Chapter Text
Kara’s a good sister, the best even.
She doesn’t have a single temptation to steal a drink from the smoothie she’d gotten Alex. She’d already finished her own chocolate milkshake, tossing the cup into the trash as she makes her way to an establishment she had never once gone into in her years of living in National City. Though someone with her type of physique would have to frequent this at least three times a week.
She ducks under the arm of a man holding the door open for her, smiling politely and thanking him. He flashes her a blinding smile, teeth newly bleached it would seem. When his eyes land on the Big Belly Burger bag, his smile turns to a frown.
“You know…“ he begins, looking awfully sanctimonious.
Kara doesn’t give him the time of the day, already spotting Alex at the designated weights section.
“Excuse me,” the receptionist says, a bored looking college kid. He holds his hand out politely. “Membership card?”
“Oh! I’m not a member, I’m just waiting for someone.”
“Sorry, you can’t go in without a membership. But we can sign you up today, New Year’s special, it’s an introductory offer.”
“No thanks,” Kara says, smiling. “I don’t need the gym.”
He hums, taking a respectful look at her muscles popping in her cardigan. “Really?”
Kara just nods. “Genetics.”
He whistles. “That’s lucky. Well, if you change your mind, it’s half off for the first 3 months.” He hands her a flyer. “Plus, we have much more amenities than just the workout stuff. Like sauna’s, massages, steam rooms.”
Kara takes his flyer.
“Maybe you should join the gym.” The man who held the door for her pipes up next to her.
Kara narrows her eyes. She’d all but forgotten about him. It wouldn’t do well to make a scene now and get herself kicked out of the gym. No. All Kara really does is turn away from him, looking inside the gym for any sign of Alex.
It takes her a moment longer to spot her, seeing that Alex is surrounded by women. Alex who’s demonstrating the right way to punch someone out. Kara snorts. Of course Alex would be holding an impromptu self defense session amidst all these women.
But then…one of the women touches Alex…and it seems to give an invitation for the rest of them to do the same! They’re marveling at her lean muscles, asking her about her workout routine.
Kara sees red when someone mumbles about asking for her number.
Well that won’t do.
In a mere second, she’s by Alex’s side.
“Hey!”
Alex blinks. “Kara?”
“I was waiting for you.” Kara leans in, holding Alex by the shoulders and kissing her temple.
“Sorry,” Alex smiles sheepishly. “Got a bit carried away. Let me just grab my bags.”
Kara looks as Alex bids her good bye and goes to the locker room. She smiles politely at the women who give her an appreciative look before walking off back to their own workout routines they’d abandoned in lieu of Alex.
“Ready to go?” Alex has her duffel over her shoulder.
They walk side by side, Kara slipping her hand into Alex’s hand before they leave. She sees some of the women pout and scowl as they part.
“I think I should join the gym,” Kara says as they get to Alex’s motorcycle.
Alex blinks. “uhh…you don’t need the gym though.”
“They have more things than exercise!” Kara lists off with her fingers. “Like massages, steamrooms.”
Alex laughs. “I don’t know if anyone’s strong enough for your muscles.” She taps Kara’s biceps before hopping on the bike.
Kara bites her tongue. Well if Alex doesn’t want her getting massages at the gym, maybe Alex herself should give it to her.
She buries her face into Alex’s neck as she sits astride the bike. They can discuss it later, after Kara makes her claim to all those over eager women.
