He stared into a large empty room—a brand new-looking library with rows and rows of empty shelves. There were three floors with rounded walls, like a tower, each with walls made entirely of book cases. The space could probably fit thousands of books. And, nestled into cozy corners were various reading nooks, perfect for curling up on a cold day with a good book.

Stairs connected each level, and rectangular windows lining the walls above the bookcases piped bright, winter light into the room. But Shang Qinghua supposed that, since he was a king with major influences all over the world, sourcing glass probably wasn’t anything more than a minor inconvenience. Still, the cost of it must have been staggering, and Shang Qinghua couldn’t understand why a king would waste his kingdom’s money on a library with no books.
