Chapter 12: Are you ready?

Chapter Text

"Do I really have to go? Can't I stay here with you?" Harry blinks at me with dreamy eyes and hugs my neck tightly when we get back to school.

"I know you want to, Harry dear, but you can't, it was risky anyway that you weren't here last night." I explain, and he nods sadly. "Tonight at the usual time?" I ask before a sweet kiss.

"I'll be here!" He answers with a nod, then walks to the door and when I put my glamours back on he opens the door. "See you later, Professor Molvora." He smiles at me.

"Goodbye Mr. Potter!" I wave to him and get back to my boring teaching job. As the day goes on, all I can think about is Harry. However, at lunch, I think I detect a strange sparkle in the headmaster's eyes, which makes me try to use legilimency on him.

~ I have to do something! Harry can't fool around! He has to beat Tom! Maybe if I get Dolores to anounce it tonight, Harry will be so angry that he will come to me for an explanation and then I can strengthen my spell! Yes! I have to do this! The prophecy cannot come true! ~ It took a huge effort not to show my astonishment, but I managed to control myself and decided that I would not let Harry go up to the headmaster. After that, I went through the day with a stomach ache. Then dinner came, and the toad came grinning last into the Great Hall. After dinner, Dumbledore called the students to silence and asked Dolores to tell them the news.

"The Ministry made a decision last week that soulmate bonds would be broken during school hours so that they would not affect your academic performance." My eyes widen at the woman's words, I received a report from Theseus earlier this week on the affairs of the Wizengamot and there was no mention of that. As expected, the student body immediately began to object and even the teachers objected when Harry stood up.

"Teacher! I didn't think you were so stupid as to fight such an ancient form of magic!" He says with surprising calm, which I immediately notice that he has borrowed from me through the soulmate bond. "And I am disappointed in you, Headmaster! Leting something like that happen! How do you even imagine this?" He asks in an icy voice. "Tell me, Professor Umbridge, what would the public say if they found out that the Ministry separated Harry Potter from his soulmate?" He puts his hand on his hip, and the woman starts laughing.

"You don't have a soulmate, Potter! And you deserve punishment for your impudence!" She raises her wand at him and I see the end of the weapon start to glow. I don't even think when I use one of the teleporter spells I learned in Peru to get next to my partner and use my wand to summon a protective shield as I hug the boy, who immediately clings to me. The witch's magic bounces off the shield, and when the light disappears, we are surrounded by a large room of open-mouthed people. I look at the woman with a burning gaze, not even paying attention to my surroundings.

"Don't you dare touch my soulmate!" I hiss and the end of every word turns into a real hiss.

"I'm sorry Mercutio, but no matter what curse is on you, you can't be Harry's partner." Dumbledore's voice is heard, drawing everyone's attention.

"Why not? He's my soulmate!" Harry clings to me more tightly. "You say it as if you knows who it is!" My love cries out with tearful eyes.

"Believe me, Harry, I'm very sorry that you have to find out like this, but your soulmate is not at school!" He starts, but before he can continue, a red light rises from the floor by Harry's feet, the higher it rises the more tears flow down the boy's face.

"Impossible! The Heir of Gryffindor!" Minerva says in surprise, deception and relief in her eyes. I suspect that Dumbles lied to her about Harry too.

"Calm down, dear. I'm here!" I hug the boy completely, who closes his eyes.

"Mercutio, let go of Harry! You are not his soulmate!" Dumbledore looks at me with a blazing gaze as he slowly stands up.

"How are you so sure, Professor Dumbledore?" I ask directly, using the same emphasis that I used to use when I was a student.

"Because his soulmate is the Heir of Slytherin!" The most of the students still doesn't know who the Heir is, so I guess he chose this answer to divert suspicion from reality.

"I am the Heir of Slytherin!" I hiss between my teeth. "Right, little girl?" I glance up at the ceiling as I hold Harry closer to me. As soon as the question leaves my mouth, a green light flashes at my feet, first reaching my ankles, absorbing my glamours. "Whatever you planned with me went wrong." I say in a measured voice. "I know what you did then! Then Dumbledore tell everyone why today is happening!"

"I don't understand what you're talking about! Whoever you are, I'm amazed that you've taken..."

" You know who I am, Dumbledore! Don't play dumb! You made my life hell! You forced me onto the path I set out on! But if you really don't remember, let me refresh your memory. August first 1947! Do you remember that day?" I ask, my head held high.

"It was so long ago. How should I know?" He shrugs.

"He was born that day, wasn't he? The Headmaster created him that day. It all started that day and everything went wrong for him. It was the day that magic gave birth to Voldemort, wasn't it, Marvolo?" Harry looks up at me with sparkling eyes, and I smile and let the Hogwarts energies surround me to the top of my head.

"That's right, Harry!" I speak in my own voice. The flames slide down and I see the world around me again.

"Voldemort!" Dumbledore raises his wand at me, but then a sharp trilling sound fills the room and a figure steps out of the huge fiery red light from behind Dumbledore, into whose hand the Headmaster's wand immediately flies.

"Oh, Albus! It's not right to hurt the children you've driven into this fate! I told you your plan would fail! They're the heirs who will set the world in order! You were a fool, Albus! Soulmates can't kill each other! It's a good thing I'm not your soulmate!" The voice I know now as Gellert Grindelwald's, chuckles. "Avada Kedavra!" He whispers in a honeyed voice, then disappears immediately.

After the first bouts of panic, Minny immediately takes the reins and, citing us, kicks Umbridge out of the school, the teaching schedule will soon change. I'm given a new lesson, the Dark Arts lesson, I've cleared myself of Voldemort's actions, and in half a year the Death Eaters have transformed back into the political alliance they were originally supposed to be, working to maintain the balance of magic and keep wizards safe. Harry visits every night and we spend the weekends together at Slytherin Manor with Nagi. Today is one of those weekends, Harry and I are having breakfast when a phoenix suddenly appears in the room.

"Hello Geller!" I look kindly at the creature, who also takes on the wizard's form.

"Hello kids! So, what have I missed in these six months?" He asks, nodding his head to the side and grinning.

"Lots of things, right Marvolo?" My love giggles as he sits on my lap and motions for Gellert to sit down.

"We have thing,# to tell you, believe me!" I laugh when the man takes a seat.

"I'm already curious! Speaking of which, Fawkes says to tell your snake that there will be little snakes in a year." As he says this, Harry and I are both blushing. Nagini has been pestering us for almost three months to make her snakes to take care of. "Did I say something wrong?"

"N...no, no!" Harry chuckles with an awkward smile on his face, then starts telling him about the events of the past six months. Our lives are finally turning for the better, we found each other and put our world back together. From now on, I believe that only good things can await us, since we are here for each other. Fate made us for each other and I am sure that from now on it will only smile on us.
