Once on Tatooine, Obi-Wan, now going by Ben yet again, is met with reminders of his past. Between the Mandalorians continuously pestering him and Tatooine's underground slave resistance, his life may yet still have purpose.

Beru Whitesun is absolutely, positively, in no way whatsoever, may the double suns burn her bones to dust so help her, in love with that grump of a nerfherder Peli Motto. Beru’s a sensible woman after all. A respectable, poor-as-dirt widow. She keeps a clean house and a clean kid and even a clean tongue. Well, at least when it comes to talking to other respectable-type people. Like herself.
She’s not some lonely heart-sick teenager overcome with foolish passions. Not like Jala next door, poor girl, letting the water in her cup dry up under the afternoon suns, her head stuck in the sky. No sir. Not Beru.

Beru Whitesun loves Luke Skywalker. Really, she does. Fully and completely. To both the suns and back again. Twice. She doesn’t have the smallest smidge of doubt. She loves that child more than she loves having her own days, and she loves having her own days an awful lot. It’s just a little hard to remember why she loves him so much when he’s sitting in the middle of their tiny room screaming his kriffing lungs out for no good reason.
Beru knows in his four-year-old-standard mind he must have plenty of reasons to wail, but she’ll bet her karking days that none of them are good.
Or
Beru and Luke have a bit of a rough day, and Beru contemplates their place in society following Owen’s death.
