"They warned me about you," he said, accent prominent but it was only fear slurring his words, "they said you were not the same in the night as you are in the day. I laughed at them, told them you were not the Man Without Fear or the Punisher. But you--you are the same!"
Spider-Man just hums softly. He was a vigilante, so, you know, obviously not the poster child for dealing with emotions healthily by any means, so yeah. The comparison was fair in this case. Anger was hard to swallow for people like him, like them. The kind of people who knew that standing aside and hoping the police intervened before things got too bad wasn't an option. Because he knew that when you have power and bad things happen, they happen because of you. Because you didn't stop them.

She inspected his face for any lie before taking a slow breath and letting it go. “Then take this… this curse, and protect yourself and others. Take this curse, and come home. If you can promise me this, then I give you my blessing.”
He straightened and took a risk. “I swear on the River Styx that if I take the Curse of Achilles, I will do everything I can to make it home to you after this war.”
The sky rumbled and Nico looked like he wasn't sure if he should be happy or yelling. He settled on mildly constipated.
“Better to go sooner rather than later,” he pointed out, “because who knows when the fighting will actually start. We have what, four days?”

The war is about to kick off, with Percy's birthday so close. He has to come to terms with the fact that there's so few of them to defend an entire cite from an army of now just respawning monsters but also enemy demigods, some of which he knows.
This is going to suck.
