Chapter 29: 1 Day Until the Wedding

Summary:

Pascal takes a nice break before coming to a horrifying realization about the wedding.

Chapter Text

Pascal laid over a massage table, his eyes closed as he felt someone gently massaging his back.

It was nice of Auntie Soraya to give me an all-expenses paid spa day as an apology for what happened.

It doesn’t make everything right, but it’s nice to have a break.

…Hopefully Tycho will be okay with Jenny and Pol.

Pascal sighed, letting his muscles relax as he felt something being slathered on his back.

Pascal gazed up at the night sky as he walked towards the door of his house, feeling refreshed as he swung it open. Lazlo was sitting at the counter and eating dinner as Tycho sat in his high chair, somehow eating a bowl of vegetables.

“Yo?” Lazlo said, turning around, “Yo! How are you feeling, man?”

“Much better,” Pascal said, “I’m still a little annoyed at Auntie Soraya for her prank, but I’ll live.”

“Neat.” Lazlo said, “I put your dinner in the fridge.”

Pascal opened the door of the fridge, grabbing the covered plate before placing it inside of the microwave.

“Thanks.”

Pascal watched the microwave in silence, listening to Lazlo chewing loudly as Tycho knocked his bowl off of the high chair’s table.

“So,” Lazlo said, “The wedding’s tomorrow. How are you feeling?”

“...Alright,” Pascal said, “A little nervous. I’m afraid the Terrestrial family is going to gang up on me.”

“They probably will,” Lazlo said, nodding, “But I’ve got your back. And I’m sure Vidcund will, too.”

“Thanks.”

“And besides,” Lazlo said, “The Terrestrials might not be your biggest threat tomorrow. There’s nothing they can throw at you that you haven’t already been able to handle.”

“...Who’d be a bigger threat?”

Lazlo pressed his lips together as the microwave beeped, prompting Pascal to take his food out of the microwave before cleaning up Tycho’s bowl of vegetables from the floor.

“I mean, you’ve met them before,” he said, “You’ve talked to them a couple of times, and you never had any sort of one-on-one time with them like you did with everyone else. I’m surprised you haven’t made the connection.”

Pascal remained quiet, thinking to himself before his mind echoed the sound of an egg cracking. His eyes widened, before his head turned towards one of the rectangular windows of the house.
