Chapter Text
Alan unlocked the front door and allow themselves inside, Jeff heading straight to the kitchen to get some water. "That was an experience."
"It's the second doctor's appointment and you're still nervous?" Jeff teased. "And don't tell me you weren't kind of nervous. Excited, yet, nervous" he put his glass down.
"First time and all..." Alan tried to defend himself. " Of course it will be gone, it's just the beginning. After all, you shouldn't even be nervous in your condition, so I'll absorb any nervous feeling you may have."
"True." Jeff chuckled and went to sit on the couch. "Wonder what would be the earliest we can have a scan photo..." he commented, yet, didn't really expect any answer. More of a thought said aloud.
"Well..."
Jeff rose an eyebrow. "Alan?"
"We already have. You're a little over six weeks now so a scan is possible. So I asked for one." Alan rubbed the back of his head.
"You know it is literally a dot." Jeff smiled.
"A very beautiful dot!"
"A beautiful one indeed." Jeff beckoned him over, Alan happily obeying as he took the photo out of his jacket's pocket, handing it to his mate.
"Feels surreal... that this little dot is our baby."
"They are going to be the most adorable, most bubbly and cutest baby there is." Alan remarked with a proud smile, wrapping a hand around Jeff.
"So certain, huh?"
"Yeah. It's our baby after all."
"So in some years we can be like, 'Behold! The long-awaited competition you were all so excited about: who is the bubbliest? Our baby or North?' " Jeff joked and Alan couldn't help but laugh at the theatrics.
"That would surely be entertaining. Until then, we'll be entertained by their surprised faces when we tell them."
Jeff nodded. "I don't doubt that at all. But...can we not tell them yet? It's nice to have a little secret of our own and... kind of want to be safe about it. For some reason, I feel like being too happy will jinx it."
Alan took his hand in his own and kissed it. "Don't be afraid to tell me what you want. Truth is, I also think it's better. There is no rush after all, all in due time." He ruffled Jeff's hair. "In the meantime, would you like to place bets on what each guy's reaction would probably be as we eat?"
"Yeah. Go bring the food, I'm starving."
"Why don't you say so all this time?!" Alan quickly got up and jogged to the kitchen.
