Chapter Text

  CHAPTER ONE:THE ENCOUNTER

Gotham was always a drab and dreary place to be living inbut tonight it felt especially wretched that night (She was undoubtedly crying because of the injustice that was suffered by one of her very own. And she saw that there had been no one there to interced for him.)

But that was not the issue here. No, the real problem was WHO exactly was calling out for help. The reason why Superman was jetting at lighting speed from the other side of the world after a particularly difficult mission instead of just going straight to bed hibernating for three business days and forgetting about everyone and everything else, until he could piece together some semblance of his sanity just so that he could get up and do it all over again. So sometimes he feels overworked, sue him! Regardless of his own personal problems and spiralling thoughts, he pushes it aside for now presses on. All he knows is that whoever called him, knows him on an intimate level. Because they used his birth name. Incredibly few people even know of this. Incredibly fewer people use it because he's explicitly explained to them to only use it in the most dire of situations.

Maybe that's why the churning in his gut is so blatant, this looming sense of foreboding in  the air. He had half a mind to ignore it. It was in freaking Gotham for crying out loud! With the Batman and his BatPack scurrying around every corner and materialsing out of thin air, there'd be no point in going there anyway. Not to mention, Bruce would have informed him about it and would have ordered him not to be involved with anything to do with his turf unless it was literally apocalyptic. Classic Bruce. Not to mention, it didn't sound like anyone he'd know right away. Not like he'd already pointed out Bruce, Nightwing, that Timothy Drake kid Damian or even Jason. (Although whoever called him sounded downright shattered.) That was exactly what was compelling him to go. Whoever it was sounded so broken and vulnerable that it just made something in him to shred painfully at the mere sound of their distressed voice.

But when he got there and saw who it was, dumbfounded didn't even begin to describe the numerous emotions and not to mention questions that were running around in his head. Because on some random rooftop, on the verge of death, YET AGAIN!! was none other than Jason Todd alias the Red Hood at his feet. He looked to have suffered a considerable amount of injuries in multiple places on his person and he was already unconscious due to the innumerable wounds and blood loss.
