Chapter Text

Jackson couldn't believe that his mom would force him to move to Forks so suddenly but here he was alone in the cafeteria chewing on some mediocre 2$ chicken nuggets because he forgot to pack his daily mac n cheese.

"Uhm can I sit here?" Someone asked awkwardly and he nodded, they sat down and grinned showing off a tooth gap. "I'm Bella, I'm new here." She introduced herself and Jackson couldn't help but to entertain this.

"I'm Jackson, I just got here today." He offered in return Bella didn't even have a tray she just fiddled with her phone for a few moments before looking back at Jackson again. He didn't really have much to say and continued to eat in silence.

He wished he was back at monster high, he knew that he wasn't safe there but everything in the human world was so bland in comparison. He missed the dark purple and blue hues, he missed the way that the halls hummed with supernatural energy and he missed Frankie.

Everyone here was so monochrome in comparison to the monster high students, the most interesting people here were the Cullens and they weren't exactly approachable. In fact one of them kept glaring at him and Bella.

"So where did you go to school before this?" Bella asked likely just to break the awkward silence. Jackson racked his brain for the easiest lie. "I used to go to new Salem high." He lied without missing a beat.

"I used to go to school somewhere in Phoenix." Jackson noted that she didn't specify which school but didn't care enough to push it. "Who are they?" Bella suddenly asked pointing to the Cullen's table.

Jackson shrugged. "They're the Cullen's I don't even know their first names so I'm not the best one to ask." He explained and she nodded as though that was good enough for her. Suddenly before Jackson could get another word in the bell rang and Bella rushed off to her next class.

Jackson looked at his schedule and noted that his next class was claw— calculus he corrected himself. He was trying to used to normie dialect.

Unfortunately when he got to the class the only seat left was next to the one Cullen kid that wouldn't stop staring at Bella. Great. Jackson sat down trying his best to just ignore the other boy.

Jackson didn't really think of himself as having a short temper. That trait went straight to his other half, Holt, but at the same time he couldn't help but to be bothered by all of the people staring at him. He could feel the temperature in his hands rising and he took a deep breath trying to force the fire back down.

When the bell finally rang Jackson stood up and bolted out of class.

...

When Jackson finally got home he was exhausted and just wanted to sleep instead he decided to call Frankie. She picked up the phone immediately."Jackson! Clawd and Deuce got into a fight today. " The pair of them were both hard headed so Jackson wasn't too surprised.

"What is it about this time?" He sighed. "Clawd apparently left a flower in Cleo's locker." Frankie replied. "Really? That's what they were fighting over?" Jackson had hoped it'd actually be interesting this time.

While Frankie spoke Jackson's mind wandered back to the Cullen's something was off and he felt as though he recognized them from somewhere but he couldn't imagine where. He was sure he'd remember if he had actually seen them before but his brain was drawing a blank.

When he hung up with Frankie he went into the kitchen to make mac n cheese, his mother wasn't in the house likely working a night shift at the hospital or something who knows.Jackson considered letting Holt out since it's been a while with how busy they were but he thought better of it deciding to wait a few days until he was used to this place.

That way if he woke up behind a dumpster or something he would actually know where he was.  He also needed to have a chat with him about being discreet.

...

On the way into school Jackson stared the Cullen's down, he felt creepy but something about them bothered him it was as if something unnatural was going on but he just couldn't pinpoint what it was.The shortest one with a pixie cut looked at him and smiled waving as she walked into the school. That didn't soothe Jackson's nerves at all.

In the back of his head he could feel Holt buzzing around itching to get out. Forcing his mind away from that he made his way to gym. Now gym was complicated for Jackson for many reasons the main one being that the rules in the monster world were much different, excluding fouls and things of the sort so Jackson just sat out and observed everyone play knowing that he'd possibly lose a grade, it was whatever.

The school day passed in a sort of strange blur nothing seemed too off to him until he sat down for lunch, this time he remembered to bring his mac n cheese. Bella sat down next to him bringing a friend with her this time. "I'm Jessica." Was all she offered Jackson before she went on a whole rant to Bella who seemed almost disinterested.

Jackson felt himself being stared at and sighed. "Who's that?" He asked pointing to one of the Cullen's

, Jessica suddenly gained interest in what he had to say and tilted her head. "That's Edward, did you piss in his Cheerios or something? Jeez." So at least he wasn't the only one noticing Edward's problem. "I don't understand his problem with me." Jackson admitted sheepishly. *He'd hate my brother. " he muttered as an afterthought, Bella perked up. "You have a brother?" She asked and he nodded. "He's back in New Salem though."He lied straight to her face.

The truth would only scare her off wouldn't it? Jackson imagined trying to explain Holt and the mess that he brought with him to a normie and internally giggled.

Jackson ate a scoop of his mac n cheese, he loved mac n cheese.

...

" Do I know you? "  Edward flinched something that was unusual for him, he didn't hear or see Jackson coming to their table and since he couldn't read his mind he didn't hear that either. "No I don't think you do." He said smoothly and Jackson squinted tilting his head a little. "My apologies you just looked familiar to me." Jackson looked over to the side where Bella was sitting and went back to his seat.

"You're staring." Alice whispered with a small grin apparent on her face. Edward couldn't read Bella's mind either but it was different with Jackson. With Bella trying to read her mind only drew a blank, but with Jackson it was like listening to white noise. It was as if too much was going on in Jackson's head for Edward to read.

There was something off about Jackson but without the ability to read his mind Edward had no clue what it was that was bothering him.

...

"Frankie you can't keep calling me in the middle of the school day!" Jackson scolded as he hid in a bathroom stall. "Sorry! I just miss you! Draculaura says hi!" He didn't talk to Draculaura much these days but she was nice to him for the most part. "Tell her I said hi back." He said he heard the door to the bathroom open and huffed. "I gotta go." He hung up and left the stall to wash his hands.

He considered skipping English and then thought better of it heading his way to class. He scored a seat next to Bella and listened to the teacher drone on and on about a book he'd already read.

At Monster High Heath probably set something on fire by now, at least he kept things interesting. Here it was boring and monotonous. He could feel Holt itching to cause trouble but as usual Jackson did his best at ignoring him.
