    Summary

    Sound is vibration.
His breathing is a frequency I cannot filter out.

I have spent my life measuring the world in data.
    Every mystery yields to logic.
But his lips—softness that defies quantification.

    I attempt to play Bach.
My senses mutiny. My skin registers his gaze as warmth.
His breath, at ten decibels, drowns the Chaconne.

    An uncontrolled experiment.
The failure of every system I have ever built.

He asks what I am holding.
    I say: Bach.

    The truth is boiling longing.
The truth is: I have no music of my own. Only the noise I have spent a lifetime suppressing.

And he listens to the noise.
    He does not flinch.
    He reaches out his hand.

    This is not logic.
    This is collapse.

    His fingers on my face.
His tongue at the seam of my mouth.
    Distraction warning overridden.

    Command me to focus.
Look at me. Only at me.

    Almost biting our tongues.
The door unlatched. The bell that may ring.
Let it. I am no longer listening.

    Reason shrieks. Feeling burns.

    And, God—

    I really, truly love him.
