Chapter Text
Boden made the decision to cancel all the calls, considering it was not fair to Brian.
He was an excellent firefighter, but he didn't want to make such an arbitrary decision.
He thot it would be best to take Brian to see the doctor the next day, but before that, he decided to contact the clinic to speak with the doctor who treated Otis.
He found the cell phone number that was in the recommendation letter Otis had given him.
"Good afternoon, I am Sergeant Wallace Boden, Brian Zvonecek's supervisor." "How can I help you?" the doctor replied.
"I'm calling to ask if I can accompany Brian tomorrow, as I am quite worried about his health."
The doctor replied, "Of course, it would be good for someone to accompany him, as he mentioned he had no one."
Wallace explained to the doctor: "It's true, he doesn't know I'm going, so I hope to accompany him without him realizing it, he'll find out when he sees me there. Thanks for your patience, well, I'll be waiting here."
The afternoon at the station was quite calm, and Otis didn't seem to be sick.
Boden watched over him during the day. At the end of his shift, Brian headed home.
The next morning, Otis was undecided about whether to attend the clinic or not, but he ultimately chose to go.
When he entered the office, he found Boden. "Boss, what are you doing here?" he asked, surprised. "Did you think I would let you come alone?" Boden replied.
"It's better that you are present, boss, but I understand that you have a lot of work and are missing because of me."
"Don't worry, I've sorted everything out," assured Boden.
The doctor began to speak: "Well, guys, today's appointment is to start the treatment, and we will begin as soon as possible, maybe even tomorrow."
"What instructions should I follow to ensure that Brian's results are optimal?" inquired Boden.
First, avoid consuming alcohol.
You should also refrain from eating raw or smoked foods such as meats, fish, or seafood.
Do not consume unpasteurized dairy products, such as raw cheeses and yogurts.
Additionally, you should not eat raw or undercooked eggs, nor poorly washed fruits.
Stay away from sugars and junk food, as well as fried foods.
Also avoid tobacco and unboiled bottled water. You should not consume honey or spices like turmeric, garlic, or ginger, as they can interfere with your treatment and thicken your blood.
The food must be fresh, no leftovers from the previous day, and it is vital to maintain good hygiene and cleanliness of your items.
If someone is sick, avoid contact and do not expose yourself to crowds.
Since you mentioned that you have a bar, you shouldn't go, and if you turn out to be the sick one, clean everything you touch.
Dietary supplements and dental treatments are not allowed without my authorization, and avoid risky activities that could cause you injuries.
It is recommended not to lift weights, run, or engage in contact sports.
"Well, it looks like I'll have to stay home without eating anything," Brian replied.
"Boss, what will I do at the fire station?" You only tell me bad news; I know, but that's my job, so don't worry.
"But boss, thinking it over, I can't do that to the kids."
Changing your diet is complicated, as they told me I should eat more healthily.
Don't worry, no one will find out.
The doctor continued, "Brian, I already mentioned the side effects; if you want, I can explain everything to your boss."
"It's not necessary, he's already aware and I'll be on the lookout for any eventuality," said Boden.
That's it, we start tomorrow at five in the morning.
I only have one question: how long will this treatment last?" From six months to two years, and the cost will be ten thousand nine hundred dollars, this will depend on how your body responds.
"Thank you for all the information," said Brian. "Is it that expensive?" "Don't worry, Brian, I'll help you," replied Wallace.
