Chapter Text

The Obsidian Lounge was dimly lit, reeking of expensive bourbon, velvet upholstery, and the chaotic pheromones of the city’s elite.

Gao Tu sat in a curved leather booth, swirling a glass of sparkling water. He was dressed in a blood-red silk shirt unbuttoned dangerously low, paired with dark slacks. He looked every inch the arrogant, untouchable Prime Alpha heir he used to be.

To complete the illusion, Tu had spent the last hour actively suppressing the oceanic depth of the Enigma mark on his neck. Instead, he was projecting pure, unfiltered, spicy Sage. It was sharp, territorial, and completely obnoxious.

Beside him, Ma Heng took a long, desperate drag of his scotch.

"I am begging you," Ma Heng groaned, rubbing his temples. "Please reel in your pheromones. You smell like a frat boy trying to start a bar fight. What are you even doing?"

"I am setting a scene, Heng," Tu smirked, his dark eyes scanning the crowded lounge. "It’s called roleplay. Keep up."

Across the room, sitting entirely alone at the polished bar, was Shen Wenlang.

The billionaire looked spectacularly out of place. While the rest of the lounge was dressed in flashy designer brands, Wenlang wore a stiff, perfectly pressed charcoal-grey suit. His silver-rimmed glasses caught the dim club lights as he stared intently at the glowing screen of his tablet. He wasn't drinking alcohol; he had a glass of plain ice water.

And his scent—painstakingly dialed back from the terrifying Enigma depth—smelled exactly like cheap, powdery, department-store Iris.

He looked like a boring, stoic, completely unremarkable corporate Beta who had wandered into the club by mistake.

"Look at him," Tu murmured. He shifted his weight, his eyes darkening with a purely manufactured lust. "Sitting there with his little spreadsheets. Acting like he doesn't own this entire building. It’s infuriating. I want to ruin his posture."

Ma Heng stared at Tu, then looked across the room at the most terrifying man in the hemisphere.

"Tu, you are a married man," Ma Heng whispered, utterly horrified. "That is your husband. You share a mortgage. You have a joint checking account."

"Tonight, he’s not my husband," Tu grinned, a wicked, bossy light flashing in his eyes. He stood up, smoothing down the front of his red silk shirt. "Tonight, he’s just a boring Beta who needs a real Alpha to show him a good time. Watch this."

"I would rather drink bleach," Ma Heng muttered, sinking lower into the booth.

Tu ignored him. He strolled across the lounge. He didn't walk quietly; he walked with the deliberate, arrogant swagger of a predator who owned the room. He let his Sage scent flare aggressively, parting the crowd of socialites and executives as he approached the bar.

Tu stepped up right beside Wenlang. He didn't ask for a seat. He simply leaned his hip against the barstool next to the billionaire, invading his personal space, resting his elbow on the counter.

"You look lost," Tu purred, his voice dropping an octave, vibrating with a smooth, manufactured condescension.

Wenlang didn't flinch. He didn't look up from his tablet. He slowly reached out, his long, pale fingers adjusting the frame of his silver glasses.

"I am perfectly aware of my location, sir," Wenlang replied. His voice was completely flat, devoid of inflection. The powdery Iris scent didn't shift by a single molecule. "I am reviewing the quarterly margins for a maritime logistics merger."

Tu let out a mocking chuckle. He leaned in closer, deliberately brushing his thigh against the fabric of Wenlang’s charcoal slacks.

"A maritime merger," Tu drawled, reaching out to carelessly tap the edge of Wenlang’s tablet with his finger. "In a club like this? You must be incredibly bored, Beta. Or maybe you’re just waiting for someone to give you something better to do."

Wenlang finally paused. He turned his head slowly.

Behind the silver lenses, his dark eyes were a flawless mask of clinical detachment. He looked at Tu’s unbuttoned red shirt. He looked at the aggressive smirk on Tu’s lips.

"My work is highly engaging," Wenlang stated mildly. "And I do not require a distraction. Especially not from an Alpha who is clearly projecting overcompensatory pheromones to mask an underlying biological insecurity."

Tu’s breath hitched. A jolt of genuine, electric heat shot straight down to his groin.

God, he’s good at this, Tu thought, his heart hammering against his ribs. The ruthless rejection was incredibly hot.

"Overcompensatory?" Tu scoffed, leaning his body entirely into Wenlang’s space, trapping the billionaire against the bar. He lowered his voice, letting a bossy growl slip into his tone. "I think you’re just intimidated. You smell like a pharmacy aisle, Beta. You’re sitting here in a cheap suit, pretending you don't notice that I could snap you in half."

"You are welcome to try," Wenlang murmured smoothly, unbothered. He took a sip of his ice water. "Though I calculate a ninety-eight percent probability that you would injure your own spine in the attempt."

Tu’s eyes darkened. The roleplay was working entirely too well. The arrogant persona Tu had adopted was actively clashing with the deeply submissive, reprogrammed biology humming beneath his skin. His body was craving the Enigma’s dominance, but Wenlang was refusing to give it to him. Wenlang was playing the boring Beta flawlessly, completely denying Tu the satisfaction of being overpowered.

It was infuriating. And it was making Tu painfully hard.

"You’ve got a smart mouth for a nobody," Tu whispered, his gaze dropping to Wenlang’s lips. "I bet I could shut it for you."

"My conversational boundaries are strictly professional," Wenlang replied, turning his attention entirely back to his tablet. He casually swiped to the next page of the spreadsheet. "If you wish to discuss freight tariffs, I have a fifteen-minute window. Otherwise, good evening, Mr...?"

"Gao Tu," Tu snarled playfully, his hands itching to grab the lapels of that stupid, perfect suit.

"Mr. Gao," Wenlang nodded politely, not looking at him. "Have a pleasant night."

Across the lounge, sitting in a private, elevated VIP section, Sheng Shaoyou swirled a glass of vintage red wine, watching the scene at the bar with morbid fascination.

Hua Yong sat beside him, wearing a soft cream sweater, sketching idly on a digital tablet. The protective Orange Blossom wrapped around the Omega in a domestic cocoon.

"They are completely unhinged," Sheng observed, leaning forward, resting his elbows on his knees.

Hua Yong glanced up, following Sheng’s gaze to the bar. He saw his brother leaning aggressively over Shen Wenlang, practically vibrating with frustrated Alpha energy, while the billionaire calmly read a tablet.

"Tu is just trying to get a rise out of him," Hua Yong smiled fondly, shaking his head. "He’s been planning this 'boring Beta' roleplay all week. He thinks he can break Wenlang’s composure."

"Your brother is an idiot," Sheng drawled, taking a sip of his wine. A dark, knowing smirk touched his lips. "He doesn't realize he walked right into a trap."

Hua Yong blinked, confused. "A trap?"

"Look at Shen’s left hand," Sheng pointed out.

Hua Yong squinted. Beneath the edge of the bar, completely hidden from Tu’s line of sight, Wenlang’s left hand was resting on his thigh. His long fingers were tapping a slow, methodical, incredibly tight rhythm against the charcoal fabric.

"Shen is an Enigma," Sheng murmured, a shiver of phantom terror running down his own spine at the memory of the banquet hall. "His entire biological imperative is to conquer. Having his mate stand over him, projecting aggressive Sage, demanding submission in a public space? Shen is absolutely losing his mind right now."

"Then why isn't he reacting?" Hua Yong asked.

"Because he’s edging him," Sheng laughed darkly, thoroughly enjoying the psychological warfare. "Shen is purposefully denying his own biology just to drive Tu insane. He’s going to leave him completely frustrated. It’s a masterpiece of emotional torture."

Down at the bar, the torture was indeed reaching critical mass.

Tu was practically practically vibrating. His thick cock was straining painfully against the zipper of his dark slacks. He wanted Wenlang to grab him. He wanted the Enigma to drop the fake, powdery Iris scent, pin him to the bar, and completely destroy his arrogant facade.

But Wenlang just kept reading the goddamn spreadsheet.

"Alright, that’s it," Tu muttered.

Tu reached out. He didn't grab the tablet. He grabbed Wenlang by the knot of his silk tie.

With a sudden, forceful yank, Tu pulled the billionaire off the barstool.

"Hey—" Wenlang started, his eyes widening in perfectly acted Beta surprise.

"We’re taking a walk," Tu commanded, his voice a bossy growl.

He didn't wait for a response. Tu dragged Wenlang by the tie, navigating them away from the crowded bar and down a dark, secluded hallway that led toward the private restrooms and service exits. The bass of the lounge music muffled their footsteps.

Tu shoved Wenlang backward.

Wenlang’s back hit the velvet-lined wall of the dark alcove. He didn't fight back. He allowed himself to be pinned, his hands hovering passively at his sides.

"You think you can just ignore me?" Tu breathed heavily, stepping completely into Wenlang’s space.

Tu pressed his body flush against his husband’s. He deliberately ground his hips forward. The aching friction of Tu’s rock-hard erection pressed directly against the center of Wenlang’s charcoal slacks.

Wenlang let out a perfectly acted gasp of discomfort. "Mr. Gao. This is highly inappropriate. I am a married man."

"I don't care," Tu smirked, his hands coming up to grip Wenlang’s broad shoulders, caging him against the wall. The roleplay was making him dizzy with lust. "Your husband isn't here. It’s just you and me, Beta. And I can smell how fast your heart is beating."

It was true. Beneath the flat scent of Iris, Wenlang’s heart was hammering against his ribs.

"You smell like cheap perfume," Tu taunted, leaning in, his lips hovering mere inches from Wenlang’s. "You act like a robot. But I know you want this. I know you’re dying for a real Alpha to take control."

Wenlang’s dark eyes stared back at him. The lenses of his glasses caught the dim red light of the hallway.

"I am not interested in your dominance, Mr. Gao," Wenlang said, his voice dropping slightly lower, breathier.

"Liar," Tu whispered.

Tu ground his hips forward again, rolling his massive, throbbing cock hard against Wenlang’s thigh. "Ah... fuck..." Tu let out an involuntary moan, his eyes fluttering shut as a jolt of desperate pleasure shot up his spine.

He was so incredibly wet. The False Omega biology, triggered by the intense physical contact with his mate, was flooding his briefs with syrupy slick. He needed friction. He needed Wenlang to take over.

"Touch me," Tu commanded, his voice cracking, the arrogant mask beginning to slip. He opened his eyes, glaring bossily at the stoic billionaire. "Put your hands on me, Wenlang. Now."

Wenlang looked down at Tu.

Slowly, deliberately, Wenlang raised his hands.

Tu’s breath hitched in anticipation. He waited for the punishing grip. He waited for the Iris to explode into the hallway and force him to his knees.

Wenlang’s long, cool fingers brushed against the sides of Tu’s waist.

They slid slowly down the red silk of Tu’s shirt, tracing the hard lines of Tu’s hips. Wenlang’s hands moved to the front of Tu’s slacks.

Tu let out a shattered gasp, his back arching, completely baring his throat. "Yes... fuck... right there."

Wenlang’s fingers traced the outline of Tu’s bulging zipper. He didn't squeeze. He didn't rub. He simply dragged a single, freezing cold fingertip directly over the heavy, sensitive head of Tu’s cock, trapped beneath the fabric.

"Ah!" Tu cried out, his knees bucking, overwhelmed by the tiny fraction of contact. "Wenlang, please... pull them down. Do it."

Wenlang’s hand paused on the metal tab of the zipper.

He leaned in. His lips brushed against the shell of Tu’s ear.

"Your biological response is certainly... enthusiastic," Wenlang murmured, his voice maintaining absolute clinical detachment.

And then, Wenlang pulled his hands completely away.

Tu froze, his eyes snapping open. "What?"

Wenlang smoothly adjusted his suit jacket, stepping sideways, effortlessly slipping out from between Tu and the velvet wall.

"However," Wenlang continued, fixing his silver glasses, looking entirely unbothered. "As I stated earlier, I do not engage with arrogant Alphas on company time. My spreadsheet requires completion."

Tu’s jaw dropped in horrified disbelief. His cock was throbbing so painfully it felt like it was going to burst. A string of slick was literally running down his inner thigh. He was practically vibrating with unmet need.

"You can't be serious," Tu choked out, grabbing the wall for support. "Shen Wenlang, don't you dare walk away! Look at me! I’m fucking dying here!"

"You appear to be in excellent health," Wenlang noted politely.

He pulled a pristine white handkerchief from his breast pocket, gently dabbing a microscopic speck of dust from his lapel.

"Furthermore," Wenlang added, looking at Tu with a perfectly blank, infuriatingly polite expression. "Curfew is at ten o'clock, Mr. Gao. I expect you inside the estate gates. Have a pleasant evening."

Without another word, Shen Wenlang turned on his heel. He walked calmly down the hallway, blending back into the crowded lounge, heading straight for the exit.

Gao Tu was left standing alone in the dark alcove.

He was breathing heavily, his chest heaving under the unbuttoned red silk. His dick was painfully hard against his zipper, entirely ignored. The aching frustration in his lower stomach was absolute torture.

He had completely failed to break the "Beta." The Enigma had taken the roleplay, weaponized it, and used it to leave Tu in a state of pathetic desperation.

"I hate him," Tu groaned, sliding slowly down the wall until he was crouching on the floor, burying his flushed face in his hands. "I hate him so much."

But as Tu sat there, panting and aching in the dark hallway, a dark, wicked, entirely feral thrill shot through his chest.

He knew exactly what was waiting for him at the estate. Wenlang was going to make him beg for it. The Enigma was going to make him crawl across the master bedroom floor to earn relief, and Tu was going to enjoy every single miserable, degrading, absolutely perfect second of it.

Tu pushed himself off the floor, hastily adjusting his painfully tight slacks.

He didn't bother going back to say goodbye to Ma Heng. He practically sprinted for the VIP exit, desperately flagging down his driver.

It was 9:15 PM. And Gao Tu was absolutely, under no circumstances, going to be late for curfew.
