He had asked again, earlier today.Asked Monty what he did. Asked if he could fix it. Apologized, and apologized again.
Finally, Monty spoke to him. Hearing his voice made Will so happy, he almost didn't process what it was saying.
"You ain't Will. Quit pretendin' like I can't see that."
He knew he wasn't Will. He always did. Even while he was alive. What sort of person was Will? He wore Will's skin every day, saw him in the mirror, bore his name.
He never felt like himself.

Favorite Montresor/Will fic of all time! If you love feeling miserable, PLEASE read this fic. It is nothing but beautifully-written pain, and I'd also kiss my best friend and then die and then forget it all, just to read this for the first time, again. Unbelievably painfully realistic representation of living with mental illness! Unbelievably painful, realistic depiction of living with mental illness! Rooatgumpoint's interpretation of Will and Montresor's relationship is beautiful. If you like Nevermore, I'd absolutely recommend 'Living With Identities That Do Not Belong To Me'.
