to try.
