'Tim took a step closer, voice softer than pony had ever heard it, “Golly kid, Dallas and Cade are alive. They're tough. It takes a hell of a lot more to kill ‘im than that. They're just at the hospital gettin’ better.”
Pony's head whipped up to look at Tim, “No they ain't! I done seen ‘em die with my own eyes! And if.. if they was alive then someone would've told me..” 'Or Ponyboy is having a rough time. The sickness he had during the rumble got worse and lasted 2 whole weeks. Darrell, concerned for his brothers health and stressed with medical bills, may or may not have forgotten to mention that Dally and Johnny are alive and well and pony suffers for it. He winds up at the shepards house just to find out curly (accidentally) ditched him. That one thing triggers a spiral and now its up to Tim to fix the Curtis gangs problems for them... again. Probably with force. If he breaks his hand it well have been worth it.
This was meant to be a one-shot but when I got to 5000 words and I wasn't even halfway done I decided to make chapters. NOT SOLELY TIMS POV

Ponyboy Davis is not a Curtis. He is also not a Davis. His real name is Arthur Palm. And he's an ex cult member. The cult was the Rising Cross cult, a religious cult. Ponyboy's role? Sacrifice.
Ponyboy didn't want to be a sacrifice, so one night he ran. And ran. He notified the police, who notified the FBI, who notified... whoever comes next. Until Ponyboy ended up in witness protection.
And he was placed with the Curtis', who were threatened into it. If Darry didn't take Ponyboy, Soda would go to a boys home. They didn't know of his origins, all they knew was his cover story. That he was a JD.
Since apparently the cult wouldn't expect Arthur to be a hoodlum.
Fic is hopefully better than summary.

Bill cleared his throat. “Earlier this morning your brother was found on Eastwood street. Do you know where that is?”
Darry nodded sharply. Eastwood was closer to the west side, where most of the middle class lived, not quite Socs, but far from Greasers. Darry has warned Pony about going to the west—to stop going to the movie theatre over there.
“Two young men found your brother there, he seemed to have been involved in an incident.”
“Is he alright? Where is he?” Sodapop's voice was higher than usual. He gnawed at his lip, a nervous habit he and Ponyboy shared.
The older man’s eyes were softer when he next spoke, voice clear. “Your brother was transported to Saint Francis hospital via ambulance after sustaining multiple stab wounds. That’s all the information we have at the moment.”

When he’d last spoken to him, he was being arrested. Gritty men with unshaved faces and stern looks hidden behind glasses, their bitterness manifested into the ice that lined the handcuffs. He remembered how Curly’s face twisted into a yelp, like when you step on a dog's tail, when the wintry metal met his warm, fiery hands. His hands were always unnaturally hot, itching to do something with all of the energy pent up in his skin. Sometimes, if Pony looked closely enough, he could see him twitch.
Pony thought about how much he would be twitching now, stuck between slabs of freedom and incarceration in the thick walls of the reformatory. Cold concrete and scarred, scowling faces probably lined Curly’s vision. Unempathetic adults were probably shooting looks like bullets, like flare guns into unenthusiastic skies, bright flares of desperation into voids of callous indifference. Now that he thought about it, the boy was probably twitching like an addict who’d lost their cigarettes.
Curly's back in the reformatory. Promises were broken, relationships were strained. Will they be strong enough?
