Summary
Odin took Loki from her and stared down at the small infant. His son would grow up to serve a very important purpose someday. One that would greatly benefit Asgard and Jotunheim.
A lasting peace between their people. There would be no need for the harsher and more costly methods of conquering in order to bring the Jotunn to heel. No more lives lost on either side. The Frost Giants would be under the leadership of one of their own people, but who would have unquestioning loyalty to Asgard and would ensure that they caused no future harm to any of the Nine Realms.
Finding Loki in that temple was clearly meant for a much greater purpose than merely adopting a child. He was meant for this. That is what the future held. A throne for each of his sons. For the good of Asgard.
In which Odin did not eventually set aside his plans for his adopted son. His love for the child is not enough to sway him from his plans. He is a better king than a parent. The child will serve an important purpose someday and must be ready for it. And Loki finds it even more difficult to grow up under the weight of these unknown expectations.

It had been the hardest thing that he’d ever done. Harder than spending centuries reliving the same handful of hours in order to learn everything possible from O.B., Victor Timely, and even Casey. Harder than mastering his ability to timeslip and manipulate time.
The hardest part was leaving. Walking away from that door while Mobius and Sylvie begged him to stop. Unable to give them a proper goodbye or embrace them before he did what was necessary. Not only would they have tried to stop him, but he honestly didn’t know if he would have the willpower to continue if he allowed himself that small moment. It had been painful enough when he looked back near the end, seeing his friends watching through those distant windows, and knowing that he could never have that again.
Wrapping himself in those countless timelines filled with infinite lives that were now truly free. Ensuring the survival of everything at the cost of an eternity of endless solitude. That was the hardest part.
That was his great and glorious purpose. The king of everything and nothing. Bound to a golden throne by metaphorical chains of an impossible responsibility that he freely shackled to himself. Alone and guarding eternity without end.

Summary
Loki had lost almost everything important to him, one way or another. His place in the timeline, his family, his sense of identity, his purpose, Sylvie... Even his first true friend was snatched away, along with the familiar version of the TVA.
But part of what makes a Loki was that they never give up. He would claw his way back and reclaim some of what was taken from him. So he searched through countless versions of the TVA until he found his way back to the right one. The one that had the right Mobius.
And if fate wished to steal him away in a more permanent way, it would have to fight Loki for him. He refused to lose anything else.

Summary
Loki's plans to drop Odin in a home for the elderly unfortunately get interrupted by Thor. During the ensuing fight, a magical artifact gets broken that wipes out Thor's memory of the past 300 years. Confused and disoriented, Thor battles the arriving Avengers and threatens to slaughter innocent mortals to the dozens as well. But Loki, afraid of alerting Heimdall to what was happening, persuades Thor to go with the Avengers peacefully. Thor agrees, but he naturally assumes that Loki would be part of the group as well, because -of course- Loki would always follow where Thor went, right?
So now the Avengers and Loki are stuck pretending Loki is also part of the group until Thor’s memories return. A totally simple plan with zero chance of anything going wrong. Really. Well, at least that's what Loki's trying to tell himself.

Summary
Despite having many chances, Loki didn't flee. He did not leave his brother or his people to perish while he escaped. He knew that when Thanos found him, his life was forfeit. His fate was sealed the moment that he failed to retrieve the Tesseract years ago. No tricks, no illusion, no lies, and no last-minute escapes. He couldn't save himself this final time.
Thor failed in so many ways. He failed to protect his people. He failed to save Heimdall. He failed to stop Thanos from murdering his brother. And then he failed to kill Thanos and half the universe was lost as a result.
When they failed to stop Thanos and so many lives were lost in an instant, Tony was powerless. He could only watch as the teenager who should've never been halfway across the galaxy dissolve in his arms. There was nothing that he could do. But when he and Nebula, in their attempt to limp their way back to Earth, find the site of a destroyed vessel floating in the middle of space with the bodies of the Aesir drifting in the vacuum, he remembers enough from Bruce to realize what they'd found. And he sees one face he recognizes and comes to a grim decision.
Sometimes you can't save everyone. But you can sometimes save someone. -
