Summary
The war with Gaea was over and Jason had decided to stick around and help with the fallout. He’d been on a routine monster clean up looking for some stray Empousai. He didn’t expect to find Ma Gasket and her sons, Sump and Torque.
The worst part? They were organizing a monster mafia, with Ma as their ringleader.

Safe to say he’s not handling it very well.

Summary
When Jason and Percy spar, it’s dangerous. It’s violent. It’s powerful. They don’t hold back and they give it everything they have.
Regardless, they try to make sure they don’t actually hurt each other. Unfortunately, injuries tend to sneak up on you no matter what you do.
Today was one of those days.

Summary
Jason froze at the sudden sound of crying.
He set the drink tray on the table, taking a seat, but no one noticed—everyone was staring at the newcomer. He frowned, turned his gaze to the door, and his eyes shot open faster than someone who’d just had an adrenaline boost.
It was a blonde woman, no older than 30, stumbling into the cafe while clearly intoxicated. She reeked of alcohol, her hair was messy, and every step she took looked like it would be her last. Jason felt his entire body go rigid—she looked so much like Beryl—but then he noticed the little boy behind her. He was blond, likely her son, and sobbing. There were tears streaming down his face, snot dripping from his nose, and he was beet red.
The woman yanked him forward, bending down to get in the kids face. “I said shut it. We’re in public.”

Summary
He doesn’t want the questions. The pitying looks. The half-hearted promises she won’t be able to keep.
(Even if she’d try her best—has tried her best. Jason doesn’t want to be a burden.)
He looks around and thought of his friends. They’d all managed to build something these last two years, something real, something meaningful. Something beyond the prophecy.
Jason? He was still standing outside the window, forever looking in, forever a stranger even among his peers.

Summary
The rod struck, and a shriek tore out of his throat before he could stop it. Some people winced, some people looked away, there was a younger kid crying somewhere in the background.
Jason’s body shook in the chains, every nerve raw and flayed, every inch of him exposed in ways he never thought possible.
Cameron twirled the iron rod in hand (and Jason wanted to scream that he wasn’t a cheerleader and he needed to stop doing that—), before looking Jason up and down with a small hum. “God, if only you could see yourself…”
Hard pass. He’d probably end up puking like the other campers.

Summary
He could still feel Tempest beneath him, the storm. Could still hear the last thing he said to Apollo, Piper’s screaming. Could still imagine Apollo’s look of horror and Piper’s devastation.
He could feel the arrows. The spear. Sharp. Sudden. Tearing through muscles, piercing bone, ripping through organs. He remembered falling, falling, falling—
He remembered landing on the wooden deck. Dazed, winded, hurt.
He remembered the spear, yanked out of his back before driving in again, mercilessly.
He remembered the blood on his face.

Summary
“Not real.” He whispered desperately, ignoring the way his heartbeat pulsed in his eyes, the way every part of his body felt like molten lead coated in molasses. “Not real not real not real not real—“
There was a hand on his shoulder and Jason flinched, his stomach lurching with pure terror.
“I heard you were alive..” Caligula said, right next to Jason’s ear. His voice bounced around his skull like a distorted record. Every sound was purposeful, coated with venom and caressed with poison. “How disappointing.”

Summary
“GUYS!” Someone screamed. Too close, too close, go away— “Stop fighting. You’re freaking him out.”
Someone touched something on his side and gods, it hurt. He let out a whimper, trying to curl in on himself. This was too much—everything was too much. He could still smell the acrid stench of sweat and blood, feel the dirt and grime covering every inch of his body, could hear their breathing, talking, shifting. Everything felt like a knife in his ears, stabbing and grating. He wanted it to stop. He wanted everything to stop.
He felt something, a hand on his. Real. Firm. Warm. He let out a choked noise, wounded and raw.
“Jason?”

Summary
He thought he’d been careful, living peacefully, trying to please the gods.
He should’ve known it wasn’t enough.
(But in the end, it was all worthwhile, wasn’t it? He’s earned his stripes, hasn’t he?)
Even if he’d die, everyone else would live. Even if he wanted to claw open his chest, cry, scream until his voice was hoarse. He wouldn’t. He’d die knowing he did it with dignity.
(Even if the knowledge felt like a festering wound, killing him from the inside with every passing day. He ignored it—he had to.)

Summary
Jason went to protest but Percy was already up, grabbing Jason’s wrist to haul him out the door.
His bad wrist.
He yelped, ripping his arm out of Percy’s hold in seconds. He was already cradling his arm when he realized what he’d done, his face paling to the colour of paper within seconds.
Percy just stared at him. Confused, worried. His eyes drifted from Jason’s face down to his wrist, then back up again. He pursed his lips, clearly debating whether or not he should ask or leave it alone.
“You okay?” He ventured slowly, and Jason could see the gears turning in his head, the dots starting to connect.

Summary
He was an outsider, but instead of being put on a pedestal by himself, he was grouped together with the 7 and held at their feet. He wasn’t singular. He was another member in a quest he never wanted to be apart of.
Things only got worse when the war ended. Jason wasn’t Greek or Roman enough to fit in anywhere, he wasn’t special, he wasn’t the best swordsman, he wasn’t the most powerful.
He was mediocre. Old news. Stagnant in all the wrong ways.

Summary
“Hey, you’re the kid who came back to life, right?” The demigod said, his voice a delicate mix of curiosity and amusement. Jason paused what he was doing—mentally preparing himself for the inevitable—before nodding, briefly glancing around at the dozen or so campers milling about.
Look, he wasn’t fragile or anything, but sue him if he didn’t want to talk about it. Yeah, he died, was it so hard to leave it in the past?
“Shit, man.” The camper said, giving Jason a once over like he’d disappear at any second (to be fair, he very well could, he didn’t know how these things worked.). “How’d you die?”
Jason would’ve blanched, but he was far too used to this question by now. Instead he sighed, barely holding back the urge to roll his eyes. “Oh, you know, I was speared to death by an undead Roman emperor.”
Usually, that was enough. The blunt delivery. The deadpan expression. Most people left it at that and moved on. Unfortunately for Jason, this camper wasn’t like most people.

Or, a camper won’t stop hounding Jason to see his scars, even if Jason says no
