Summary
The next week, the shotgun is brought back from England, and left in a display case in Puerto Reyes. When Florence sees herself reflected on the glass, she convinces herself that’s all the weapon is. A medium’s relic.
The shotgun used by Encarnación to kill the men of the Order in 1939 is passed down to other mediums, tempting them to finish what she started, almost like an inheritance, until it finds Gaspar.

"Stephen knows it doesn’t make any sense, but there are reveries in which Gaspar starts as a grown-up, finds the door, then recedes to the time he was a toddler who liked to sleep on his chest. The nightmare’s over now, Stephen will tell him. They’re gone, and we’re the only ones left."
