The tradition of the third night of Candlenights is gift-giving. For some this is an exchange with loved ones; in some regions, generosity and giving to the community is the focus, and those with means to spare will travel their neighborhoods and leave gifts of food and necessities. In turn, oftentimes those receiving the gifts will insist that the giver take some small hospitality, usually a warm drink.
