Summary
Sneaking cautiously to the center of the bookshop, Loki doesn’t see his cat anywhere. The sunlight from the asscrack of dawn it is outside makes everything reflect hues of pink and purple, the street outside devoid of cars and eerily quiet.
What he does see is a couple of unconscious men in dark combat clothing on the floor, next to his next-door neighbor: a stocky man with an unshaven look around him and scraggly brown hair, strewn on the ground amid broken glass shards from Loki’s window (oh god, his poor window), like a snow angel out of its element.
“What the fuck.” Loki hisses, backing up and grabbing the closest available defensive object, which is a hardcover copy of War and Peace. Good, now he can club the burglar over the head with 1869’s largest piece of literature.OR:
Human AU, but only Loki is the human one. Also he owns a bookshop. Also, he sucks at talking to cute men.

Thor caught him and yanked him back onto the penthouse ground, slamming Loki by the shoulder into the hard floor. Loki scowled, and he reached a hand out to telekinetically snatch the Scepter. It began to levitate, flying toward his open hand.
Thor had held his hand out for Mjolnir as well, the hammer lifting into the air and shooting toward him, because he couldn’t let Loki cramp in his style like that.
The Scepter arrived first, into Loki’s crazed, scowling grip.
And the tip of it pressed to Thor’s chest.OR:
Thanos grows desperate as he sees that Loki is losing, so they move to their last resort. Thing is, Thor is not very easy to break.

It started when Thor woke up covered in a sheen of sweat, his blankets shoved off the bed. The air was sticky, like an Asgardian summer. Across the room, it looked like Loki had fared no better during the night, his dark hair damp with sweat and long limbs starfished across his cot as he lay belly-down. He sighed when Thor sat up on the other bed.
“It’s just going to get worse, isn’t it?”
Thor nodded.———

Henry puts his hand to the arrow shaft, grasping it with fingers slick with his own blood.
He holds his breath to yank it out.
“I wouldn’t do that, if I were you.”
Henry stills and looks up.
There’s a boy in front of him, around his age, bent on one knee to meet Henry’s failing height. He has inky dark hair, and he’s dressed in black and green, with thick fabrics that clearly show his winter-acclimated status. His face is calm, regarding Henry’s new, bloody accessory with a sort of vague interest.
‘I care…why?” Henry responds, about to pull an arrow from his skull and he’ll be damned if this strange fellow tries to stop him.OR:
Loki just shows up sometimes in history. One time he ends up at this little battlefield in Wales, and sees a sixteen-year-old prince stumble away from the fighting with an arrow plunged into his head, narrowly missing his brain, and decides to help him out.

This is so chaotic.
There’s too much going on, and Loki tries to figure out if he should make a run for it or not when the silver case that was in Kevlar Man’s hand slides across the floor following his fly across the room, clatters to the ground, and tips open, spewing its contents out onto the tile.
The Tesseract rolls away and stops just a few feet from Loki. He stares down at it for a long second. It’s close enough that if he moved to the side, he could easily bend over and grab it. He looks up to make sure no one is watching him.
But they are, there is someone staring directly at him, and Loki’s blood runs cold.——
Loki keeps seeing things. Thanos never left his head, and the voices and images grow until they become deafening.

“What?” The center of attention asks. They turn around in a circle, boots clicking on the cobblestone harbor, and each time they lock eyes with someone, that person scrambles behind a friend, or gasps, or winces. “What? Is there something in my teeth?”
The crowd is at least six feet away at the closest spots. Some students are making faces, like children putting their heads between the bars at a zoo. Crude expressions and chill laughter.
A blond man elbows himself forward, and finally reaches the front, just as the stranger turns around.
Loki’s hair is dark, thick, and softly curled. His eyes are sharp with polished intelligence. A clean-cut suit of pitch black with a long, witchy overcoat, he’s all angular style and tall, lean frame. But from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet, the nails on his hands, there is something so incredibly peculiar about him.
He is blue.OR:

“When—on the Bifrost,” Loki runs a hand down his face. Thor is closest, and he thinks he can see it shaking. “In 2011, before I came to Midgard—no. No. I’m doing this all wrong.” His movements are jerky and his hand fidgets with his palm, the hem of his shirt, a coil of hair. He glances up at the ceiling for help, and takes another very horrible gasp of air.
“Let me…” Loki moves back to the couch, and yanks a Starkpad from one of the cushions, one he had borrowed from Tony that morning. He swallows, typing on it and swiping across the screen.
Loki looks up, glancing at the crowd, and makes a gesture on the screen of the Starkpad. A large holographic diorama of a very familiar-looking cube floats into the center of the room.
“The Tesseract,” Loki declares to no one’s surprise. What does make Thor react is how he immediately adds: “Also known as the Space Stone.”
Thor is starting to see where this is going. He doesn’t like it. He doesn’t like it at all.OR:
A totally non-canon-complaint AU, and this is when Loki finally has to confront his demons.

Summary
Loki slits his neck and dies.
But sometimes…sometimes that’s not how the story goes.It only felt like seconds, but he awakens with an odd sensation that it has been much longer. To the reader: the only thing this can be compared to is victims of the Snap being brought back to life. An odd disorientation, where you don’t quite fit in the pocket of air you’ve been inserted in.
But that couldn’t have worked here, because Loki has ensured that the Snap will never happen.
As long as he’s dead, the universe is safe; Thor is safe.So…Thanos un-deads him.

Thor had been here enough times that the lady at the front desk who sat behind the box-dye girl knew his name, offering him coffee in between her typing on the computer, which looked so old it had to have been from roughly 1996.
Pudding cups. Why would Loki take pudding cups? He’s lactose intolerant.
He stops pinching down on the side of the paper, and smooths out the crease his hand had absently been making, letting out an explosive breath from his nose.
The door up in front of him clicks, and it opens. Thor looks up.
Loki, the scrawny little git, still in those baggy black jeans their mother hated, walks out with a cop’s hand firmly on his shoulder.OR:
All-Human AU. Loki is a high school student and Thor is in college. Loki has kleptomania. It’s time that Thor learns to accept that, not try to erase a part of him that won’t stop existing.

“I think you should just add a conclusion. This seems fine to me,” Thor lifts up the last paper and finds that there’s even more writing on the back, which progressively gets smaller as he runs out of room. The end is a blur. That’s probably where he had fallen asleep.
‘No, it’s not,” Loki snaps, and takes the papers from Thor’s hand. He picks up the quill left on the desk, and mutters under his breath, scratching off one of the lines.
“You need a break,” Thor informs him.
“No, I need to finish it. There isn’t anything in here about the proper way to greet a noblewoman of the Vanir in an Alvish ceremony. It’s all wrong—“
“Loki.” Thor frowns at him. Loki’s hair is still a mess, and one of his legs is bouncing slightly. He has deep bags under both his eyes. “You need a break.”
