The short and more relevant explanation considering we are discussing visual art: All elves have a genital slit which houses their penis when not in use and ends with a cervix and fully functional uterus. Their penises are longer than a human's on average, sport rows of sensitive malleable frills around the tip and upper shaft, and are typically retracted into the slit at rest but can be protracted at will or coaxed out with enough stimulation. They can only conceive during heats, but they can always sire. Here are some examples of that.

The longer and more complete but less relevant explanation: My elves are more animalistic than typical depictions. They are predatory crepuscular humanoids with deer-like ears, long tufted tails reminiscent of medieval unicorns, and have mannerisms much like cats. They are all one sex, so every elf has the same genital configuration and is capable of fulfilling both reproductive roles. This is not well known to the other denizens of Middle Earth due to their varying secondary characteristics (voice, fat distribution, facial features which all exist on spectrums between what humans consider masculine and feminine and vary between individuals) giving them the illusion of a bimodal sex distribution. Most elves do not have a preferred mortal gender label and adopt whatever gender the mortals they interact with perceive them as for practical purposes. They are primarily carnivorous, originally operating as pack ambush predators (similar to lions). In the distant past they used their resemblance to humans as a form of aggressive mimicry/lure. They still have prey drives, and mortals still instinctively recognize them as predators even though eating humans has been considered uncouth in Elven society since the early Second Age.

My long-standing headcanon is that, when Bard becomes Lord of Dale and is no longer malnourished due to poverty, he gains weight and goes from a scrawny street mutt to a more bulky build: visibly muscular, but not lean as he's not cutting down or dehydrating himself. A good amount of tummy. A dad bod, if you will. Thranduil is a very big fan of this.

I feel like most smut with trans men always ends up being a young, short, skinny, somewhat androgynous post-top-surgery guy, and he's almost always bottoming, and it's almost always vaginal penetration. And, to be clear, I don't have a problem with that, because I Am That, but I wanted something different so I made it. For me and my dick and also in tribute to all of the guys out there who don't have the same opportunities to access the healthcare they need, and guys who get forgotten because they pass too well. There is no one type of transmasculine body.

In Bard's case, he doesn't have the money for the surgeries he needs, nor does he have the time off to recover from them, but he has been on T for well over a decade continuously (and a few years prior to having kids when he was like 15-18). He has completely masculinized, and with tape on it just looks like he's never skipped chest day, so he passes easily and very few people know he's transgender. He binds with tape because the pain of getting adhesive out of his body hair is worth having a flat chest while he works long hours at a physically demanding job and being able to bind 24 hours a day for days at a time. He also got EXTREMELY lucky with bottom growth.
