Chapter Text
Shouta paced in the courtyard of the apartment building, almost yelling into the phone in his hand.
The majority of his class were packing their things to head back to the buses, Bakugou and Mineta still missing.
“What do you mean, you can’t extend the trip?!” Shouta almost shouted, his voice already higher than it had been in years.
“The government of Yokohama is very strict about outsiders.” Nezu’s voice responded over the phone's speaker, “The fact this trip was even possible was pure luck. They won’t listen to anything we say, the time you and class 1-A are allowed in the city is very limited.”
“Two of my students are missing.” Shouta stressed, trying to get the principal to understand the situation.
“I am aware of that fact. There is nothing I can do to extend your time. You have around one hour left in Yokohama, and that time must be used to get back to the border.” Nezu responded, voice even.
Shouta was about to continue arguing with the principal when Bakugou walked through the gate, the teenager pale.
Shouta quickly abandoned his conversation with Nezu, hanging up the phone and running over to the blonde boy.
The first thing Shouta noticed was the bandages around Bakugou’s right hand.
Without asking, he grabbed the blonde’s hand as gently as he could and lifted it to inspect it. Bakugou’s fingers were bent strangely, clearly broken, if not worse. The bandages looked like they were put on by someone who didn’t care, no supports in place to help his fingers stay in position.
Bakugou’s other hand had a stitched up wound running from his wrist to his palm, but otherwise seemed okay.
The boy himself was unusually silent, staring forward with a pale face and expression seemingly in shock.
“Bakugou? Are you okay? Can you tell me what happened?” Shouta guided the teen’s right hand back to his side, glancing around to look for Mineta.
At this point, other students were starting to emerge from their rooms with their bags, Kirishima carrying both his and Bakugou’s.
Shouta sighed, turning back to the mostly unresponsive boy. “Okay. Take a bit to gather yourself. We can talk once we get back to U.A.. I just need you to answer one question. Do you know where Mineta is?”
Bakugou looked up at Shouta, shaking his head shakily. He then left, going straight towards Kirishima without saying anything.
As the rest of the class made it outside, Kaminari carried Mineta’s things.
Shouta had no choice but to start leading everyone back to the border without answers. Answers on what had happened to Mineta, and why Dazai, Chuuya, and Eri were in Yokohama in the first place.
No matter how desperately Shouta wanted to stay, he had to leave the city with yet another missing person on his list and no explanations.
At least he knew Dazai, Chuuya, and Eri were alive.
…——…
Dazai was laying on Chuuya’s lap on their couch, watching as the older teen flipped through show options.
After a moment, Chuuya paused. “Oi, idiot I decided to date for some reason.”
Dazai looked up and responded, a teasing tone in his voice. “You know you love me Chibi-”
Chuuya cut Dazai off by lightly flicking him on the forehead, Dazai making sure to appropriately dramatize the action by bringing his hands to the spot with an over the top pout.
“Shut up.” From where he was staring up at Chuuya, Dazai could see the slight redness to his ears. “We never followed up on what happened to Small Might.”
Dazai let out a slight chuckle at the name before grinning up at Chuuya. “It’s easy to figure it out, Chibi. Did that ugly hat finally eat away all your brain cells?”
Dazai rolled slightly to the side, avoiding a playful hit from the shorter teen.
“He obviously is still worshipped!”
“What?! He’s such a meathead idiot though-“ Chuuya started, before cutting himself off, realizing the situation.
“Oh. In the public’s eyes, even though he lost his power he was the one to take down All For One. Besides, they thought of him as a hero before that entire ordeal. They probably saw it as some noble sacrifice or some shit.” Chuuya frowned.
“Yep! Exactly. Even though we were the ones to actually kill All For One, since nobody knew we were there, all the credit for his downfall went to Small Might.” Dazai frowned as well from his spot in Chuuya’s lap, not particularly pleased with the fact that the man who had left a very obviously injured teenager on a rooftop alone after crushing his ‘dreams’.
The brunette felt his partner’s hand in his hair, working its way though his (admittedly much better cared for since Chuuya started helping) curls.
“There isn’t anything we can do about it now. Even without his power, All Might’s previous deeds along with how the events played out with the League and All For One left him someone many still look up to.” Dazai sighed, leaning into the touch.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he was credited with the League falling apart as well, not that hero society has put that together yet.”
Chuuya huffed, “They’re all idiots.”
Dazai wholeheartedly agreed with that statement.
…——…
Denki sat in his seat on the bus ride back, more silent than he had even in the past few weeks, thinking about the events over the trip with Chuuya.
He had never expected to be friends with someone in a criminal organization, let alone join one himself.
Denki couldn’t help but wonder if it was a mistake to join just because Chuuya was part of it.
Yes, they were friends, but what would he have done if he was expected to stay in Yokohama, instead of being able to interact with all his other friends and family?
He was just relieved that everything turned out the way it had. This way, he and Chuuya were still able to stay friends and he could stay (somewhat) on his original career path.
“Are you okay, Bro?” Kirishima spoke up from where he was seated next to Bakugou, the other blonde boy staring at his hands, having been unnaturally quiet since he returned from being missing.
Bakugou had gone missing right after Chuuya and Dazai dropped Denki off back at the apartments.
Had they done this to him? What reasons would the two have to target Bakugou specifically? Were they also responsible for the disappearance of Mineta?
“I’m fine.” Denki tried to reassure Kirishima, the redhead seemingly taking his silence as being upset about Chuuya and Dazai being left behind in Yokohama.
“Look, man. I know they didn’t end up coming back with us, but at least we know Dazai and Chuuya are safe. They seemed fine when we saw them yesterday, and weren’t you able to talk to Chuuya?” Kirishima tried to reassure Denki.
Denki just nodded, giving a small smile in return. He wasn’t sure how to react to the completely misplaced reassurance, knowing he couldn’t tell Kirishima the real reason he was quiet.
There would be a lot he couldn't tell others in the future, it seemed. He knew he couldn’t back out of his decision now.
…——…
Once they returned to U.A. Katsuki was immediately brought to Recovery Girl, who immediately rebandaged his right hand and added supports for the crushed bone, as well as inspecting the incision on his left palm.
The Youthful Heroine was unable to do much to heal the hand itself, due to the nature of the injury.
Because the bone had been completely pulverized in his hand, even quirks were unable to make the limb fully functional again.
The heroes were also unaware of any way to return his quirk, as Recovery Girl’s quirk was unable to regrow the removed sweat glands.
All in all, Katsuki was now without a quirk and the use of his right hand.
After they looked over his injuries, Aizawa-sensei brought Katsuki to Nezu’s office to go over what he experienced in the time he was missing.
Eventually, the teenager did start to tell the teacher and principal what happened.
“I noticed Mineta had followed Iz-“ Katsuki cut himself off, the remaining pain in his hand reminding him of Chuuya’s anger about the name.
“Mineta had followed Dazai, Chuuya, and a girl away from the apartment building,” He continued, clenching his left hand into a fist. “I followed them, only then realizing the girl was Toga.”
“Wait, Toga? From the League of Villains? Are you sure about this?” Aizawa cut in.
“Yes. She had walked up to Dazai and Chuuya then they all left together.” Katsuki then went to repeat what he had seen happen to Mineta in the alleyway, noting the tensing in Aizawa’s face, the chimera principal staying stoic and silent. “The next thing I knew, I was knocked out.”
“So you are saying Mineta is dead.” Aizawa clarified. Katsuki nodded.
“Dazai shot him. From how they were acting, it seemed they cut short whatever they were planning to do with him to deal with me.” Katsuki continues, watching the principal out of the corner of his eye.
The chimera didn’t seem surprised at all about the situation. Even if he didn’t display emotion the same way as a human, Katsuki still expected something. Nezu wasn't even moving.
Nevertheless, he continued, “When I woke up, I was on a hospital bed with my hands and head hurting. I assumed the head pain was from being knocked out. Dazai and Chuuya were there. They said something about being in the Port Mafia.”
“Mafia?” Aizawa cut in again, putting his hand over his face. “Shit. We had two mafiosos in this school? Nezu, you were the one who brought them in. How did this happen?” The teacher turned to face the principal.
“Simple. I contacted the leader of the Port Mafia in Yokohama to provide protection to your class and take out the League of Villains.” The principal said, stoic as ever.
“You knew?!” Katsuki yelled, not caring that this was the principal of the school he currently attended. “Thats why they fucking mentioned a mission! Why they waited to do this to me until after they left!” Katsuki held up his right hand.
Aizawa was just glaring at the principal, eventually speaking up in a clearly forcefully calm voice. “I knew they were here as guards, but I hadn’t expected you to contact the Mafia, Nezu.”
“I see no problem with it. They completed their task and didn’t hurt any students while in the middle of their mission. Bakugou, please finish your recount of the events that transpired.”
Katsuki glared at the principal, but continued, telling Nezu and Aizawa about what Chuuya did to his right hand, then what Mori explained he did.
“I see.” The principal said once Katsuki finished, “The way I see it, Bakugou, you no longer have use of your right hand, or your quirk. I believe the best course of action is to pull you from the hero course and place you in general education if you wish to stay in U.A.”
“You can’t just-“ Aizawa started, clearly ready to fight for Katsuki’s right to stay in his class.
“It is for his own safety.” Nezu cut the teacher off, “In his condition, Bakugou would be unable to complete his hero duties, leaving him and anyone who is relying on him in danger. This is my final decision.”
The principal then turned to look at Katsuki again, “You can choose to stay in your current dorm or switch to your new class’s building. This meeting is over.”
Katsuki just stared at the chimera, then at Aizawa. The teacher shook his head slightly, indicating there was nothing he could do.
Clenching his working hand into a tight fist, Katsuki stormed out of the principals office.
His lifelong dream of being a hero was over.
…——…
Toshinori sat in his office, sorting through lesson plans.
Since the fall of All For One and the loss of his power, he had started only teaching, leaving being a hero behind.
After all, like he had said to that boy on the roof those years ago, you could not be a hero without a quirk.
That boy. Toshinori hadn’t thought about him in a long time.
Thinking back to what he looked like, all the former Pro could think of was green hair and lots of bandages.
His mind immediately went to Dazai, the now missing student.
Both he and the boy from the roof had bandages all over, including their eye. Along with that, Dazai’s mother had green hair.
They couldn’t have been the same person, right? The boy Toshinori had met said he was quirkless.
Why would someone lie about not having a quirk?
Toshinori continued sorting through his papers, absentmindedly wondering what had become of the boy. He had a way off the roof, right?
The former pro couldn't remember clearly. He’s sure he helped the boy down before he left. That’s what a Hero would do, after all.
…
Shouta didn’t know what to do with the information he had gained in the meeting with Bakugou and Nezu.
He had Villains in his class?
No matter the information he knew now, Shouta couldn’t see Dazai and Chuuya as anything other than his students.
But apparently they had killed Mineta and seriously injured Bakugou.
Going over his previous interactions with the boys to see if he noticed anything off, Shouta’s mind settled on one conversation.
After the sports festival. The day they chose their hero names.
Shouta had spoken to Dazai then, about his bandages. He had tried to help.
The boy had avoided the topic as much as he could, refusing to say anything about what lay under the wrappings.
Could he have injuries from being in the mafia? Shouta had assumed it was self harm. It could very well be both at this point.
There was also the fact of how experienced both boys were in combat, something that became evident quickly during the first training session when Dazai pulled out a gun on Chuuya.
There had been signs, but not nearly enough to give Shouta the impression the two were in the mafia. The mafia in Yokohama of all things.
Although, now that they had hurt Shouta’s students, he knew there was a chance he would have to fight them if they crossed paths again.
Shouta didn’t know if he could bring himself to do so.
…——…
Nezu sat behind his desk in his office, reviewing the meeting in his head.
It was truly unfortunate that the trip to Yokohama cost Bakugou so much, but from what the principal could tell, the blonde brought the consequences on himself.
Mineta was a different case. Yes, his death was tragic, but Nezu didn’t process it like humans. He had been considering expelling the boy because of his repeated inappropriate actions.
In the Chimera’s mind, this outcome was inconsequential to the school and how it would continue on in the future.

Dazai layed on the couch in his and Chuuya’s apartment, humming to himself as the smell of crab came from the kitchen.
After a few minutes, Chuuya walked into the room carrying two plates of some new crab dish he had found a recipe for, setting the plates on the coffee table and sitting down next to Dazai.
Dazai grumbled as the older pushed his legs aside to make a place to sit. “Chuuya~ is this really how you treat me after all these years? So cruel.”
The brunette gave an exaggerated pout as he shuffled to sit up, “There is only one way to make up for this tragedy!”
“Come here, you idiot.” Chuuya rolled his eyes, leaning over to kiss Dazai.
“You married this idiot!” Dazai grinned as his husband pulled away.
“That was four years ago, stop reminding me!”
“Never.” Dazai gave a mischievous grin as he turned to the food Chuuya had made for them. “You signed up for this when you signed the certificate!”
Chuuya went to halfheartedly kick Dazai in the leg, the younger dodging at the last second.
“Idiot!” Chuuya laughed, wrestling the plate from Dazai’s hands and putting it back on the table, before pinning him down on the couch.
“No fair! The Chibi is so much stronger than me! This isn’t a fair fight!” Dazai complained, making halfhearted attempts to shove his husband aside while chuckling.
Chuuya easily kept his hold, reaching one hand up to cup the right side of Dazai’s face while leaning in for a kiss, his hand landing gently on where the burn scar he had gotten all those years ago was now uncovered.
While at work, Dazai covered the mark with makeup, only leaving it to be clearly visible when he was alone at home with Chuuya.
The couple kissed for a moment before Chuuya pulled away, righting himself back into a seated position on the couch and leaving Dazai laying there. “Alright, let’s eat. We still have guests coming over later.”
“I don’t see why Q and Eri can’t just watch the movie at Kouyou’s. They live there! I need alone time with my husband!” Dazai complained.
“One, we live together. We have plenty of alone time.” Chuuya started, “And you know this gathering isn’t just for them. The Akutagawa siblings are also coming, along with Kyouka and the Weretiger.”
“Okay, to be fair, how was I supposed to know Atsushi had never seen The Jungle Book? He's a Tiger!” Dazai tried defending.
“Yeah yeah. Then Kyouka heard and told Eri, who told Q, then somehow Ryuunosuke heard and invited Gin, and now we have a bunch of people coming over.” Chuuya rolled his eyes, “We have been over this many times already. Eat, Mackerel, we still need time to set up for this movie sleepover thing.”
Dazai huffed, obviously pretending to be upset as he ate the crab dish.
Who would have thought that running away at thirteen and trying to kill himself would lead to this life.
Maybe, life wasn’t so bad afterall.
