Work Text:
Merlin pushed the door open with a gentle creak, his eyes immediately flickering across the room. His gaze fell on Professor Arthur Pendragon, who was leaning against the chalkboard with his arms folded, a look of concentration etched on his sharp features. The professor was always immaculate—today, his navy suit perfectly matched his intense, piercing blue eyes. It wasn't hard to see why he had such a reputation among the students; Arthur had a presence that was almost magnetic.
Merlin stood at the entrance for a moment, just watching. He knew this wasn’t a good idea. Professor Pendragon was, without a doubt, everything Merlin tried to avoid getting tangled up in—intelligent, charming, and, as much as Merlin hated to admit it, ridiculously handsome.
He sighed and stepped forward, his shoes clicking against the floor, the sound louder than usual in the otherwise quiet classroom. The second Arthur turned his head, their eyes met. For a brief, electric second, time seemed to slow.
“Merlin,” Arthur said, his voice smooth but with that hint of authority that Merlin always found impossible to ignore. “I was beginning to wonder if you’d show up today. You’re a few minutes late.”
Merlin rolled his eyes, trying to ignore the flutter in his chest. “I got caught up with some… research,” he replied, his tone a little too sharp, a defense mechanism he always found himself relying on around Arthur.
Arthur raised an eyebrow, a knowing smirk pulling at the corners of his mouth. “Research, eh? I trust it wasn’t more of your ‘distractions’ again?”
Merlin couldn’t help the heat rising to his cheeks, but he quickly composed himself, slinging his bag over one shoulder and taking a seat in the front row, just slightly too close for comfort. He didn’t understand why he always felt this way around Arthur, as though the professor’s every word was pulling him in a little deeper. It was frustrating.
Arthur’s voice broke through his thoughts again. “Today we’re discussing the complexities of power during the Tudor period, but I’m sure you’re all more interested in your little side projects. Shall we begin with yours, Merlin?”
Merlin swallowed, eyes narrowing slightly. “I’ll take that as a challenge, Professor.”
Arthur chuckled softly, his gaze lingering a moment too long, and for just a second, Merlin thought he might see something else in those blue eyes. Something more than just the sharp, academic dissection he was so used to. But then Arthur turned away, wiping the board with a clean cloth as if nothing had happened.
Merlin stared at his professor’s back, heart racing. This semester was going to be far more complicated than he ever could have imagined.
Arthur turned back to face the class, his posture straight, commanding the room with a quiet confidence. He clicked his pen against the desk, looking over the gathered students with a practiced gaze. But Merlin’s eyes were fixed on him, the sharp angles of his jaw, the subtle way he carried himself like someone who had everything under control.
"Let’s begin," Arthur said, his voice deepening slightly as he gestured to the overhead projector, flicking the switch to reveal a slide on the history of the Tudor monarchy. "As you all know, the Tudors had a talent for using power—both strategically and ruthlessly. But power isn’t just about command, it's about perception. It's about how you shape your legacy."
Merlin tried to focus, but his mind kept slipping back to their earlier exchange, the way Arthur had said his name, the amusement lingering in his gaze. It was as if Arthur knew exactly how to unnerve him, how to send a shiver through him that had nothing to do with history. Merlin forced himself to jot down a few notes, trying to pretend he wasn’t acutely aware of every movement the professor made.
Arthur paused, scanning the room as if he could feel Merlin’s attention on him. And when his eyes landed on the student in the front row, there was a momentary flicker of something—was it curiosity? Challenge? Merlin couldn’t quite place it, but it made his pulse spike, and his hand froze over his notes.
“Merlin,” Arthur said again, his voice almost too casual, though there was a distinct edge to it now. “Care to share your thoughts on the topic? You’ve been awfully quiet so far."
Merlin blinked, startled by the sudden attention. He had no choice but to meet Arthur's gaze, feeling the weight of those sharp blue eyes assessing him. It was like being under a spotlight.
"I—" Merlin cleared his throat, scrambling to pull together his thoughts. "The Tudors didn’t just wield power—they manipulated perception. Henry VIII used his marriages to not only shape his own image but to influence Europe’s political landscape. The way he dealt with Anne Boleyn’s execution wasn’t just a matter of personal betrayal—it was a calculated move to secure his legacy, to reshape England’s future."
Arthur gave a single nod, the corner of his mouth twitching. “Interesting. You’ve clearly done your homework.” There was an almost teasing lilt to his tone, and Merlin felt himself flush again.
“Thank you, Professor,” Merlin said, trying to keep his voice steady. It was harder than usual with the way Arthur was looking at him now—like he could see right through Merlin's defenses. He forced his attention back to the slide as if the projector held the answers to all his questions, but Arthur's presence was impossible to ignore.
The rest of the lecture passed in a blur, Merlin’s mind constantly drifting between the sharp insights of history and the constant pull of Arthur’s attention. Every word Arthur spoke seemed to carry weight, each pause pregnant with the unspoken tension that Merlin couldn’t escape.
By the time the bell rang, signaling the end of the lecture, Merlin felt like he’d been holding his breath the entire hour. He quickly packed his things, desperate to escape the intensity that had been simmering all around him. But as he slung his bag over his shoulder and stood to leave, he felt a familiar voice call his name.
“Merlin, a word?”
He froze, his heart leaping into his throat. He turned to find Arthur standing at the front of the room, arms crossed, a look in his eyes that was both knowing and unreadable. The students around him had already filtered out, leaving the two of them alone. The door clicked shut behind Merlin with an almost ominous finality.
Arthur didn’t waste any time. “You’ve been... distracted today. More so than usual. I’d like to know why.” His tone was calm, but there was something piercing in it—a directness that always left Merlin on edge.
Merlin opened his mouth to protest, but the words caught in his throat. How could he explain? How could he put into words the way Arthur made him feel? How could he say that it was impossible to focus when the professor had this hold on him, this magnetism that Merlin couldn’t resist?
"I—" Merlin began, then stopped himself. There was no way to answer that question without sounding foolish, or worse, revealing far more than he intended.
Arthur’s gaze softened, but just for a second, before it hardened again. "You know I don’t tolerate distractions in my class, Merlin." His voice was low, almost a warning, but there was something in it—something Merlin couldn’t quite decipher.
Merlin swallowed. "I’ll focus next time, Professor. I promise."
Arthur studied him for a moment, and for a brief second, the air between them seemed to crackle. It wasn’t the reprimanding tone Merlin had expected. Instead, there was a flicker of something else in Arthur’s eyes—something far more complicated than simple irritation.
“Good,” Arthur said finally, his voice returning to its usual calm authority. “But remember, distractions can be... dangerous. Especially in this class.”
Merlin nodded quickly, desperate to flee the intensity of the moment. He didn’t trust himself to stay any longer, not when every part of him was screaming to get out of the room before he did something ridiculous.
“Right. I’ll... see you on Wednesday then,” Merlin muttered, heading for the door.
Arthur didn’t say anything in response, but Merlin could feel the professor’s gaze on his back as he left. And as the door clicked shut behind him, Merlin knew one thing for sure: the line between challenge and temptation was dangerously thin, and he was perilously close to crossing it.
The next lecture came all too quickly for Merlin. He hadn’t stopped thinking about Arthur since their last interaction, and the thoughts kept coming back, uninvited, in moments when he least expected them. There was a strange pull he couldn't explain, a lure that made him feel like he was walking on a tightrope, one step away from falling. But today? Merlin decided he was going to walk that tightrope and enjoy every second of it. He couldn’t fight this... whatever it was, so why not have a little fun with it?
When Merlin walked into the classroom this time, he had a plan. He sauntered in a little later than usual, making sure he caught Arthur’s eye as he entered. Arthur was already at the front of the room, writing something on the board with his back turned, and Merlin couldn't help the small, mischievous grin tugging at his lips.
"Good afternoon, Professor," Merlin said in a voice that was just a bit too sweet, just a bit too confident.
Arthur straightened up at the sound of Merlin’s voice, turning to face him with a raised eyebrow. "Merlin, nice of you to join us. You’re fashionably late, I see."
Merlin shrugged, the motion languid, as he strolled toward the front. “Well, I wouldn’t want to miss too much of your riveting lecture, Professor," he said, the teasing note in his voice unmistakable.
Arthur’s eyes flickered over him, but his expression remained neutral, though there was a slight tightening around his jaw. He was trying to maintain his usual authoritative stance, but Merlin could see the cracks starting to show, just barely.
"Is that so?" Arthur said, his voice smooth but with a hint of something sharper underneath. "And what, exactly, would be more riveting to you, Merlin? I’m sure there’s something else on your mind."
Merlin took a step closer to him, not quite crossing the line but just close enough that he could feel the professor’s presence, feel the heat of him. He let his gaze linger for a moment, the playful smirk on his lips never fading.
“Well, maybe I just find you more interesting than the Tudors," Merlin replied, his tone a little more teasing than he intended. He didn’t want to be too obvious, but there was a boldness in him today, one that made him take the plunge without hesitation.
Arthur’s eyes narrowed, and for a split second, Merlin thought he saw a flicker of surprise in them—perhaps a hint of something more. But it was gone so quickly, hidden behind that composed, professional mask Arthur always wore.
"Merlin," Arthur said, his voice low, measured. "I’m not sure whether you’re flirting with me or just trying to test my patience. Either way, I would appreciate it if you paid attention. You’re here to learn history, not… whatever it is you’re doing."
Merlin leaned back against the desk, pretending to think it over. "I am learning history," he said with a wink. "I’m just more interested in the live history right in front of me."
Arthur’s lips tightened, but he didn’t respond immediately. He stood for a moment, staring at Merlin, his gaze cold yet somehow intense, as if weighing the situation. But Merlin wasn’t backing down. The challenge, the rush of seeing Arthur's usual control falter, was far too irresistible.
After a long pause, Arthur cleared his throat, composing himself with a sharp inhale. "Enough, Merlin," he said firmly, his tone dropping the playful edge. "Sit down. We’re starting the lecture now."
Merlin didn’t move immediately, instead holding Arthur’s gaze a beat longer, enjoying the way his professor’s usually composed demeanor was ever so slightly cracking. Finally, with a dramatic sigh, Merlin slid into his seat in the front row, giving Arthur one last cheeky smile.
“Fine, fine. I’ll behave,” Merlin said, but the glint in his eyes made it clear that his version of ‘behaving’ wasn’t exactly what Arthur might’ve hoped for.
Arthur turned back to the board, writing something on the slide with quick, practiced motions, but Merlin couldn’t help but watch the way Arthur's hand moved, the way his suit stretched just so, the sharpness in his posture. Merlin’s heart raced, not from nervousness this time, but from the sheer thrill of the game.
“Let’s get back to the Tudors, shall we?” Arthur’s voice broke through his thoughts, a little clipped now. "As we were discussing last time—power, perception, and the manipulation of the narrative. Henry VIII was a master at this, but the real question is: how far are you willing to go for power? What lines would you cross?"
Merlin’s mind, still buzzing from the earlier tension, wandered. As Arthur launched into the history lesson, Merlin allowed his mind to drift, not in disinterest, but in an entirely different way. He wasn’t just listening to the content; he was observing the way Arthur’s lips moved as he spoke, the confident gestures he used to emphasize his points. Merlin could feel his own pulse quickening, and despite his best efforts to focus, his thoughts kept returning to the professor’s proximity.
Arthur paused, as if sensing Merlin’s attention, and then, without missing a beat, looked directly at him. “Merlin,” he said, voice smooth but with an edge, “I’d like to hear your thoughts on this. You always seem to have something to say when you’re… distracted.”
Merlin grinned, feeling the thrill of the challenge rise again. “Well, Professor, I think Henry VIII was a bit like you.”
Arthur’s eyebrows shot up. “Oh?”
Merlin leaned forward in his seat, meeting Arthur’s gaze, the playful spark in his eyes unmistakable. “You know, you both seem to know exactly how to control a room. You have this way of making everyone hang on your every word, even when they’d rather be anywhere else. Power is a dangerous thing, Professor. And I can’t help but wonder how much you’ve learned from the Tudors.”
There it was. Merlin had crossed the line, but it felt exhilarating. Arthur didn’t respond right away, and for a brief, suspended moment, the air between them was thick with something unspoken. Then, finally, Arthur’s lips quirked into a tight smile, but his eyes were sharp.
“I don’t manipulate anyone, Merlin,” Arthur said quietly, his voice almost playful, “but you, on the other hand? I think you’re playing a very dangerous game.”
Merlin smiled wider, his heart thumping in his chest. "Maybe I like danger," he said, his voice soft but loaded with meaning.
Arthur looked at him for a moment longer, his expression unreadable, before he turned back to the class, his tone shifting back to business. "Enough games, Merlin. Let's focus on the lesson."
But Merlin could still feel the tension lingering, like a spark just waiting to catch fire.
Merlin could feel the electric tension crackling between them as he sat in the front row, his mind spinning with thoughts of Arthur. He watched every movement, every shift of the professor’s posture, as if every little action carried a meaning, a promise. He couldn’t resist the pull anymore.
As Arthur lectured on the power dynamics of Tudor England, Merlin allowed his mind to wander, slipping in a few more flirty remarks, the sharpness of his words dancing in the air like a game. He could feel Arthur’s patience fraying just beneath the surface, but he couldn’t help himself—there was something about the way the professor controlled the room, the way his eyes would briefly flicker to him that only stoked Merlin’s fire.
Finally, it came. A moment of silence in the classroom as Arthur paused, his pen hovering in the air as he waited for someone to respond to a question. Merlin’s lips curled into a smirk, and he let the words slip out without thinking.
“Power, huh? You’ve certainly got a lot of it, Professor,” Merlin said, his voice low but dripping with meaning. “Though I’d bet you’ve got a few more... hands-on methods of control than Henry VIII.”
There was a sharp inhale from a few of the students around him, but Merlin kept his gaze locked on Arthur, watching for his reaction.
Arthur’s expression went from mild surprise to something far darker in an instant. He closed the distance between them with a single, quick stride. The class went silent, all eyes flicking back and forth between the two of them, the air growing thick with the sudden tension.
Merlin leaned back in his chair, completely unfazed, though his pulse was thrumming. He was too aware of Arthur standing over him now, the professor’s presence towering over him in a way that had nothing to do with authority and everything to do with something more… dangerous.
Arthur’s eyes narrowed. “Merlin,” he said, his voice soft but heavy with unspoken threat, “that’s enough. After class, you and I are going to have a discussion about your behavior.”
Merlin felt his pulse spike, a thrill running through him at the words. There was no backing down now. He leaned in just slightly, his voice lowering to match Arthur’s intensity.
“Is that an invitation, Professor?” Merlin murmured, giving a half-smile, the challenge clear in his eyes.
Arthur’s jaw clenched, his knuckles tightening on the desk. For a moment, there was nothing but silence, the entire class holding its breath as the two of them stared each other down.
“After class, Merlin,” Arthur repeated, his voice tight with controlled restraint. "And you’d better be prepared to back up that comment."
Merlin could feel the weight of those words pressing into him, yet part of him reveled in the anticipation of what might come next. The power play between them was intoxicating, and the idea that Arthur was taking him seriously—too seriously—was a heady combination.
Arthur turned abruptly and walked back to the front of the class, his movements sharp and deliberate. The rest of the lecture passed in a blur, but Merlin could barely focus. His mind was on the promise Arthur had made, on the way his professor's gaze had locked with his, like a silent promise of something far more personal and far more intense than any classroom lecture.
The bell rang, signaling the end of the class, and the students shuffled out quickly, eager to leave. But Merlin stayed seated, slowly packing up his things, letting the others filter out before he stood.
When the last student exited, and the door clicked shut, the room was eerily silent. Arthur turned from the board, his eyes immediately finding Merlin’s as he walked toward the front.
“You and I,” Arthur began, his voice low, “need to have a conversation about respect. And boundaries.”
Merlin met his gaze head-on, a grin still tugging at his lips. “Boundaries are meant to be pushed, Professor.”
“You think you can get away with that kind of comment in my class?” Arthur’s voice was low, every word deliberate and controlled, but there was a certain edge to it, a warning beneath the surface.
Merlin swallowed hard, but he refused to back down. This wasn’t a fight he planned to lose. "You didn’t seem too offended when you heard it,” Merlin said, his voice a mix of defiance and something darker, something less innocent. He didn’t know why he was pushing this hard, but he couldn't stop himself now. "Maybe you liked it."
Arthur’s eyes flashed, and for a moment, it felt like the entire room shifted. The space between them felt smaller, every inch charged with something that neither of them was willing to name yet.
“You’re playing a dangerous game, Merlin,” Arthur said, his voice thick with something Merlin couldn’t quite place. He stepped closer now, not enough to touch but enough that Merlin could feel the weight of his presence, the heat radiating off him. “And if you think that’s all it is... just a game... you’re mistaken.”
Merlin met his gaze, his heart pounding in his chest, a strange thrill coursing through him. He was dangerously close to losing himself in this, but at the same time, he didn’t care. "I don't mind a little danger," Merlin replied, the words slipping out before he could stop them.
Arthur stopped in front of him, a mere foot between them now. His eyes were dark, his jaw set tight, but there was something in his gaze—something predatory, like a lion toying with its prey before the final strike. The air was thick with tension, the kind that made it hard to breathe, hard to think. Merlin could see the muscles in Arthur’s neck flex as he swallowed, the barely controlled anger beneath his calm demeanor.
Without another word, Arthur reached forward, his hand brushing against Merlin’s arm, a touch that was too light to be accidental but too brief to be anything more. Merlin’s breath caught in his throat at the unexpected contact, his skin tingling where Arthur’s fingers had lingered for just a moment too long.
“You’re testing me, Merlin,” Arthur said dangerously, his voice barely above a whisper. The professor’s hand stayed hovering near Merlin’s arm, like he was waiting for something—waiting for Merlin to make a move, waiting for him to acknowledge the unspoken tension that hummed in the air.
Merlin’s mind was spinning, every thought drowning beneath the electric pulse of the moment. “Maybe I want to be tested,” he said, his voice a little shakier than he intended, but the fire in his chest burned brighter than ever. “Maybe I want to see how far you’ll go.”
Arthur’s eyes narrowed, the tension thickening. “You really have no idea what you're getting yourself into, do you?”
Merlin’s mouth went dry. The challenge in Arthur’s tone, the warning, was palpable, and Merlin could feel his heartbeat racing as if he were standing on the edge of something that could either be exhilarating or ruinous. His breath quickened as he leaned in just slightly, a tiny, teasing move that was both daring and reckless.
“I like surprises,” Merlin said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Arthur’s gaze dropped to Merlin’s lips for a fraction of a second, and then back up to his eyes, his chest rising and falling as though he were fighting to keep control. Merlin had pushed him past the edge, past the point of no return. The professor was still standing, barely an inch from him, his presence overwhelming. But there was something in his eyes now that Merlin couldn’t ignore: something wild, something dark.
Arthur’s hand shot out, grabbing Merlin by the wrist, his grip tight enough to make Merlin gasp, though the sound was barely audible. “You want to play this game, Merlin?” Arthur growled, his voice like silk, but with an underlying steel that sent a shiver through Merlin’s spine. "You’d better be ready for the consequences."
Merlin’s chest tightened, his breath catching in his throat as he looked up at Arthur, feeling the weight of the moment press in around them. He had no idea what would happen next, but he wasn’t going to back down. He wasn’t going to be the one to flinch.
“I’m ready,” Merlin said, his voice steady, defiant, and laced with a touch of something reckless. The silence between them seemed to stretch on forever before Arthur’s grip loosened just slightly, his thumb brushing against the inside of Merlin’s wrist, as if testing him—testing what would come next.
Arthur’s eyes flickered with something darker—something Merlin didn’t quite understand but was drawn to like a moth to a flame. “You think you know everything, don’t you?” Arthur said, taking a step closer, his voice almost a whisper. "You're walking a fine line, Merlin. And you’ll quickly learn what happens when you cross it."
Merlin held his ground, every inch of him wanting to close the distance between them, to let the tension explode. But he stayed still, enjoying the way Arthur towered over him, the way his professor’s control was wavering.
“What happens?” Merlin asked softly, his voice teasing, but there was a tremor of something else in his words—a mix of curiosity and challenge.
Arthur paused, his eyes flicking to Merlin’s lips for the briefest moment, then back to his eyes. For a moment, neither of them moved. The silence between them grew thick, heavy, like the world outside had disappeared. Then, with a sharp intake of breath, Arthur took another step forward, his presence almost overwhelming.
“You’ll find out,” Arthur said, voice low and commanding. "But not here. Not now."
Merlin’s heart skipped a beat, and for the first time since this game had started, he felt the weight of the situation. He was no longer just playing with fire—he was standing in it.
As Arthur turned to face the door, the tension in the room didn’t dissipate—it thickened, settling between them like an unspoken promise. Merlin wasn’t sure what would happen next, but he couldn’t deny the thrill running through him. He was intrigued—and that was a dangerous thing when it came to Arthur Pendragon.
The next lecture arrived faster than Merlin had expected, though his mind had been reeling since that tense moment with Arthur. The lingering tension from their last encounter hung in the back of his mind, an unspoken weight that seemed to pull at him every time he looked at the professor.
Today, though, he decided to play it differently. The class felt like it stretched on for hours as Arthur droned on about the intricacies of Tudor court politics, his voice smooth and steady, filled with authority. But Merlin? He barely heard a word. He was too focused on the man standing at the front of the room, too focused on the way Arthur’s eyes seemed to flicker toward him every now and then, almost as if he were waiting for something.
Merlin remained unusually quiet throughout the lecture. His usual antics—teasing, distracting, daring—were absent. Instead, he leaned back in his chair, his eyes fixed on Arthur, his thoughts a swirl of curiosity and mischief. His heart raced as he wondered what might happen after class, if the tension between them would finally crack.
Arthur seemed to notice the change, his sharp eyes flicking over Merlin more than once, though he kept his usual calm, professional exterior. Merlin didn’t know what to make of it. The silence between them only seemed to thicken, making his anticipation rise.
Finally, as Arthur wrapped up his lecture, he turned toward the class, about to dismiss everyone.
“Any questions?” Arthur asked, his voice still authoritative, his eyes scanning the room.
The room was quiet for a moment, but then Merlin raised his hand, his heart thudding as if it were somehow louder than his thoughts.
Arthur’s gaze landed on him immediately. “Yes, Merlin?” he said, a hint of curiosity edging his voice, but with a slight suspicion.
“I have a question for the professor,” Merlin said, his tone deliberately slow, the words drawn out. His eyes didn’t leave Arthur’s. "About... the Tudor dynasties."
Arthur's brow furrowed slightly, the usual flicker of amusement from Merlin's antics absent. “Well, I’m all ears, Merlin. What is it?”
Merlin hesitated for just a moment, letting the silence stretch for a fraction longer, before he lowered his hand, slowly standing from his seat. The rest of the class began packing up their things, eager to leave, completely unaware of the subtle shift in the air between Merlin and Arthur. Merlin could feel his pulse racing, the weight of what he was about to do settling in.
The students filed out of the room, laughing and talking amongst themselves, completely oblivious to the charged atmosphere between the two of them. Only when the last student exited and the door clicked shut did the real tension settle back into the room.
Merlin took a step forward, his movements slow and deliberate, making sure that Arthur was watching him. The space between them felt small, suffocating in the best way. Arthur, still standing near the front of the room, gave Merlin a sidelong glance, his expression unreadable, but his eyes sharp.
“You’re awfully quiet today, Merlin,” Arthur said, his voice even, though there was a hint of something almost... expectant. "What’s on your mind?"
Merlin smiled, a little wicked, as he moved closer to Arthur. “You know, Professor,” he said, his voice soft and low, “I’ve been thinking a lot about… your lessons. And how well you’ve been teaching them.” He let the words hang, heavy with something unspoken. “But maybe there’s something else you could teach me. Something more... personal.”
Arthur’s eyes narrowed at the implication, but Merlin didn’t give him the chance to respond before continuing. He took another step closer, until the air between them seemed to spark. “You’ve been so... focused on your students, on history. But I think there’s something you’re forgetting about, don’t you?”
Arthur took a breath, his jaw tightening, but he didn’t move. The silence between them stretched, but it wasn’t uncomfortable—it was thick, charged with something both exciting and dangerous. Merlin had crossed the line, but he didn’t care. He was too far in now to stop.
“What is it you think I’ve forgotten?” Arthur finally said, his voice low, the hint of a challenge in his words.
Merlin took one more step forward, his lips curling into a grin as he leaned in, his voice a whisper just inches from Arthur’s ear. “You’ve forgotten how to have fun, Professor. How to let go.”
Arthur’s breath hitched for just a second, but he quickly regained his composure. His eyes flashed with something hard to place—anger, frustration, or maybe something more, but the flicker of tension in them told Merlin that he had hit a nerve.
“You think this is a game, Merlin?” Arthur said, his voice colder now, almost like a warning. “You’re walking a very thin line.”
Merlin chuckled, his smile never faltering. “Maybe I like living on the edge.”
Arthur took a step forward, now closing the space between them entirely, his eyes locked onto Merlin’s with an intensity that made his pulse quicken. “You should be careful, Merlin,” Arthur said, voice low, dangerous. “I don’t play games. Not with you.”
Merlin raised an eyebrow, the challenge flickering in his gaze. “I think you do. You just don’t realize it yet.”
Arthur’s eyes flashed with something darker now—something that was unmistakable. His hand shot out suddenly, gripping Merlin’s wrist firmly, pulling him just a fraction closer. The air between them was practically humming with tension.
“Don’t think for a second that you can push me, Merlin,” Arthur growled, his voice strained but still controlled. "You’re testing my patience, and you’ll learn very quickly what happens when you do."
Merlin’s heart raced, but he stood his ground, meeting Arthur’s gaze with defiance. “I’m not afraid of you, Professor.”
Arthur’s grip tightened for just a second, and then, as if he were weighing something in his mind, he released Merlin’s wrist, his gaze lingering on him. For a moment, it felt like the world had stopped, the silence hanging heavy around them. Then, with a barely perceptible smirk, Arthur spoke again, his voice laced with tension.
“Don’t tempt me any further, Merlin,” Arthur said quietly, turning to walk toward the door. “You don’t know what you’re getting yourself into.”
Merlin didn’t follow him, instead staying rooted to the spot, feeling the aftershocks of their exchange still reverberating in his chest. He couldn’t help the smile that tugged at his lips.
Oh, he was getting exactly what he wanted. And now, it was just a matter of time before the game would truly begin.
Merlin stood there, his heart pounding in his chest, as he watched Arthur walk toward the door, the professor’s every movement sharp and purposeful. The tension from their interaction still hung in the air like a thick fog. He could feel it, the undeniable pull between them, the magnetic force that seemed to draw them closer no matter how much they tried to resist it.
Arthur reached for the door handle, but before he could open it, Merlin spoke up, his voice smooth and teasing. “You’re leaving already, Professor?”
Arthur paused, his hand still on the door, but he didn’t turn around. For a moment, the silence between them stretched out again, thick with anticipation. Then, in a low, almost imperceptible murmur, Arthur replied, “You’re not making this easy, Merlin.”
Merlin’s grin widened, the feeling of power filling him with a strange sense of satisfaction. He took a few slow steps toward Arthur, his eyes locked on the professor’s rigid posture. “Why make it easy?” he said, his voice playful, almost daring. “Where’s the fun in that?”
Arthur’s hand tightened around the door handle, but he still didn’t turn to face him. His voice, when it came, was strained. “You don’t know what you’re asking for.”
“I think I do,” Merlin replied softly, his tone laced with an intensity that matched Arthur’s. “You’re just not ready to admit it yet.”
Arthur’s jaw clenched, but still, he didn’t look back at Merlin. For a moment, it felt like the room was holding its breath, like the two of them were teetering on the edge of something, something dangerous and thrilling. And then, finally, Arthur spoke again, his voice calm, though it carried an edge that was unmistakable.
“You’re playing with fire,” Arthur said, almost sounding tired, but there was still a flicker of something in his voice—something dangerous that made Merlin’s pulse quicken. “And I don’t think you’re ready to get burned.”
Merlin’s gaze flickered to Arthur’s back, then back to his face, his heart racing as the professor stood there, on the edge of the door, but not fully walking away. He had pushed Arthur to the brink, and now, Merlin knew that everything had changed. The tension between them wasn’t just a game anymore—it was real, and the stakes were higher than either of them had anticipated.
“I think you’re wrong, Professor,” Merlin said softly, his voice almost a whisper as he took another step closer. “I’m already burned. And I think you like it that way.”
Arthur’s body tensed, his hand still gripping the door, but for the first time, he hesitated. He didn’t turn around, but there was something in his posture, something that told Merlin he had him—just for a second. The tiniest of openings, but it was enough.
“I don’t play games with my students, Merlin,” Arthur said, though his voice had dropped to a lower, more dangerous level. “And you’re dangerously close to finding out why.”
Merlin took a final step forward, closing the distance between them completely. His breath caught in his chest as he stood right behind Arthur, the heat of his body radiating toward the professor, the proximity almost too much to ignore. He could feel the electric tension between them, the way their breaths seemed to sync, as if they were both holding their breath, waiting for the other to make the next move.
“You say you don’t play games,” Merlin whispered, his voice husky. “But I think you’re already playing, Professor. I think we both are.”
Arthur’s hand dropped from the door handle, his body turning slightly toward Merlin, the silence between them stretching taut. The air felt thick, heavy with anticipation, like everything was about to explode, but neither of them made the first move.
For a long moment, neither of them spoke. The world outside the classroom ceased to exist. It was just the two of them, alone in this charged space, their breaths the only sound that filled the room. And then, with an almost imperceptible shift, Arthur moved.
Without warning, he turned fully, his eyes locking with Merlin’s, and for the briefest moment, Merlin thought he saw something in Arthur’s eyes—a flicker of something raw, something desperate that mirrored his own feelings. But it was gone in an instant, replaced by the same cool, composed exterior Arthur always wore.
“You don’t know what you’re asking for, Merlin,” Arthur said again, but this time, his voice was softer, almost like a challenge.
Merlin took another step forward, closer than ever, his voice dropping to a quiet, dangerous whisper. “Maybe I do,” he said, his breath warm against Arthur’s ear. “Maybe I’ve been asking for it all along.”
Arthur’s eyes flickered, but he said nothing. For a moment, everything felt suspended, and then, almost like a snap of a thread, he stepped back, his voice a low growl. “Get out.”
Merlin’s heart skipped, his breath catching in his throat at the sudden change in tone. The challenge was there, clear in Arthur’s eyes, but so was something else—something that Merlin couldn’t place, yet. The adrenaline from the game, the push and pull between them, had reached its peak, but Arthur wasn’t backing down.
Merlin took a slow step backward, but he didn’t turn to leave just yet. He held Arthur’s gaze for one last moment, his heart still thumping in his chest. “You say ‘get out,’ but I think you want me to stay.”
Arthur didn’t respond immediately, but the flicker of something in his eyes said it all. Merlin knew he had him, just for a moment. But it wasn’t enough. Not yet.
With a final smirk, Merlin turned, his heart still pounding in his chest. He stepped toward the door, but as his hand touched the handle, he paused, glancing back one last time.
“I’ll be back, Professor,” Merlin said softly, his tone playful, yet laced with a promise. “You can’t keep me away forever.”
Arthur didn’t respond, but Merlin could feel the weight of his gaze on him as he left the room, the tension still crackling in the air, unresolved.
And Merlin knew one thing for certain: this was far from over.
Merlin stepped out of the classroom, his breath coming in shallow bursts, heart still racing. The weight of the moments he had just shared with Arthur hung over him like a storm cloud. Every word, every glance exchanged between them felt charged with something neither of them had fully acknowledged—something too dangerous to name, yet undeniable.
As he walked down the empty hallway, Merlin couldn't help but replay the look in Arthur's eyes just before he left the room. It was a mixture of frustration, desire, and something darker, something he couldn’t fully comprehend. And that only intrigued him more. The professor, as commanding as he was, seemed to be as much a prisoner of his own control as he was the one pulling the strings.
Merlin stopped at the end of the hall, leaning against the wall, his mind whirling. He wasn’t sure how much longer this delicate game would last—how much longer they could keep dancing around each other before one of them cracked, before it all exploded.
He should have left it there. He should have walked away, gone back to his room and focused on his studies like he was supposed to. But no, Merlin knew himself too well. This—whatever it was between him and Arthur—was too tempting, too intoxicating to let go.
The next day’s lecture came, and Merlin entered the classroom with a mix of anticipation and dread. He couldn’t quite shake the feeling that something had shifted since their last exchange. Arthur had been distant during their last conversation, but Merlin could feel the crackling energy between them. It was undeniable now. And as much as Merlin wanted to keep pushing, to tease and provoke, there was a part of him that wondered what would happen if he stopped playing the game altogether.
Arthur was already at the front of the room when Merlin arrived, but he didn’t look up immediately. He was bent over some papers, his attention fixed on his notes. The class trickled in, the usual chatter filling the air, but Merlin didn’t take his usual seat at the front. Instead, he chose a place further back, watching Arthur from the corner of his eye.
It didn’t take long for Arthur to notice his presence. His sharp gaze flicked toward Merlin, meeting his eyes for just a moment before quickly moving away. Merlin couldn’t help but smirk. It was almost like a game in itself—the way Arthur was trying to keep his cool while the tension between them was so obvious.
The class began, but Merlin remained quiet, his usual teasing remarks absent. He was watching Arthur, studying him. There was something different today—a quiet intensity, like Arthur was waiting for something to happen, something to break. And Merlin? He could feel it, too.
Arthur didn’t bring up their last exchange, but Merlin could see the flicker of restraint in his movements, the way his gaze would linger on Merlin for just a second too long, only to dart away.
It wasn’t until the end of class, when everyone began to pack up, that Merlin stood up. This time, instead of walking straight to the door, he lingered. He raised his hand, a smirk tugging at his lips as he caught Arthur’s attention.
“Professor,” he said, voice low, “I have another question for you.”
Arthur’s eyes narrowed, but there was something in his gaze now—something more wary, more cautious. “What is it, Merlin?”
The students were already filing out, their chatter fading into the background, but Merlin made sure to keep his eyes locked on Arthur’s. Slowly, he walked to the front of the room, his steps purposeful, deliberate.
“I’ve been thinking,” Merlin began, his voice almost casual, but his tone dripping with underlying challenge. “About the whole power thing we’ve been discussing. You know, how people like Henry VIII manipulate those around them.”
Arthur’s jaw clenched slightly, his eyes flickering with the faintest hint of irritation, but Merlin wasn’t finished.
“And I was wondering,” Merlin continued, leaning just a little closer, “do you think you—” he let the words drag out, teasing, “—might be one of those people? Someone who knows how to control others, to get them to do exactly what you want?”
Arthur’s eyes narrowed even further, his lips pressing into a thin line. “Merlin,” he said, voice low, almost threatening, but still controlled, “you’re pushing it.”
Merlin didn’t back down, his smile widening. “Maybe I like to push things. I think you like it too.”
Arthur took a step forward, closing the distance between them, his expression unreadable. For a moment, neither of them spoke. Merlin’s pulse quickened, the air thick with tension. He could see the flicker of something in Arthur’s eyes now—something he hadn’t seen before. It was a mix of frustration, curiosity, and something darker, something Merlin had no doubt was finally reaching the surface.
“Don’t tempt me,” Arthur warned softly, his voice a growl as he looked down at Merlin, inches from him now. “You won’t like the consequences.”
Merlin stood his ground, barely an inch away from Arthur now. He could feel the heat radiating off the professor’s body, feel the restraint in the way Arthur held himself, like he was fighting against something primal, something undeniable.
“Maybe I want to find out what those consequences are,” Merlin said, his voice low, his breath warm against Arthur’s ear.
Arthur froze, his body rigid, and for a moment, neither of them moved. It was as if the world outside had ceased to exist, and all that mattered was the tension between them. Then, without warning, Arthur pulled back slightly, his eyes hard.
“Leave, Merlin,” he said, his voice harsh, but there was a flicker of something else in it—something almost reluctant, like he was tempted to give in, to let the game go further.
Merlin felt his pulse race. He had pushed Arthur to the edge, and the professor had reached his breaking point.
But Merlin wasn’t done yet. He wasn’t backing down. Not now.
He took one last step forward, his voice soft and teasing. “I’m not done with you yet, Professor,” Merlin said, his words almost a promise. “Not by a long shot.”
Arthur’s jaw clenched, but he didn’t respond. He turned away, a sharp motion, as if trying to distance himself from Merlin's presence, but the tension was still there, hanging thick in the air.
Merlin smiled to himself as he turned and walked out of the classroom, feeling the weight of their unspoken exchange lingering between them.
The game had only just begun.
Merlin had spent the entire week walking a fine line between excitement and apprehension, the tension between him and Arthur Pendragon still burning in the back of his mind. But tonight, he was determined to forget about the professor and let loose. He needed a break, a distraction, so when Gwaine and the others invited him to hit the club, he eagerly agreed. It was time to let off some steam.
The night air was chilly as they all piled into a cab, the usual banter between Gwaine, Lancelot, Percival, Leon, and Elyan filling the space. Gwen, Lancelot’s girlfriend, was beside Merlin in the backseat, smiling and chatting with him as they sped toward the club.
“You’ve been awfully quiet lately, Merlin,” Gwen remarked, raising an eyebrow. “You’re usually the one keeping us entertained with your crazy stories.”
Merlin gave her a sheepish grin, trying to push aside the memories of his last lecture with Arthur. “Just… thinking about stuff,” he said vaguely, leaning his head against the window. “You know how it is.”
Elyan, Gwen’s brother, leaned over the seat to catch his attention. “Stuff? Merlin, that doesn’t sound like you. Come on, man, spill. What’s going on?”
Merlin hesitated, glancing over at Lancelot, who raised an eyebrow. “It’s nothing. Really.”
But Gwaine, ever the troublemaker, leaned forward, a grin plastered on his face. “Come on, Merlin. We’re your friends. You can tell us anything.”
Merlin rolled his eyes but couldn’t resist the playful atmosphere. “Alright, fine, you really want to know?”
The cab pulled up to the club, and they all spilled out, the music thumping from inside. They made their way to the bar, ordering drinks, and Merlin, feeling the buzz already taking hold of him, decided to let it all slip.
“I’ve got a bit of a… thing for someone,” Merlin said, his words already slurring just a bit from the alcohol.
Gwaine’s eyes lit up. “Oho, a mystery crush. Who is it? Tell us.”
Merlin grinned, feeling bolder with every drink. “It’s… someone I shouldn’t even be thinking about, really.”
Lancelot raised an eyebrow. “Someone you shouldn’t be thinking about? That’s usually the most fun.”
Merlin leaned in closer, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. “It’s Professor Pendragon.”
The group went quiet for a moment, then Leon blinked, a look of disbelief crossing his face. “Wait. Professor Pendragon? The one who teaches history?”
Merlin nodded enthusiastically, a wicked grin spreading across his face as he downed another shot. “Yeah, that’s the one. Arthur Pendragon.”
Gwaine’s eyes twinkled with amusement. “Professor Pendragon, huh? Merlin, I didn’t know you had a thing for older guys.”
Merlin waved a hand dismissively, his confidence growing with the alcohol. “He’s not just older, Gwaine. He’s—” he paused, searching for the right words, “—hot. Like, absolutely ridiculously hot. And he knows it. Every time he looks at me, I swear to God, it’s like he’s undressing me with his eyes.”
The group laughed, but Merlin didn’t hold back. The alcohol had loosened his tongue, and now that he’d started, he couldn’t stop. “I can’t get him out of my head. I keep imagining all the things he could do to me, you know?” He leaned back in his seat, taking another sip of his drink, the buzz only amplifying his boldness. “The way he looks at me during lectures, the way his voice gets low when he gets irritated with me… God, I want him to just—”
“Woah, woah, woah,” Elyan interrupted, raising his hands in mock shock. “I did not expect to hear about Merlin’s secret fantasies about his professor tonight!”
Lancelot’s expression was a mix of curiosity and amusement. “Damn, Merlin, I didn’t know you had it in you. Professor Pendragon, huh? What is it about him? Is it his… teacher vibe?”
Merlin snorted, taking another sip. “It’s everything. His confidence. The way he commands a room. The way his jaw tightens when he’s frustrated. And the way his suits fit him so damn well—honestly, it should be illegal.”
Gwen laughed, shaking her head. “Merlin, you sound like you’re describing a romance novel hero.”
Merlin grinned, clearly getting more into it the drunker he got. “That’s what he is! Every lecture, it’s like he’s leading me on. I just want to see what would happen if I pushed him a little more, see how far I could take it. Like, what if he just—” He paused, feeling a little bolder than usual, “—took control, and I didn’t have a choice in the matter?”
Lancelot raised an eyebrow. “Damn, you’re serious about this.”
Merlin’s grin didn’t falter. “What can I say? I’m a sucker for the power dynamic, and Arthur Pendragon? He’s got it in spades. You know the type, the man who’s got everything under control, and yet… all he needs is someone to make him lose it.” He leaned in, his voice lower now, teasing, “And I just want to be that someone.”
The group went quiet for a moment, clearly processing what Merlin had just said. Gwaine, ever the flirt, leaned back in his chair, eyes sparkling. “Well, well, Merlin. I’ve got to say, I’m impressed. I didn’t think you had it in you to get so worked up about a professor.”
Merlin laughed drunkenly, shaking his head. “Don’t tell me you’ve never thought about it. Come on, Gwaine, you’ve got to admit, it’s hot when someone’s in control like that. The teasing, the power… knowing you’re the one they want.”
Percival, who had been quietly sipping his drink, finally spoke up. “You know, I didn’t think we’d end up here tonight, but I gotta say, I think you’re onto something with this whole Professor Pendragon thing. Sounds like you’ve got it bad, Merlin.”
Merlin didn’t even try to hide his smirk. “Oh, I do. And I can’t stop thinking about what it would be like… when he finally gives in.”
The group chuckled, clearly entertained by Merlin’s drunken ramblings. Gwaine slapped him on the back, his grin wide. “Well, if you ever want us to help you make a move, we’ve got your back. But I think you might have to be the one to push him, Merlin.”
Merlin’s grin grew wider. “Oh, I’ll be the one to push him. Believe me.”
As the night wore on, the group continued to tease Merlin about his professor crush, but he couldn’t stop talking about Arthur. The alcohol had loosened his tongue, and now that he’d started, he couldn’t stop imagining what it would be like to have the professor in a completely different context.
It was a dangerous game he was playing, but he couldn’t deny the way the thought of Arthur made his pulse quicken.
The night carried on, the music pulsing through the club, the laughter and chatter of his friends fading into the background. Merlin’s mind, however, was still buzzing—not just from the alcohol, but from the lingering thoughts of Arthur Pendragon. Every word he'd said about his professor kept spinning in his head, the fantasies, the desires... It was all becoming a fever dream of imagined encounters.
Then, something caught his eye.
Across the room, through the swirling lights and the hazy fog of the dance floor, he spotted a man. Tall, with the same commanding presence, the same jawline, the same shade of blonde hair—everything. His heart skipped a beat. The resemblance was uncanny. For a moment, Merlin thought it might actually be Arthur. But no... no, it couldn’t be. Arthur wouldn’t be here. Not in a club like this. But damn, the man was practically a carbon copy of his professor.
Merlin’s pulse quickened as he watched the man—his doppelgänger—talk to some friends, the same confident stance, the same way he tilted his head. It felt like fate. Maybe this was some kind of twisted sign.
Merlin was already halfway across the room before he could stop himself, his friends’ voices barely registering as he pushed his way through the crowd. His thoughts were hazy with the alcohol, and he didn’t want to think anymore. He wanted distraction. And who better to distract him than a man who looked just like him?
The closer he got, the more Merlin’s heart raced. He approached the man from behind, just close enough that the guy would feel his presence. He could already feel the heat between them.
“Hey,” Merlin said with a grin, his voice smooth as he slid into the man’s line of sight. “You look familiar.”
The man turned toward him with a raised brow, eyes scanning Merlin before a smirk tugged at his lips. The resemblance to Arthur was uncanny, and for a second, it almost felt like a dream. But it wasn’t Arthur. No, this man was a stranger, and Merlin could see that now.
“Familiar?” the man repeated, his voice low and amused. “I don’t think we’ve met. But I’ll admit, I like your boldness.”
Merlin’s grin deepened, a little more flirtatious now. “Well, I like confidence. And you, my friend, have it in spades.”
The man laughed, taking a step closer. “Is that so?”
Merlin stepped in, a little closer now, the heat of the club’s lights mixing with the heat of the exchange. He could feel the man’s body just inches away, could almost feel the electric tension in the air between them. He let the flirtation take over, the buzz of alcohol making him bolder with every second.
“Yeah,” Merlin said, voice lowering, “I think you’ve got exactly the kind of confidence I’ve been looking for.”
The man’s smirk turned into something more intense. “Is that right?” he said, his tone now a little more seductive. “Maybe you’re looking for something more.”
Merlin’s breath caught in his throat. He could feel the space between them closing, their proximity making the entire world around them blur into oblivion. The man leaned in slightly, eyes locked on Merlin’s lips before meeting his gaze again.
Without warning, the man grabbed Merlin’s wrist, pulling him roughly against the nearest wall. The music pounded around them, and for a brief moment, everything else disappeared. The man’s body pressed against his, hard and commanding, and Merlin gasped at the suddenness of it. His head spun, his pulse thumping in his ears, and he couldn’t help but let out a low chuckle.
“So fast,” Merlin teased, feeling the heat of the stranger’s body on his.
“Don’t play games with me, Merlin,” the man growled, his lips dangerously close to Merlin’s ear. “You wanted this.”
The man’s lips collided with Merlin’s in an intense kiss, hot and insistent. The kiss was full of hunger and desperation, the kind of kiss that left no room for hesitation. Merlin moaned, feeling the pressure of the man’s body, the way the stranger’s hands gripped his shoulders and pushed him further into the wall. Every second of the kiss sent electricity through his body, and he could feel his knees weakening beneath him.
But it wasn’t just the kiss. It was the way the man moved—how he gripped Merlin’s hair, pulling his head back to expose the soft skin of his neck. Merlin’s breath caught in his throat, a shiver running down his spine as the stranger kissed down the side of his jaw, his mouth trailing to the sensitive skin of his neck.
“You’re mine tonight, aren’t you?” the man growled, his voice rough.
Merlin could barely respond, his head tilting back further, giving the man more access. He could feel the heat building between them, a pressure that seemed to burn. The man’s lips latched onto his neck, sucking roughly, marking him. Merlin gasped, his fingers digging into the man’s shirt, the friction of his body against Merlin’s making everything spin.
“God,” Merlin breathed, his voice shaky. “Yes, do it. Mark me.”
The man growled low, and with one final sharp pull, he sucked hard against the sensitive skin of Merlin’s neck, biting down just enough to leave a mark. The sensation sent waves of heat flooding Merlin’s body, his eyes closing as he lost himself in the sensation.
The man pulled away slightly, looking down at Merlin with a smirk, his lips still glistening from their kiss. “You’re good, Merlin. Real good.”
Merlin panted, the world spinning around him. He could feel the mark on his neck, the slight sting of it, and the wetness of the stranger’s kiss still lingering. His body felt on fire, his mind struggling to keep up.
“You’re damn right I am,” Merlin murmured, voice thick, his hand sliding over the man’s chest.
For a moment, they stayed locked in each other’s gaze, the intensity of the moment catching them both in a breathless silence.
But then, the spell broke. Merlin blinked, his thoughts coming back to him, and he realized who he was with.
This wasn’t Arthur. It couldn’t be. It was just some guy who happened to look like him. But even as the realization hit, Merlin couldn’t ignore the fact that he had enjoyed this. He had let himself get swept up in the heat of the moment, and the rush of it all.
Merlin’s breathing steadied, and he gave the stranger a final, lingering glance, the spark of something mischievous in his eyes.
“I’ll let you think you’ve won this round,” Merlin said, his voice a little quieter, “but trust me, I’m not done yet.”
And with that, he slipped away, the stranger’s smirk still burned into his mind as he disappeared back into the crowd.
It wasn’t Arthur, but Merlin knew one thing for sure—this night had been dangerous, and it was only getting started.
The night had come to an end, and the last of the music had faded into the distance as Merlin and his friends finally parted ways, each heading back to their respective dorms. The alcohol had started to hit him harder than he’d expected, the world around him swaying in a pleasant blur as he stumbled across campus, the cool night air brushing against his flushed skin. His mind kept flickering back to the stranger he’d kissed in the club, the heat of the moment still pulsing in his veins, but as much as he wanted to shake the memory, something lingered—something he couldn’t quite name.
Merlin fumbled for his phone, squinting to see the screen as he tried to check the time. The night was late, and he could already feel the exhaustion settling in, but his mind refused to settle. It kept spinning. Thoughts of Arthur, the way his professor’s voice had haunted him, the way he’d imagined Arthur pinning him down, those strong arms keeping him in place… He shook his head, trying to push the thoughts away, but they kept coming back, stronger, sharper, and more insistent.
And then, through the haze of his thoughts and the dizziness of his steps, Merlin saw him.
A figure appeared ahead of him, a flash of blonde hair in the moonlight. At first, Merlin thought it was a trick of his drunken vision. But no. As the figure got closer, he could make out the familiar outline of the man running toward him, the familiar set of broad shoulders, the same determined stride. It was him.
Arthur.
Merlin’s breath caught in his throat as his blurry vision cleared just enough for him to see his professor—his very real, very alive professor—dressed in black athleisure, his muscles visibly straining under his shirt as he jogged across the campus. He was sweaty, his face flushed from the exertion, and every step he took seemed to radiate with the kind of power and control that Merlin had been imagining all night.
Merlin’s heart raced, a jolt of heat flooding his chest at the sight. He couldn't help it—his mind wandered immediately to the image of Arthur pinning him down over a desk, those strong arms keeping him right where he wanted to be. He gulped, the thoughts flooding him faster than he could control.
Arthur slowed as he got closer, a concerned look on his face as his gaze locked onto Merlin, who had stopped in his tracks, still trying to process what was happening. His professor’s eyes widened as he took in Merlin’s disheveled state, the slight stumble in his steps, and the way his eyes seemed to be struggling to focus. The concern on Arthur’s face was immediate, and for a moment, all the teasing and the games from earlier seemed to fade, replaced by something much more serious.
"Merlin?" Arthur said, his voice soft but sharp with concern. "What the hell are you doing out here?"
Merlin blinked, his mind swirling as his eyes darted from Arthur’s concerned expression to his muscular frame. He could barely form a coherent thought, but his mouth worked before his brain could catch up. "P-Professor?" he stuttered, his words coming out slurred, the reality of the situation crashing into him with a sudden intensity.
Arthur stopped in his tracks, his eyebrows knitting together as he took in Merlin’s disoriented appearance. "What the hell is going on? Are you... are you drunk?" Arthur’s voice dropped in a way that made Merlin’s heart skip. It wasn’t just the authority of a professor—there was something more personal in his tone, something that caught Merlin off guard.
Merlin’s pulse quickened, his heart thudding erratically in his chest. It felt like the whole world had gone quiet, the campus around them fading into a blurry haze as he stood there in front of Arthur, the professor’s presence overwhelming.
“I… I’m fine,” Merlin muttered, but he knew he wasn’t fooling anyone. His body felt light, and his head felt like it was swimming. The mixture of alcohol and the proximity to Arthur only made it worse. His eyes wandered, taking in every inch of Arthur’s sweaty, athleisure-clad body—those toned arms, the way his shirt clung to his chest, the hint of a six-pack visible beneath his clothes. Every inch of him screamed control, and Merlin couldn’t stop the thoughts that rushed back.
Arthur watched him closely, clearly not convinced. He took a step closer, his eyes scanning Merlin’s face as he seemed to assess the situation.
Arthur’s gaze flickered over Merlin’s face, taking in every detail—the flushed cheeks, the unfocused eyes, the subtle sway of his body as he tried to stay steady. But then, his eyes moved lower, and his sharp breath caught as he saw the mark on Merlin’s neck, dark and obvious against his pale skin. The bruise was still fresh, a deep purple hue, and as Arthur’s eyes traced it, a sharp pang of something unfamiliar twisted in his chest. Something possessive. Something... jealous.
Arthur's eyes snapped back up to Merlin’s face, his expression hardening, though his voice was tight with barely concealed frustration. “Who gave you this?” he asked, his tone stern, his gaze boring into Merlin as his finger traced the mark gently, as if he couldn’t resist.
Merlin froze, the touch making him shiver, the warmth of Arthur’s finger sending a wave of heat through his already overheated body. His heart pounded in his chest, his mind racing as he tried to make sense of the whirlwind of emotions and sensations crashing over him.
“W-who?” Merlin stammered, his voice slightly unsteady as he hiccupped and struggled to focus. He swallowed hard, his pulse quickening at the way Arthur’s finger lingered on his neck, drawing circles over the mark. He felt it in his core—the need to say something, but his brain was too foggy to form coherent thoughts. “He… he looked like you,” Merlin whispered, barely able to control the words as they slipped from his lips. “I wish it were you.”
Arthur froze, his finger halting its movement on Merlin’s neck. The air between them thickened, charged with something unspoken. Merlin’s breath hitched as the words hung in the air, the confession out there now, raw and open. He didn’t know why he’d said it, didn’t know if it was the alcohol or the way Arthur’s proximity had heightened everything inside him, but it was out there, hanging between them.
Arthur’s throat bobbed as he swallowed hard, a flush creeping over his face. His pulse quickened, and for a split second, Merlin thought he saw something flicker in Arthur’s eyes—a mix of surprise, frustration, and maybe... longing? But before Merlin could analyze it further, Arthur broke the silence, his voice hoarse.
“You wish it were me?” Arthur repeated, his tone low, and it sent a shiver down Merlin’s spine. There was something dangerous in the way he said it, something that made Merlin’s chest tighten, his heart racing faster than before.
Merlin nodded, his body swaying slightly as he tried to meet Arthur’s gaze, his thoughts scattered and dizzy. "Yeah..." he murmured, barely able to keep his voice steady. "I want it to be you. I want it to be you, Arthur."
Arthur stepped back abruptly, like he was trying to put some distance between them, though it felt like the air was still thick with that same unspoken tension. He ran a hand through his hair, his eyes darting around the campus before locking back onto Merlin. There was a mix of something—something too complicated for Merlin to read—flashing in Arthur's eyes.
“You don’t know what you’re saying,” Arthur muttered, his voice quieter now, almost strained. “You’re drunk, Merlin. You don’t—”
“I know what I’m saying,” Merlin cut in, his voice soft but certain, the alcohol still lingering in his system but his desire clearer than ever. “I’m not… I’m not blind.” He took a small step closer, his lips curling slightly. “You’ve been teasing me all semester, Arthur. And I—” He paused, his breath hitching. “I want more. I don’t want to just imagine it. I want you.”
Arthur’s jaw tightened, his body stiffening, as if battling some internal conflict. His hand dropped to his side, and he exhaled sharply, his chest rising and falling as he took in Merlin’s words. For a moment, Merlin thought he might walk away, but Arthur’s eyes were still locked on him, the storm brewing beneath his gaze.
“You’re not in a position to know what you want, Merlin,” Arthur said, his voice dangerously low. “You’re not thinking clearly. And I’m not going to let you say things you’ll regret later.”
Merlin’s heart pounded in his chest. It was as if a challenge had been thrown down—something deeper than just his drunken confessions, something that resonated between them. He looked at Arthur, the desire, the pull stronger than ever.
“I don’t care if I regret it,” Merlin said softly, taking another small step toward Arthur, his eyes never leaving his. “I want you. And I don’t think it’s just the alcohol talking. I think you want me too.”
Arthur’s eyes narrowed at the words, and for a moment, Merlin saw a flicker of hesitation in his professor’s eyes. That hesitation was all Merlin needed.
Before Arthur could say anything else, Merlin closed the gap between them, his hand reaching out to gently tug at the hem of Arthur’s shirt, his breath shallow as his body pressed into Arthur’s, the heat between them undeniable. “Please,” Merlin whispered, his voice shaky but determined. “I want this. I want you.”
Arthur looked down at him, his face a mask of conflicting emotions. His eyes flashed with something like restraint, but also something deeper, something dangerous. His fingers twitched, like he was fighting with himself, trying to keep control. But when he finally spoke, his voice was thick, hoarse, and something in it broke all Merlin’s resolve.
“You’re making this harder than it already is,” Arthur muttered, his breath warm against Merlin’s lips.
Arthur stepped back, his chest rising and falling with uneven breaths as he tried to regain some semblance of control. Merlin could see the conflict on his face—Arthur was clearly torn between desire and something else, something that forced him to keep his distance.
Merlin felt the space between them growing, the warmth of Arthur’s presence slipping further away. He didn’t want it to end. Not now. Not when he was so close.
“I’m taking you home,” Arthur said, his voice rough and firm, like a boundary that couldn’t be crossed. “What building are you in?”
Merlin’s heart skipped a beat at the sudden change in tone, but he tried to ignore the pang of disappointment in his chest. He pouted, unable to suppress the feeling that Arthur was pulling away, even if it was for his own good.
“Why?” Merlin asked, his voice a little more whiny than he intended. He could feel the alcohol still muddling his brain, but his feelings for Arthur were so sharp now, they overshadowed everything else.
Arthur’s eyes softened for just a second, the hint of something like affection underneath the sternness. He sighed, his voice quieter. “You’re not in any condition to be walking around like this, Merlin. I’m getting you back to your dorm.”
Merlin reluctantly pointed down the path, his hand slightly shaky as he gestured in the direction of his building. “It’s just… over there,” he muttered, a little disappointed, but he tried to mask it with a grin.
Arthur nodded, his gaze flicking back to Merlin with a steady look that held something like concern, maybe even something gentler. “Alright. Let’s get you there.”
Without another word, Arthur stepped closer and slipped one of Merlin’s arms around his shoulders, supporting him as they started walking. Merlin’s head spun, but the proximity of Arthur, his strong arm under his own, the heat of him so close—it was almost too much to bear. Every step was torture, every second with Arthur felt like they were crossing a line they both knew they shouldn’t.
Merlin wanted to press closer, to lean into him, to feel the warmth of Arthur’s body against his. He was so close. Too close. But Arthur was still holding back, still trying to do the right thing, even if Merlin wasn’t sure what the right thing was anymore.
When they finally reached the door of Merlin’s dorm, Merlin’s breath quickened. He could barely think straight, but one thing was clear: he couldn’t let this end. Not like this.
Arthur stopped just outside, looking down at Merlin, his face unreadable, though there was a trace of tension in his jaw. “Alright,” Arthur said, stepping away slightly, letting go of Merlin’s arm. “You’re home safe now. You can make it the rest of the way from here.”
Merlin looked up at him, suddenly feeling cold as the distance between them grew. He didn’t want it to end like this. Not after everything that had happened tonight.
Before Arthur could take a step back, Merlin reached out, grabbing onto the sleeve of Arthur’s shirt, pulling him toward him, closer. His fingers clung to Arthur’s arm with a desperate strength, and he looked up at the professor with wide, pleading eyes.
“Come in.” Merlin’s voice was soft, but there was a desperate edge to it, his words almost shaking as he spoke. He wanted to feel Arthur close again, to not let the night slip away so easily. “Please,” he added, his voice cracking just slightly. “Stay. Just for a little while.”
Arthur’s expression shifted, his eyes darkening with something Merlin couldn’t quite place, but it wasn’t just the desire Merlin had expected. It was something else, something cautious. He stepped back slightly, pulling Merlin’s hand gently from his shirt. “Merlin…” Arthur’s voice was strained now, the quiet tone laced with frustration. “You know I can’t do that.”
Merlin’s chest tightened. The words stung, more than he’d expected, and for a moment, it felt like the ground was slipping beneath him. “Why not?” Merlin asked, his voice almost pleading now, as his eyes searched Arthur’s for an answer he wasn’t sure he’d get.
Arthur let out a breath, his face softening, but only just. “Because it’s not the right thing. You’re not yourself right now.” He paused, his gaze flickering briefly to the ground. “And I’m not going to take advantage of you when you’re like this.”
Merlin’s stomach twisted with a mixture of frustration and something deeper, something that felt like longing. He wanted to argue, to say something that would change Arthur’s mind, but the words caught in his throat. He had no idea what he even wanted anymore, only that the distance between them felt unbearable.
Arthur’s gaze softened for a moment, his hand resting gently on Merlin’s shoulder as if he were trying to reassure him, but it wasn’t enough to erase the disappointment gnawing at Merlin’s insides. “You need rest, Merlin,” Arthur said quietly. “We’ll talk when you’re sober. You’ll see things differently, I promise.”
Merlin’s heart sank, but he nodded reluctantly, letting go of Arthur’s arm. “I’ll… I’ll see you in class, then,” Merlin said, his voice small, feeling suddenly very sober despite the alcohol still swirling in his system.
Arthur gave a small nod, but it was clear he wasn’t going to push further tonight. “Get some sleep, Merlin. Please.”
With one last look at Arthur, his professor’s face unreadable, Merlin slowly turned and opened the door to his dorm, stepping inside. He watched as Arthur lingered for a moment before turning to leave, his figure disappearing down the hall.
Merlin leaned against the door, his mind a whirlwind of emotions, still haunted by Arthur’s words. And though he had no idea what the future held, the way Arthur had looked at him tonight, the way his touch had sent shivers down his spine—it wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.
But for now, he would have to wait. And maybe, just maybe, that would make the moment when things finally changed all the more worth it.
Merlin closed the door behind him, leaning against it for a moment as his chest heaved with the emotions still swirling inside him. The night had been a whirlwind, the heat of the club fading into the sharp, aching reality of what had just happened. He could still feel the lingering pressure of Arthur's touch on his arm, the way his professor had looked at him, torn between desire and restraint. Merlin swallowed hard, trying to shake off the feeling of longing that clenched in his chest.
He moved slowly across the room, his mind replaying the scene outside the door over and over, the words Arthur had said echoing in his head. You’re not yourself right now. The words stung. Merlin wanted to believe he had known exactly what he wanted, even in the haze of alcohol, but the reality of Arthur's rejection—if he could even call it that—left a bitter taste in his mouth.
Merlin sank onto his bed, his head still spinning. He could feel the mark on his neck, the imprint of someone else's lips, and it stung with an intensity that was somehow worse than the emotional ache. He closed his eyes, trying to breathe, but all he could think of was the image of Arthur—the way he had looked at him when he pulled away, the way his face softened for just a second, as if he was fighting something he didn’t understand either.
The night was quiet now, and Merlin’s thoughts were louder than ever. He’d never felt so torn. He had wanted Arthur for so long, his attraction growing with each passing day, each stolen glance during class, each unspoken moment. And now, here he was, alone, aching with the desire that Arthur had refused to acknowledge.
Merlin tossed and turned for hours, the night stretching long and agonizing. He couldn’t push the thoughts of Arthur out of his mind, and the more he thought about it, the more frustrated he became. He wasn’t going to wait forever. He couldn’t. If he was going to get what he wanted, it had to be soon.
The next day, Merlin dragged himself to class, his thoughts still reeling from the night before. His eyes felt heavy, his head still a little foggy from the alcohol, but he pushed it all down as best as he could. He couldn’t let anyone see how much he was struggling with the situation. Not with his friends, not with Arthur.
When he stepped into the classroom, he immediately spotted Arthur standing by the chalkboard, his back to the class as he wrote something on the board. His presence filled the room, sharp and undeniable. Merlin hesitated at the door, his heart pounding in his chest. He didn’t know what to expect, didn’t know if Arthur would even look at him the same way after the night before.
But then, Arthur turned, his eyes immediately locking onto Merlin’s. His expression was neutral, controlled, but there was a flicker of something in his gaze—something unreadable. Merlin’s breath caught in his throat, and he quickly averted his gaze, moving to his usual seat.
Arthur’s voice broke the silence as he began the lecture, but Merlin couldn’t focus. All he could hear was the faint echo of Arthur’s words from last night, the way he had looked at him, and the way he had pulled away.
“Merlin,” Arthur said suddenly, his voice cutting through Merlin’s spiraling thoughts. “What’s going on with you today? You’re unusually quiet.”
Merlin looked up, startled, and found Arthur’s gaze fixed on him, sharp and observant. He opened his mouth to say something, but his voice faltered. He hadn’t expected this kind of attention from Arthur today. Not after everything.
“I’m just… tired,” Merlin managed to mutter, his voice hoarse. “Late night.”
Arthur studied him for a moment, his gaze lingering. Then, he nodded, though there was a trace of something unreadable in his eyes, before turning back to the class. Merlin couldn’t stop the feeling of longing that surged inside him. He needed to speak with Arthur. Needed to understand what this was between them. But the opportunity never came.
The lecture ended, and the class began to filter out, but Merlin remained seated, watching as Arthur packed up his things, his movements deliberate, controlled. Merlin hesitated for a moment, and then, gathering every ounce of courage he had left, he stood up, making his way to the front of the room. His heart pounded in his chest, each step heavy with the weight of what he was about to do.
“Professor?” Merlin called, his voice tentative, and Arthur turned, raising an eyebrow at him.
“Yes?” Arthur’s tone was guarded, but not unkind.
Merlin took a deep breath. “We need to talk,” he said quietly, his voice steady despite the racing of his heart.
Arthur’s expression softened, though only slightly. He glanced around the empty classroom, his gaze flickering back to Merlin. “Now isn’t the time, Merlin. You should get some rest.”
“I don’t need rest,” Merlin replied quickly, his voice sharper now, frustration creeping in. “What I need is for you to stop pretending like you don’t want this. Like you don’t want me.”
Arthur’s eyes flickered with something—something that made Merlin’s heart race—but he quickly masked it, his expression hardening again. “Merlin,” he said, his voice low but firm, “you’re not thinking clearly. You’re letting alcohol dictate your actions, and you need to stop.”
“I know what I want,” Merlin shot back, his voice thick with emotion. “And you want me too, Arthur. I saw it in your eyes last night.”
Arthur took a step forward, closing the distance between them. His jaw clenched, and for a moment, it seemed like he might say something, something that would change everything. But then, he just sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration.
“I’m not doing this, Merlin,” Arthur said, his voice strained. “Not here. Not like this.”
Merlin’s chest tightened with a mixture of disappointment and longing. He didn’t want to back down, didn’t want to let it go, but Arthur’s words were final. Merlin felt the weight of it, and for the first time, he felt the full impact of how much he wanted Arthur—and how far he was willing to push to get him.
“I’m not giving up,” Merlin whispered, his voice softer now, almost a plea.
Arthur’s eyes softened just for a moment before he turned away. “We’ll talk later,” he said quietly, walking toward the door. “But not now. Not like this.”
Merlin watched him leave, his heart heavy in his chest. But the spark of hope that had ignited in him last night still burned bright. He wasn’t done yet. And maybe, just maybe, Arthur wasn’t either.
Merlin stood there, his pulse still racing, his heart a mix of frustration and something far more dangerous. He could feel the weight of Arthur’s words hanging in the air, the door closing behind him, leaving Merlin standing alone in the quiet classroom. His thoughts raced, tumbling over each other, and for the first time in a long while, Merlin felt completely out of control.
Arthur had pulled back again, but Merlin couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something more beneath the surface. He could see it in the way Arthur’s gaze lingered, the hesitation in his voice. Arthur was fighting something—fighting him. And that made Merlin’s desire grow even stronger.
The class was over, but Merlin couldn’t bring himself to leave. Not yet. He needed answers. He needed to know if this—whatever this was between them—was something Arthur was willing to explore, or if he was just going to shut him out again.
Merlin finally made his way out of the classroom, the weight of the encounter still heavy on his shoulders. As he walked across campus, he tried to steady his thoughts, but it was impossible. Every corner of his mind was filled with Arthur—the way he had looked at him the night before, the way his touch had sent sparks through him. The confusion, the desire, it all felt like a storm inside him, one that he didn’t know how to stop.
The next day, Merlin arrived at his next class, and to his surprise, Arthur was already there, his usual spot at the front of the room. He was focused, already immersed in his notes, his attention fully on the lecture material. But when Merlin walked in, Arthur’s eyes flicked up, meeting his gaze for the briefest of moments. There was something in that look—something soft, almost like a question, but then it was gone, replaced by the familiar coolness, the professional mask.
Merlin took his seat, his heart still pounding in his chest. He tried to focus on the lecture, but every word Arthur spoke only seemed to send a jolt of heat through him, pulling his attention back to the man at the front of the room. The quiet between them was almost unbearable. They were in the same room, so close yet so far apart. Merlin’s mind raced, but he did his best to hide the way his emotions were spilling over, the way his body ached for something he wasn’t sure he was ready to admit.
After class, as the students began filing out, Merlin lingered at his desk, trying to push the knot of tension in his chest down. He had to say something. He couldn’t keep walking around pretending that nothing had happened. That he hadn’t been affected by everything that had passed between them.
When the room cleared out, Arthur started to gather his things, but Merlin was already there, standing just a few feet away. His heart thudded in his chest, and for the first time, the words felt like they were choking him.
“Professor,” Merlin said, his voice shaky, his throat dry. “We need to talk.”
Arthur looked up, his expression unreadable. There was a flicker of recognition in his eyes, but it was quickly masked. He put down his papers, looking at Merlin more seriously now.
“About what?” Arthur asked, his voice low, guarded.
Merlin stepped closer, his breath catching in his chest. “About last night,” he said, his voice quieter now, but still full of the tension he couldn’t suppress. “About... us.”
Arthur’s eyes flashed with something—something Merlin couldn’t read—and he straightened up, stepping around his desk. “Merlin, this isn’t something we should be talking about here,” Arthur said, his voice firm. “You’re confused, and I don’t want to be part of making this worse.”
Merlin shook his head, stepping closer again, not willing to let him slip away this time. “I’m not confused, Arthur,” he said, his voice soft but full of intent. “I know exactly what I want.”
Arthur's expression faltered for a moment, his eyes narrowing as if trying to keep control. “What do you want, Merlin?” His voice was low, barely a whisper, but there was something in the way he asked it that made Merlin’s pulse quicken.
Merlin swallowed, his heart racing. This was it. This was the moment. “I want you, Arthur,” he said, his voice steady now. “I want this.” His hand reached out, just brushing the edge of Arthur’s sleeve, his fingers lingering there, a silent plea.
Arthur stiffened, his breath catching in his throat. For a long moment, he didn’t speak, and the silence between them seemed to stretch. Merlin watched him, eyes wide, trying to read the emotions flickering across Arthur’s face. His jaw clenched, his fists tightening at his sides, but he didn’t pull away.
“Merlin…” Arthur finally breathed, his voice rough, full of restraint. “I told you. This isn’t a game. You’re not thinking clearly. You’re still…” He trailed off, his gaze falling to the ground as if he were searching for the right words. “You don’t want this.”
Merlin took a deep breath, the words coming out like a challenge now, full of conviction. “I do want this. And I want you to stop pretending like you don’t feel the same way.”
Arthur’s eyes snapped back to him, and there it was—a flicker of something. A crack in the walls he had so carefully built. Merlin’s heart skipped, the hope building in his chest, but Arthur took a step back, running a hand through his hair in frustration.
“I can’t,” Arthur said, his voice strained, almost breaking. “I can’t do this. Not now. Not with you.”
Merlin’s chest tightened, but he didn’t back down. “Why not?” he whispered, desperate. “What’s stopping you?”
Arthur closed his eyes for a moment, his hands gripping the edge of the desk, like he was fighting against something inside him. Then, he opened his eyes again, his voice firm but quiet. “Because I care about you, Merlin. And that’s the problem.”
Merlin’s breath caught in his throat. He didn’t know how to respond, didn’t know what to say to make Arthur see that this was what he wanted, that he was what he wanted.
Merlin stood frozen, the words hanging in the air, both unfamiliar and deeply personal. Because I care about you. His mind struggled to process the weight of them. The realization hit him like a rush of cold air—Arthur wasn’t rejecting him just out of professional duty or because of their student-teacher dynamic. No, it was something deeper. Arthur was holding back because he cared, and that made everything more complicated.
Merlin's breath hitched. The vulnerability in Arthur’s words made something inside him stir. He had thought the distance between them was simply a matter of authority, but now he understood—there was more at play here. Arthur’s restraint wasn’t just about rules or control; it was because he felt something, something real. Something that terrified him.
“I don’t understand,” Merlin whispered, his voice thick with emotion. He stepped closer, not allowing the distance between them to grow, despite the weight of Arthur's words. "You care about me, and that’s why you’re pushing me away?"
Arthur closed his eyes for a brief moment, exhaling deeply, as if trying to steady himself. His hand ran over his face in frustration, and when he opened his eyes again, they were filled with a mix of longing and regret.
“You don’t get it, Merlin,” Arthur said, his voice soft but firm. “I’m not pushing you away because I don’t want you. I’m pushing you away because I do want you. But I can’t let that happen. Not like this.”
Merlin’s chest tightened, his mind spinning. Not like this. Was he really willing to walk away because of the rules, because of what he thought was best? It didn’t make sense. The pull between them was undeniable.
“But I don’t care about the rules,” Merlin said, his voice rising with frustration, his chest heaving with the emotions he couldn’t suppress. “I don’t care about any of that. All I care about is you. And I think, deep down, you care about me, too. Or am I wrong?”
Arthur’s gaze softened, but only for a moment before his expression hardened again. "You're not wrong," he admitted, his voice quieter now, full of pain and longing. "But that’s exactly why I can’t do this. If I let myself give in to this, it will ruin everything. I’m your professor, Merlin. I have a responsibility to you and to everyone else."
Merlin shook his head, not willing to let go of the truth he’d just uncovered. “I’m not just anyone, Arthur. I’m not just your student. You’re not going to ruin anything by being with me. And you know it.”
Arthur stepped back, his hand going to his forehead as if he were trying to think, trying to calm the storm brewing inside him. “Merlin, I’m not doing this to hurt you,” he said, voice tight with emotion. “But if I let this happen, if I let you in, things will get messy. I won’t be able to stop myself from wanting you. And that’s the problem. I want you more than I should, and that’s why I can’t do this.”
Merlin felt the weight of those words like a blow to the chest. I want you more than I should. The desire in Arthur’s voice was unmistakable, but it was tinged with guilt, with fear of the consequences. Arthur wasn’t just holding back for the sake of propriety—he was terrified of the feelings between them.
Merlin closed the distance between them again, his voice quieter but filled with resolve. “Arthur, I don’t care about any of that anymore. I don’t care about consequences, or the rules. I care about you. And I don’t want you to push me away because you’re scared of what might happen.”
Arthur’s eyes flickered, his resolve faltering. “You don’t understand, Merlin,” he whispered. “I can’t let this happen. I can’t let myself fall for you.”
Merlin reached up, cupping Arthur’s face gently in his hands. The touch was electric, and the moment their skin met, it was like everything else in the world fell away. He could feel Arthur’s pulse under his fingertips, the heat of him, the way he was trembling with emotion.
“You already have,” Merlin said softly, his voice barely more than a breath. “You already care about me. And I know you feel this—whatever this is between us. I’m not going to let you push me away anymore, Arthur. I’m not letting this go.”
Arthur’s breath caught in his throat, his eyes darkening with a mixture of desire and desperation. His hands trembled as he reached for Merlin, his touch tentative at first, as if testing the waters, before he finally pulled him closer, his lips crashing against Merlin’s in a kiss that was full of frustration, need, and something deeper—a hunger that had been building for far too long.
For a moment, everything blurred. The world outside the two of them ceased to exist as they tangled together, the kiss growing more urgent, more desperate. Arthur’s hands found their way to Merlin’s waist, pulling him in, his body pressing against Merlin’s in a way that felt as if everything they’d fought for, everything they’d tried to suppress, was finally coming to the surface.
Merlin’s heart pounded in his chest, his hands gripping Arthur’s shoulders, pulling him closer. He could feel the tension between them finally breaking, the weight of their unspoken feelings, the desire that had built over the course of months finally unleashed.
But even as they kissed, Arthur pulled back just slightly, his breath ragged. “We can’t do this,” he whispered, his voice full of regret. “Not like this, Merlin.”
Merlin’s eyes searched Arthur’s, his chest rising and falling rapidly. He could see the struggle in Arthur’s face, the conflict tearing him apart. “Why not?” Merlin breathed, his fingers threading through Arthur’s hair, pulling him back for another kiss.
Arthur didn’t pull away this time, but his voice was strained when he spoke again. “Because if I let myself have you, Merlin, I won’t be able to stop.”
Merlin’s heart skipped at those words, the rawness in them. “Then don’t stop,” he whispered, his lips brushing against Arthur’s in a tender kiss. “Don’t stop this time.”
Arthur’s eyes closed as he leaned into the kiss, his hands pulling Merlin closer, his lips melding with his in a kiss that spoke of everything they’d been denying, everything they’d been holding back. And for the first time, neither of them pulled away. They couldn’t.
Merlin’s head spun, the world around them fading into nothing as he was consumed by the feeling of Arthur’s lips against his. The urgency of their kiss, the rawness of it, sent a flood of warmth through his entire body. Arthur’s hands gripped him tighter, pulling him closer as if he couldn’t get enough, and Merlin responded, his own hands finding their way to Arthur’s neck, to his hair, trying to bring him even closer.
The kiss deepened, urgent, desperate—a culmination of all the tension that had been building between them for weeks. The need, the longing, the desire, it was all spilling out now, unrestrained. And yet, it was more than just physical. It was raw, emotional—something deeper than either of them had expected to feel.
Arthur’s hands slipped down Merlin’s back, his touch possessive, but gentle at the same time, as if he was testing the waters, afraid of crossing a line, even as he pulled Merlin closer, his body flush against his. Merlin let out a soft gasp when he felt the heat of Arthur's chest, the rhythm of his breath, his heartbeat pounding in sync with his own.
Arthur pulled back slightly, his lips brushing Merlin’s as he whispered, “You have no idea what you’re doing to me, Merlin.” His voice was hoarse, thick with desire, but there was a trace of something else, something vulnerable in it. Merlin could feel the conflict still raging in him, even as their bodies pressed together, as their lips moved in sync.
“I know exactly what I’m doing,” Merlin breathed back, his hands tightening in Arthur’s shirt. “And I want you. I’ve always wanted you.”
Arthur’s eyes closed briefly, his chest rising and falling with every breath, and for a second, Merlin thought he might pull away. But when Arthur’s eyes met his again, there was no hesitation. Just a raw need, a yearning that was undeniable. Arthur’s lips captured his again, this time slower, more deliberate, as if he were savoring the moment, allowing himself to feel everything he had been holding back.
Merlin responded with equal fervor, his hands roaming over Arthur’s body, feeling the taut muscles beneath his fingertips, the heat radiating from him. He was intoxicated by the touch, by the feel of Arthur under his hands. The world outside seemed irrelevant now; it was just them, and everything they had kept buried between them was finally surfacing.
Arthur’s hand slid down to Merlin’s waist, pulling him even closer, if that was even possible. Merlin could feel the strength in Arthur’s arms, the way they seemed to hold him without restraint. It felt right, in a way Merlin had never expected. This wasn’t just about desire. It was about connection, about understanding.
Arthur broke the kiss, his forehead resting against Merlin’s as he gasped for air. His hands were trembling against Merlin’s skin, and it was almost as if he were fighting to keep himself together.
“I can’t just do this,” Arthur murmured, his voice breaking. “You don’t understand what this means, Merlin. You’re my student. This... this is wrong.”
Merlin leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to Arthur’s lips, not allowing him to pull away. “It’s not wrong, Arthur,” he whispered. “What’s wrong is pretending this doesn’t exist. Pretending we’re not both feeling this. I’ve wanted you for so long. And I know you want me too.”
Arthur’s eyes closed again, and Merlin could see the battle within him. His lips parted, as if he was about to say something, but no words came out. Instead, he kissed Merlin again, but this time it was slower, deeper, more tender than before. It was like a surrender, like Arthur was finally giving in to what they both knew was inevitable.
When the kiss broke again, they were both breathless, but this time, Arthur didn’t pull away. He kept his arms around Merlin, holding him tightly as if afraid to let go. “Merlin…” he whispered, his voice ragged. “I’m scared of what this means. I’m scared of how far this will go.”
Merlin’s heart swelled at the vulnerability in Arthur’s voice. He placed his hand gently on Arthur’s chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath his fingers. “We’ll figure it out,” Merlin said softly, his voice full of certainty. “Together.”
Arthur let out a deep breath, his hand cupping Merlin’s cheek as he looked at him with a mixture of longing and something else. Something Merlin couldn’t quite place.
“I don’t know if I can stay away from you anymore,” Arthur admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. “I don’t want to.”
Merlin’s heart skipped at the admission, his pulse quickening. “Then don’t.”
Arthur’s gaze flickered between Merlin’s eyes, the desire still burning in his, but now there was something else. Something deeper. Slowly, as if testing the waters, Arthur leaned in, brushing his lips against Merlin’s one last time, soft and slow, like he was savoring the moment.
And this time, Merlin didn’t pull away. Instead, he pressed into the kiss, his arms slipping around Arthur’s neck as he kissed him back, more slowly this time, savoring the feeling of their closeness. It was the first time they had truly allowed themselves to be vulnerable, truly allowed themselves to feel. And neither of them was going to let go now.
The kiss deepened, becoming more desperate, more heated, but when it broke, Arthur didn’t pull away. He stayed close, his forehead resting against Merlin’s, both of them breathing heavily. They were both standing on the edge, but this time, neither of them was afraid to fall.
“We’re not done, Arthur,” Merlin whispered, his fingers tracing over the lines of Arthur’s jaw. “This is just the beginning.”
Arthur didn’t respond immediately, but Merlin could feel the weight of his words. His lips brushed against Merlin’s one more time, softer this time, like a promise. “No,” Arthur whispered, his voice low, “this is just the beginning.”
And Merlin knew it was true. Because everything had changed, and they were finally allowing themselves to explore what had been building between them for so long.
And this time, neither of them was going to hold back.
The next class came much sooner than either of them had expected. The night they’d shared—the kiss, the confessions, the quiet promises—had left both of them on edge, yet it also seemed to solidify something between them. There was no denying what had passed between them, but neither Merlin nor Arthur was quite sure what to do with it in the light of day.
Merlin arrived a little early, heart pounding as he entered the classroom. He couldn’t help but glance at the spot where Arthur usually stood, at the front of the room, his presence commanding. The professor was already there, standing by the board, scribbling something down, his back turned to the room. The instant Arthur’s broad shoulders came into view, Merlin’s breath caught. He couldn’t help but be drawn to the way Arthur moved, the way his posture seemed to radiate authority, even now, even after everything that had happened between them.
Merlin took his seat, his hands betraying his nervous energy as he fiddled with his pen, his thoughts racing. What were they supposed to do now? What was going to happen when class started? What would Arthur do? Would they continue to ignore the electric tension between them, pretending nothing had changed, or would they finally face the reality of what had passed between them?
Arthur turned around as the last of the students trickled in, meeting Merlin’s gaze for just a moment before his face slid into the familiar, neutral expression. His lips parted as if to say something, but he stopped himself, clearing his throat. Merlin could see the tension in Arthur’s jaw, the way he seemed to be holding back something.
“Alright, settle down,” Arthur said briskly, his voice back to its usual authoritative tone. The familiar classroom atmosphere settled in as Arthur began the lecture, but Merlin’s mind was elsewhere. Despite his best efforts, he couldn’t keep his focus entirely on what Arthur was saying. Instead, his thoughts kept drifting to the lingering memory of their time together—how Arthur had looked at him, how they had kissed, how it felt like the air between them had shifted completely.
The lecture passed in a blur, and Merlin’s attention kept slipping, his eyes occasionally flicking to Arthur, catching glimpses of the professor’s tense posture, his clenched jaw, and the occasional glance that lingered on Merlin just a fraction too long. It was like a silent battle between them, and Merlin couldn’t help but wonder what Arthur was thinking, what he was feeling. Was he regretting it? Was he wondering if they could go back to how things were before, when they were just student and professor? Or was he just as confused and conflicted as Merlin?
The class came to a close, and the students began packing up their things, but Merlin hesitated. Arthur hadn’t dismissed the class yet, but the way he was acting, the way his eyes kept flicking toward Merlin, suggested that he had something on his mind. As the last of the students left, Merlin stayed behind, watching Arthur carefully. He couldn’t wait any longer. He had to know.
Arthur finished gathering his notes, his eyes briefly meeting Merlin’s. “Merlin,” he said, his voice guarded, but there was a slight tremble in it that Merlin didn’t miss. “We need to talk.”
Merlin nodded, standing up slowly, his chest tightening with anticipation. “I know,” he said quietly, walking toward the front of the room, closer to Arthur. “I’ve been thinking about everything.”
Arthur’s gaze softened, but there was still an underlying tension there, a quiet unease. “This isn’t easy,” Arthur admitted, his voice rough. “I shouldn’t have let things go that far. I shouldn’t have kissed you.”
Merlin’s heart dropped, but he stood his ground, meeting Arthur’s gaze firmly. “You wanted to kiss me,” Merlin said softly, his voice steady. “And I wanted it too. You can’t pretend it didn’t happen. We can’t pretend it didn’t happen.”
Arthur didn’t respond immediately. He took a deep breath, his hand running through his hair in a familiar gesture. “It’s not just about wanting you, Merlin,” he said quietly, his eyes filled with frustration. “It’s about us. You’re my student. I can’t let myself cross that line. I can’t let it get complicated.”
Merlin stepped closer, his heart pounding in his chest. “Why not? Why can’t we just be honest with each other?” He reached out, lightly touching Arthur’s arm, trying to close the distance between them. “I’m not asking you to throw everything away. I’m just asking for a chance. A chance for us to figure this out.”
Arthur’s eyes flickered between Merlin’s, and for a moment, Merlin thought he saw something in Arthur’s gaze—something that wasn’t just concern or guilt, but something deeper. But then it was gone, and Arthur stepped back slightly, his voice hardening again.
“We can’t,” Arthur said, his voice firm now. “It’s too complicated. We’ll figure this out... later. But not now. Not here.”
Merlin’s chest tightened, the weight of Arthur’s words sinking in. “I don’t want to wait,” he whispered, frustration lacing his tone. “I don’t want to pretend anymore. I don’t want to keep acting like this doesn’t matter.”
Arthur’s jaw tightened, but his eyes softened, just for a moment. He looked at Merlin like he was trying to find a way out, a way to make this easier. But there was no easy way out. Merlin could see that now.
“I know you don’t,” Arthur said quietly. “But the truth is, I’m scared too. And it’s not just the rules. It’s everything else. It’s what this means for us. If we let ourselves fall into this... I don’t know what happens next. I don’t know where this goes.”
Merlin’s heart raced, but his voice was steady. “I don’t know where this goes either. But I’m not running from it anymore. And I’m not going to pretend that it doesn’t matter, Arthur. You matter.”
Arthur looked at him, his expression unreadable for a long moment. Finally, he let out a long breath and stepped closer, his gaze searching Merlin’s face as if he were looking for something, some sign that this wasn’t just a fleeting moment.
“Merlin…” he started, his voice soft but firm, “You don’t know what you’re asking. I’m not sure I can do this.”
Merlin swallowed, his heart aching, but he didn’t pull back. “I’m not asking for you to have all the answers, Arthur,” he said softly. “I’m asking for a chance. That’s all.”
Arthur stared at him for a long moment, his eyes flickering with something—confusion, desire, vulnerability—and then, slowly, he nodded. “I’m not saying this is going to be easy,” Arthur said quietly, his voice rough. “But... we’ll figure it out. Together.”
Merlin’s heart swelled, and before he could stop himself, he stepped forward, pulling Arthur into a kiss, gentle this time, but filled with everything they had been holding back. It wasn’t the fiery, desperate kiss they’d shared before. It was softer, filled with the promise of something real. Something they were both ready to face.
When they finally pulled away, they both stood there, breathing heavily, their foreheads pressed together.
“Together,” Merlin whispered, his voice filled with quiet certainty.
Arthur nodded, his lips brushing Merlin’s in a tender kiss once more. “Together,” he whispered back, and this time, Merlin knew it wasn’t just a promise. It was the beginning of something new. Something neither of them was willing to walk away from anymore.
The weeks that followed their conversation were a delicate balance for both of them. The weight of their unspoken feelings hung between them like a thin thread, taut and trembling, but neither of them was willing to cut it yet. They didn’t have answers, and they certainly didn’t have a roadmap for what came next, but they were both unwilling to ignore the undeniable pull between them.
Merlin couldn’t help himself. The allure of Arthur, the way he looked, the way he commanded a room—it made everything else feel distant and irrelevant. The more time they spent together in class, the more Merlin found himself slipping back into his old habits, teasing Arthur, letting his eyes linger just a little too long, his voice a little more teasing, his touch a little more intentional. He could feel the tension grow with each encounter, and every time Arthur’s face flushed, every time he caught the flicker of hesitation in his professor’s eyes, Merlin felt a sense of victory—a sweet, electrifying satisfaction that only pushed him further.
It was a game now—an unspoken one, but one that Merlin relished. And Arthur? Arthur was, to put it simply, flustered.
One particular Tuesday, as Arthur paced in front of the class, lecturing on the Tudors, Merlin couldn’t stop his gaze from following him. Arthur was wearing his usual professional attire, the suit tight enough to emphasize the muscles in his chest, but not so tight it was inappropriate. Merlin’s eyes narrowed, and he couldn’t help but let his thoughts wander. The way Arthur stood, his shoulders broad, the grace in his movements, the way he brushed his fingers through his hair—it all made Merlin feel like the room had suddenly become too hot.
Merlin’s pen tapped against his notebook in rhythm with his thoughts, but the words on the page no longer made sense. His thoughts were consumed by the way Arthur moved, the way his voice dipped when he emphasized certain points. Merlin leaned forward slightly, his gaze sharp, intent.
“Merlin,” Arthur’s voice broke through his thoughts, suddenly addressing him directly, his eyes narrowing in slight exasperation. “Are you paying attention, or just daydreaming?”
Merlin straightened up in his chair, a mischievous grin curling his lips as he met Arthur’s gaze. “Oh, I’m paying attention,” he said, voice low and teasing. “I was just thinking... maybe you should teach me more than history. You know, like... how you manage to look so good in a suit.”
The class was almost entirely silent, save for the muffled chuckles of a few students nearby who had overheard Merlin’s comment. Arthur’s cheeks flushed a deep red, his eyes flashing with something that bordered on irritation, but there was a hint of something else—a mixture of surprise and confusion—and maybe even a little bit of flustered.
“Merlin,” Arthur said, his voice slightly strained, his hand tightening around the chalk. “That’s not... this is a classroom, not a... a fashion show.” He cleared his throat, clearly trying to regain some control. “Please, try to focus.”
Merlin couldn’t resist. “I am focusing,” he said, leaning back in his chair, his voice almost too smooth. “But how am I supposed to concentrate when you’re distracting me so much? With those broad shoulders... the way you walk... It’s hard to ignore, Professor.”
Arthur’s breath hitched just slightly, and Merlin could see the tiniest flicker of something in his eyes—something dangerous—but Arthur quickly masked it, moving away to write something on the board. His back was to the class, but Merlin could tell that his professor’s posture had stiffened, his shoulders tense.
“Oh, I’m sure it’s a real challenge for you,” Arthur muttered, more to himself than anyone else. “Merlin, stop distracting me, or I’ll have to... really take points off your participation.”
Merlin’s grin widened. “You wouldn’t do that,” he said, his voice teasing, playful. “Because you like having me around. Don’t you, Arthur?”
There was a noticeable pause. Arthur froze, his hand hovering in the air above the board, and for just a moment, Merlin saw the vulnerability in his professor’s eyes—something that made his heart beat faster, something that made him feel like he was on the edge of something real. But just as quickly as it appeared, the moment disappeared, and Arthur resumed writing on the board.
“Just... focus on your notes, Merlin,” Arthur said, his voice lower now, slightly clipped. "We’ll talk about your... participation later."
Merlin didn’t stop. Every moment was a game now, and he was determined to win. He pushed his luck just a little further.
Later that week, after class, Merlin lingered in the hallway, waiting for Arthur to finish gathering his things. He leaned casually against the wall, his fingers playing idly with the strap of his bag, eyes half-lidded, a smirk playing on his lips. Arthur finally appeared from the classroom, looking a little more disheveled than usual, like he hadn’t quite gotten a grip on whatever had been running through his mind during the lesson.
“Professor,” Merlin called, pushing himself off the wall, his voice deliberately soft, teasing. “You should be careful. You’re looking a little flustered today. What’s going on? Am I distracting you too much?”
Arthur looked up at him, his eyes narrowing in a mix of frustration and something else—something that made Merlin’s pulse quicken. “Merlin,” Arthur started, his voice tight. “I told you, this... this isn’t something we can keep doing. It’s unprofessional.”
Merlin stepped closer, his grin widening. “You can say that all you want,” he murmured, “but I think we both know that you don’t mind. You don’t mind at all, do you?”
Arthur’s eyes flicked to his lips, then back to his eyes, and for a split second, Merlin thought he saw a flicker of something—something dangerously close to a smile. But Arthur quickly suppressed it, taking a step back. “You really don’t know when to stop, do you?”
Merlin chuckled, walking with Arthur as he made his way down the hallway. “Maybe I like getting under your skin,” he teased, his voice dripping with mischief. “Maybe I like making you... flustered.”
Arthur let out a frustrated breath, his shoulders stiffening again, but Merlin could see the corners of his lips twitch upward, as if he was fighting it—fighting the smile that threatened to break through. “I’m not flustered,” Arthur muttered, but his voice betrayed him—just a little.
Merlin, emboldened by the slight crack in Arthur’s composure, leaned in just slightly, his voice softer now, almost playful. “Oh, you definitely are,” he whispered. “And I think you like it.”
Arthur’s breath hitched at the close proximity, and for a moment, neither of them moved. The air between them felt electric, charged with something they both refused to acknowledge, but both secretly longed for. Finally, Arthur cleared his throat, breaking the moment.
“Merlin,” Arthur said, his voice firm now, but his eyes were still a little uncertain. “We can’t keep doing this.”
Merlin smiled, his heart racing. “We’ll see about that,” he replied, his voice full of challenge and something else—something deeper that Arthur wasn’t quite ready to face.
As they walked down the hallway together, the tension between them crackled, unspoken and yet undeniable. And Merlin knew one thing for certain: this wasn’t over. Not by a long shot.
The days after their last encounter seemed to blur together, the pull between them growing stronger, more undeniable with each passing class. Merlin couldn't shake the image of Arthur—his lips, his touch, the vulnerability that flickered in his eyes whenever their gazes met. The teasing, the flirtation, the games—they were becoming less and less a way to distract themselves, and more a way to give in to what had been simmering beneath the surface for so long.
It had been another long day of lectures, and Merlin had stayed behind after class, pretending to finish his notes, waiting for the perfect opportunity to speak to Arthur, to catch him alone. His heart pounded with anticipation. This was it. No more teasing, no more waiting. Merlin knew what he wanted—and he was going to make sure Arthur did, too.
As he stepped into the hallway, he spotted Arthur leaving a faculty meeting, looking exhausted, running a hand through his hair as he muttered to himself, probably about the paperwork or whatever else was bothering him. His focus was on the papers in his hand, and he didn't notice Merlin approaching until he was mere feet away.
With a mischievous grin tugging at his lips, Merlin took the chance. He moved quickly, stepping up behind Arthur and pulling him into the nearest doorway. Before Arthur could react, they were both inside the dimly lit janitor's closet. The door clicked shut behind them, and the world outside seemed to fade. For a moment, neither of them spoke.
Arthur's breath hitched in surprise, but his eyes flashed with something else—something darker, something far more heated than usual. “Merlin,” he began, his voice low, a mix of frustration and desire. “What the hell are you—”
Merlin didn’t give him a chance to finish. He grabbed Arthur by the collar of his shirt, pulling him in close, their lips crashing together in a fierce kiss that left no room for hesitation. Arthur's body tensed for just a moment, but then he responded, his hands finding their way to Merlin’s waist, gripping him tightly, pulling him closer.
The kiss was rough, urgent—like they were both trying to make up for lost time, trying to erase the distance they had been keeping between them. Merlin could feel the heat of Arthur’s body against his, the way his professor’s breath quickened as their lips moved together. The cold, sterile air of the janitor's closet didn’t seem to matter anymore. All that mattered was the feel of Arthur—his hands on Merlin’s skin, the pressure of his body, the desperate need that had finally reached the surface.
Arthur pulled back briefly, his breath ragged as he looked into Merlin’s eyes, his expression a mixture of desire and frustration. “You are insane,” Arthur murmured, though there was no denying the hunger in his voice.
Merlin smirked, his heart pounding in his chest. “You love it,” he whispered back, his hands moving up to Arthur’s hair, tugging him back into the kiss. This time, Arthur didn’t hold back. His hands slid down Merlin’s back, pressing him against the shelves that lined the closet. They were both breathing heavily now, and Merlin could feel the way Arthur’s body responded, the way he was just as consumed by this as Merlin was.
Arthur kissed him harder, his lips moving down Merlin’s neck, and Merlin couldn’t suppress the gasp that escaped his lips when he felt Arthur’s teeth scrape against his skin. “You’re killing me,” Arthur muttered against Merlin’s skin before sucking a mark just below his jaw. Merlin’s hands dug into Arthur’s shoulders as a shiver ran down his spine.
“I’ve been waiting for you to do this,” Merlin gasped, his voice breathy, filled with a mixture of lust and longing. “Waiting for you to stop holding back.”
Arthur groaned, his mouth moving lower along Merlin’s neck, leaving another mark just below his collarbone. “This... this is insane, Merlin,” Arthur muttered, but there was no hesitation now. He was in it, completely. “You’re going to ruin me.”
Merlin chuckled, his fingers threading through Arthur’s hair as he tilted his head back, exposing more of his neck. “I hope I do,” he whispered, voice shaky with anticipation. “Because I don’t want to stop.”
Arthur’s lips found the pulse point at the base of Merlin’s throat, and he sucked hard, leaving a deep mark, his tongue brushing over it just after. Merlin moaned, the sound echoing in the tiny, cramped space. He was burning up with need, his body pressing into Arthur’s, their chests colliding in the most delicious friction.
The intensity of it was overwhelming, and as Arthur pulled back just enough to look at Merlin, both of them breathless, they were faced with the undeniable truth. This was no longer a game. This was real.
“Merlin…” Arthur’s voice was hoarse, desperate. “We can’t… This can’t… Happen.”
But even as the words left his lips, his hands were still on Merlin’s body, his eyes filled with want. Merlin didn’t want to hear the excuses anymore. He reached up, cupping Arthur’s face in his hands, forcing him to look him in the eyes. “It’s happening, Arthur,” he whispered softly, his voice full of intent. “And we’re both done pretending it’s not.”
Arthur’s expression softened, and for a moment, Merlin thought he saw something flicker in his eyes—something that wasn’t fear, but something else. Something that mirrored what Merlin had been feeling all along. It wasn’t guilt, it wasn’t confusion—it was desire. Pure, unfiltered desire. And that was enough for Merlin.
Arthur’s lips crashed against his again, and this time, neither of them hesitated. Their kiss deepened, harder and faster than before, their bodies moving together in a way that made everything else outside this moment seem insignificant. All that mattered was the now, the heat, the connection between them. And as the marks on Merlin’s neck began to deepen, as Arthur’s hands roamed across his body, Merlin couldn’t help but think: this was it. This was real.
As the sound of footsteps echoed in the hallway outside the closet, both men froze, their breathing still ragged, and Arthur pulled away, his expression suddenly cautious. The reality of the situation crept back in—too close to the edge. “We need to stop,” Arthur said quietly, his voice strained.
Merlin’s chest tightened, but he nodded, his hands still on Arthur’s chest, feeling the rapid thudding of his heart. “Yeah, we do,” he whispered, though there was no denying the hunger in his eyes. “But we will finish this. I won’t let you forget.”
Arthur hesitated for a moment, his eyes locked onto Merlin’s, the space between them still charged with electricity. Then, with a quiet exhale, he stepped back, adjusting his shirt as he looked toward the door.
“We’ll talk about this later,” Arthur said, his voice tight.
Merlin smiled, a slow, satisfied grin. “I’m not going anywhere.”
Arthur glanced at him, his gaze dark and full of unspoken promises. “Neither am I,” he said, voice low, before finally stepping back out into the hall, leaving Merlin alone in the closet, his pulse still racing, his body burning with the knowledge that this was far from over.
Merlin was certain of one thing: Arthur might want to fight it, but neither of them would be able to resist for long.
Merlin had been pushing boundaries for weeks, and the tension between him and Arthur was at its peak. Their stolen moments, their playful banter, the teasing touches—they were all leading up to something neither of them could ignore anymore. Arthur’s restraint, his careful control, was starting to slip, and Merlin couldn’t help but enjoy every moment of it.
It was another one of those days in class. Arthur was in the middle of discussing the Tudor dynasty, his voice steady and confident as usual, but Merlin wasn’t really paying attention to the history. He wasn’t even sure what had come over him, but the pull of Arthur’s presence in front of the room was too much, and the words slipped out before he could stop them.
Arthur had just written something on the board about the political alliances of Henry VIII when Merlin leaned back in his chair, his voice barely above a whisper, but just loud enough for Arthur to hear. “You know, Professor,” Merlin said, a playful smirk tugging at his lips, “I’ve been thinking. I’d really like you to bend me over your desk and show me how the Tudors really got things done.”
The classroom fell silent.
Merlin’s words hung in the air, a mixture of shock and amusement from the other students, but it was the way Arthur froze, the way his breath hitched at the unexpected comment, that made Merlin’s pulse quicken. He could see Arthur’s jaw tightening, his fingers momentarily still on the chalk, as if trying to regain control of his composure.
Arthur’s gaze flickered to Merlin, his eyes darkening slightly, and Merlin could see the flicker of something—surprise, frustration, and maybe even something else—flash across his face. It was almost too much for Merlin to handle, the way Arthur was clearly trying to keep his cool, his breath a little sharper, his cheeks flushed with a slight pink tint that Merlin wasn’t sure was from anger or... desire.
“Merlin,” Arthur said, his voice a little rougher than usual, and Merlin’s name sounded almost like a warning. “We need to talk after class.”
Merlin grinned, heart pounding in his chest, knowing exactly what he had done. “Sure, Professor. I’ll be waiting.”
Arthur quickly shifted his focus back to the board, but the tension in the room was palpable. The rest of the class seemed to take the opportunity to exchange glances, whispers passing around as the lecture continued, though it was clear Arthur’s attention wasn’t fully on the material anymore.
The rest of the lecture passed in a blur for Merlin. His thoughts were racing, filled with the exhilaration of knowing he had completely rattled Arthur. He couldn’t help but steal glances at the professor, watching the way Arthur’s jaw worked as he continued to teach, his voice slightly more controlled than before, though there was still a hint of something unspoken in the air.
As the bell rang, signaling the end of class, the students started to pack up and leave, but Merlin stayed behind, knowing full well that Arthur’s “talk” was about to begin. He was already brimming with anticipation, wondering just how far Arthur would let him push.
When the last of the students filed out, Arthur walked over to his desk, his steps quick and purposeful, trying to maintain that air of authority that had made him so unshakable in the past. But there was something different now, something that made the air between them heavy, charged with everything they had been denying for so long.
“Merlin,” Arthur said again, his voice low, trying to maintain control, but the underlying tension was unmistakable. “You can’t just say things like that in my class.”
Merlin stood, his eyes meeting Arthur’s with a playful yet challenging gaze. “Why not?” he asked, his voice soft, almost teasing. “I thought we were past the formalities. Don’t tell me you don’t like it when I get under your skin.”
Arthur’s breath caught, his eyes flickering with something deeper now, something Merlin could feel all the way to his core. He took a step closer, his voice barely more than a whisper. “You’re making this difficult, Merlin.”
Merlin smiled, stepping a little closer himself, the distance between them closing with each heartbeat. “I’m just being honest, Arthur,” he said softly, his voice almost playful, though there was a thread of seriousness in it. “You’re the one who can’t stop thinking about me. You’re the one who wants me.”
Arthur’s jaw tightened, and he exhaled sharply, his hand running through his hair. He was trying to keep control, but Merlin could see it slipping. The pull between them was undeniable now.
“You need to leave,” Arthur said, his voice hoarse, though it was clear he didn’t want Merlin to go. “Before I lose control.”
Merlin didn’t move immediately, instead taking a small step closer. “I don’t want you to lose control, Arthur,” he said quietly, his voice soft and almost too sincere. “I want you to have control. I want to know what it feels like when you finally let go.”
Arthur’s eyes narrowed, his hands gripping the edge of the desk as if trying to steady himself. “Merlin,” he warned, but his voice was thick with something—something that made Merlin’s heart race faster, something that made his pulse quicken with desire.
Arthur’s breath was shallow, his chest rising and falling with the force of his emotions. The room felt suddenly small, the air between them thick with unspoken words and unresolved tension. Merlin’s words hung in the space between them, a daring challenge, and Arthur could feel the pull of them, irresistible, like gravity.
Arthur tried to regain his composure, but it was harder now, harder to fight the magnetic force drawing him in. Every part of him screamed to keep control, to hold back, but Merlin’s presence, the quiet challenge in his eyes, made it impossible to resist.
Merlin, sensing the shift in the air, stepped closer, moving within inches of Arthur. The intensity in the room was palpable, each heartbeat, each breath building toward something neither of them could stop. Their eyes locked, and for a moment, it was as if time stood still.
Then, without warning, Arthur closed the gap between them. His hand reached up, pulling Merlin gently toward him, and their lips collided in a kiss that was soft at first—tentative, testing—but quickly deepened with urgency. Merlin’s hands found Arthur’s shoulders, gripping them tightly as their kiss became more insistent, more desperate.
Arthur’s breath hitched as Merlin’s lips moved against his, the warmth of the kiss spreading through his entire body. He was lost in the feeling—the taste, the closeness, the electricity between them—and for the first time in what felt like forever, he allowed himself to let go, to let the weight of it pull him under.
As their kiss deepened, the world around them seemed to disappear. The only thing that mattered was the heat of the moment, the way their bodies seemed to fit together perfectly. Their lips parted briefly, only for Arthur to pull Merlin back into him, their breaths coming in quick, sharp gasps.
They stumbled backward, not breaking contact, until Merlin's back hit the desk with a soft thud. The sound echoed in the quiet room, a brief reminder of the reality they were still in. Arthur stood over Merlin, their faces inches apart, his smirk almost predatory as he looked down at him.
"Is this what you wanted?" Arthur's voice was low, a teasing edge in his words. He leaned in, his breath warm against Merlin’s ear, sending a shiver down his spine. "For me to bend you over, teach you a lesson?"
Merlin’s heart pounded, his chest rising and falling with the intensity of the moment. He gasped, his voice breathy and almost daring, "Yes... professor."
Arthur’s smirk deepened, his eyes gleaming with something dangerously close to hunger. But instead of pushing forward, he lingered, savoring the tension in the air, the uncertainty, the unspoken promise of what might come next.
For a moment, the room seemed to hold its breath, and it was clear that whatever path they were about to take, neither of them would ever be the same afterward.
Arthur’s breath was shallow, his mind racing with the possibilities of what could happen next. The air was thick with the unspoken, with the tension that neither of them could ignore anymore. He stood there, looming over Merlin, feeling the weight of every moment they’d shared leading to this. The kiss, the words, the way everything had shifted so quickly—it was all overwhelming and thrilling in equal measure.
Merlin’s gaze didn’t waver, his pulse quickening as he looked up at Arthur. There was something in those eyes, something more than the playful challenge that had always been there between them. A vulnerability, a surrender, and a fire that matched Arthur’s own.
Arthur leaned down again, but this time, instead of kissing him, he let his breath ghost across Merlin’s skin, soft and teasing. "You want me to teach you a lesson?" he murmured, his voice dark and laced with desire.
Merlin’s hands clenched on the edge of the desk, his entire body taut, and though the words he wanted to speak felt stuck in his throat, the intensity in his eyes said it all. He wanted this. He needed this.
Arthur took a step back, just enough to see Merlin clearly, his gaze filled with determination. Slowly, he reached down, fingers brushing lightly against Merlin’s cheek, as though savoring the feel of him, the weight of the moment. "Then you’ll follow my lead," he said, the command in his voice unmistakable.
Merlin’s breath hitched, but he nodded. "I will." The words were a promise, a surrender, and perhaps a dare all at once.
Arthur's smirk returned, but it was softer this time—almost knowing. He wasn’t in control of the situation in the way he’d originally thought, but in this moment, they were both tangled in the push and pull of each other’s desires. Neither could walk away from it, not now. Not when the stakes were this high.
Without another word, Arthur leaned in again, his lips brushing against Merlin’s in a way that was deliberate, soft, and filled with everything they both had yet to say. The room was heavy with silence, save for the sound of their breaths and the beat of their hearts.
Arthur felt the weight of his restraint finally snap. The need for control had been slipping away with each passing second, with each brush of their lips, each soft sound that escaped Merlin. The room around them, once a place of quiet tension, now felt like a furnace, the air too hot to breathe. He couldn’t hold back anymore—consequences be damned.
Without thinking, he pulled Merlin closer, crashing their lips together in a kiss that was no longer gentle or teasing. It was desperate, raw, as if they both feared if they didn’t act now, they might lose their chance forever. Arthur’s hands tangled in Merlin’s hair, pulling him closer, as if trying to merge their very beings.
Merlin’s hands, equally as desperate, found their way to the buttons of Arthur’s shirt. His fingers were trembling, but his determination was unwavering. He needed to feel more, to touch more. As his hands worked to undo the buttons, he gasped against Arthur’s lips, feeling the heat of his skin through the fabric. "Arthur," he whispered between kisses, his voice raw, hungry.
Arthur’s breath was unsteady as he pulled back just enough to look at Merlin, his eyes dark with intensity. "Merlin..." The name felt like a prayer, a confession, all rolled into one. His hands, desperate now, found their way to Merlin’s shirt as well, pulling at the fabric with impatience, wanting to feel more of him, to touch him everywhere.
Merlin’s lips were on him again in an instant, the kiss fierce and unrelenting as his hands worked to free Arthur from the confines of his shirt. The soft thud of each button falling away echoed in the tense space between them, and with each one, their connection grew stronger, more tangible.
Arthur’s mind swirled, but there was no room for doubt, no room for fear. All that mattered was the heat between them, the way their bodies pressed together, the frantic urgency of their movements. His hands slid down to Merlin’s chest, feeling the rapid rise and fall of his breath as their kiss deepened again.
Merlin’s body arched beneath him, pulling Arthur closer, urging him on. Every touch, every kiss, every movement seemed to heighten the electricity that pulsed between them, and nothing else in the world existed except for the two of them in this moment, lost to the need they could no longer ignore.
Arthur’s mind was a whirlwind, but one thought remained clear: there would be no turning back. Not now. Not when they had come this far.
Arthur’s shirt slid off his shoulders, the fabric finally giving way as his need for closeness, for more, became too overwhelming to ignore. He barely registered the soft sound of the material hitting the floor, too consumed by the feeling of Merlin's body pressed against his. His hands were restless, hungry for more contact, his fingers tracing the lines of Merlin’s chest as their kiss deepened further.
But then, a sharp breath pulled Arthur out of the haze for a moment. His eyes flickered down to Merlin, dark with desire, and before Merlin could react, Arthur broke the kiss, pulling back just enough to look at him. The tension between them was nearly unbearable, and Arthur wasted no time. His hands moved with urgency, grabbing at the fabric of Merlin’s shirt, pulling it up, tugging it off his body in one swift motion.
Merlin gasped, not from discomfort but from the sheer intensity of it all. His eyes met Arthur’s, burning with the same need, the same fire. Arthur took a moment to drink in the sight of him, the way the light played off his skin, his breath coming in uneven bursts. Merlin’s hands reached for him again, but Arthur stopped him with a soft touch to his chest, urging him to pause for just a second longer.
“Don’t hide from me,” Arthur whispered, his voice ragged with want. "I need to see all of you."
Merlin didn’t answer with words. Instead, he responded with his hands, pulling Arthur back to him, urging their lips to meet once more, but this time, there was no hesitation. No slowing down. Just the raw, desperate need for the other, their bodies pressed against each other as if trying to fuse.
Arthur’s mind was completely lost in the feeling of Merlin’s warmth, his skin against his own, and the weight of everything they’d built between them in such a short time. The kiss became a battle of sorts—passionate, insistent, a claim of something neither was willing to deny any longer.
In that moment, they were everything to each other—no barriers, no hesitation. Just two people lost in the overwhelming need to finally, fully give in.
Merlin's hands trembled as they reached for Arthur’s belt, the weight of the moment heavy between them. It was a simple action, but it felt like the culmination of everything they had held back for so long. They’d never gotten this far before, never pushed past the boundaries they had set for themselves. But now, with the heat of the kiss still burning between them, those lines felt like nothing more than a distant memory.
Arthur’s breath hitched as Merlin’s fingers brushed over the leather, the briefest of touches sending a rush of anticipation through him. Their kiss had slowed for only a heartbeat, but in that brief pause, the tension in the room felt almost unbearable. Arthur could feel Merlin’s pulse racing beneath his fingertips, just as his own heart thudded in his chest, erratic and fast.
“Merlin,” Arthur whispered, pulling back slightly, his forehead resting against Merlin’s. His voice was thick with desire, but there was a note of hesitation there too. He wasn’t sure if he was ready to cross that line yet, even if every fiber of his being screamed for him to give in.
Merlin’s hands, still lingering near Arthur’s belt, paused. The touch was delicate, as if waiting for permission, a silent question hanging between them.
Arthur’s eyes met Merlin’s, both of them lost in the depth of their shared gaze. No words were needed—neither of them wanted to rush this, not when the connection they shared was so fragile, so precious. Instead, Arthur’s hand cupped Merlin’s face gently, brushing a strand of hair away from his forehead, his thumb tracing over the skin of his jaw.
Arthur's heart raced as he carefully deliberated the moment, intent on ensuring that every movement was imbued with the vulnerability and trust that had brought them here. With a shaky breath, he took the leap, his hands finding the buckle of his belt. It felt monumental as he deftly undid it, the sound echoing like a starting gun in the stillness of the room.
As he removed the leather belt, he felt a thrill course through him, the weight of their desires hanging heavy in the air. Arthur pulled down his trousers, exposing himself in a way that felt both exhilarating and terrifying. He had always been the one in control, the teacher, the authoritative figure, yet here he was, baring himself—both physically and emotionally—in front of his student.
Merlin's eyes widened, taking in the sight before him. A flush crept over his cheeks, and he felt a rush of warmth flood through his body, pooling low in his abdomen. The vulnerability of the moment held them captive, and for a heartbeat, all he could do was simply stare at Arthur, the man who had been his mentor, confidant, and now, in this moment, something more. The mixture of awe and desire made his breath hitch.
“Arthur…” Merlin murmured, almost breathlessly, the sound thick with emotion as he took a tentative step forward, closing the distance that had felt impossibly vast only moments before. In that fleeting instant, the world outside fell away, leaving just the two of them—one the teacher, and the other the student, yet both yearning for something that couldn’t be easily defined.
Unable to contain himself any longer, Merlin surged forward, capturing Arthur’s lips in a fervent kiss. This kiss was different from the tentative ones they had shared before; it was infused with urgency and longing, an unspoken declaration of everything they had kept hidden for so long. Merlin's hands moved instinctively to cradle Arthur’s face, feeling the heat radiating from his skin as they melded together, their bodies aware of each other in a way they had never allowed before.
Arthur returned the kiss with an intensity that made everything feel right—everything they had fought against was dissolving in the heat of their passion. His hands found their way to Merlin’s waist, pulling him closer, feeling the warmth press against him, igniting a fire within that had been simmering just beneath the surface.
“Merlin, are you sure?” Arthur breathed against his lips, the words barely escaping his throat as he broke the kiss for just a moment, searching Merlin's eyes for any sign of regret or hesitation. His heart pounded in his chest, caught between the thrill of the moment and the reality of their situation.
But Merlin met his gaze with unwavering resolve, the determination in his eyes softening the edges of Arthur's uncertainty. “I want this,” he insisted, his voice a mixture of confidence and fervor. “I want you.”
With that affirmation, Arthur found a new wave of courage swell within him. He leaned in, capturing Merlin's lips once more.
The kiss deepened once more, a whirlwind of emotions swirling between them, and as they finally broke apart, Arthur felt a surge of primal need surge through him. The intensity of the moment was undeniable, and he wanted to take things further—to claim this connection in a way that was both assertive and thrilling.
With a rush of adrenaline, Arthur turned and strode toward his desk chair, the distance only heightening the anticipation that crackled in the air. He sank into the chair, spreading his legs in an invitation that sent a shiver of excitement through both of them. The action felt daring and liberating, a declaration that he was relinquishing some control while simultaneously asserting his desire.
“Merlin,” Arthur said, his voice low and charged, the weight of the command hanging between them like a taut wire. “Come here. Get on your knees.”
Merlin's breath caught at the demand, and for a moment he stood frozen, both exhilarated and overwhelmed by the urgency in Arthur’s tone. The command awakened something deep within him—a thrill that coursed through his veins and ignited a fire in his belly. This was Arthur, his mentor, the man he had admired and wanted for so long, beckoning him closer in this electrifying way.
The air grew thick with desire as Merlin moved forward, a seductive grace to his movements. He knelt before Arthur, his heart pounding in anticipation, his pulse quickening with each passing second. As he looked up at Arthur, the sight of him sitting there—commanding, alluring, and unmistakably masculine—made Merlin's breath hitch again.
“Look at me,” Arthur instructed, his voice firm yet laced with a tenderness that sent warmth flooding through Merlin’s chest. The command was more than just an order; it marked the beginning of something exhilarating and new, a shared exploration of passion and vulnerability.
Merlin met his gaze, a mix of desire and admiration evident in his expression. With every heartbeat, the distance between them faded, and the world outside ceased to exist. All that mattered was this moment, this heat that was building.
“Are you ready?” Arthur asked, his voice steady, laced with a hint of urgency. As Merlin nodded slightly, he felt a rush of anticipation flicker in the air, electrifying the space between them.
With a boldness he hadn't known he possessed, Merlin leaned forward, taking in the sight of Arthur’s exposed vulnerability. It felt surreal, and yet so right. The moment was electric as he pressed forward, leaning in toward Arthur, his hands sliding along the powerful thighs that were spread invitingly before him.
Arthur exhaled sharply, a mix of excitement and pleasure coursing through him as Merlin’s hands explored. The trust and connection between them deepened with every movement. He wanted this—wanted to share every part of himself with Merlin, to feel their desires collide in this raw and passionate moment.
“Just like that,” Arthur encouraged, his voice thick with longing as he settled back comfortably in the chair, allowing Merlin to take control in this newly defined dynamic. He watched as Merlin’s gaze burned with intensity, his lips slightly parted as he took in the sight before him, the air charged with unspoken promises.
Merlin leaned in closer, the proximity igniting a flame of lust within Arthur. He took his time, savoring the moment, teasingly trailing his fingers along Arthur’s thighs, drawing nearer with each breath. Arthur's body responded instinctively, heat pooling low in his abdomen as he felt the anticipation building within him.
“Let me show you how much I want you, sir,” Merlin breathed, his voice a sultry whisper that sent shivers racing down Arthur’s spine. He knew Merlin added that last word to tease him, but still he relished every moment as Merlin's hands began to work their way up, exploring flesh, igniting fires wherever he touched.
Merlin's breath was warm against Arthur's skin as he drew closer, his heart pounding with a mix of excitement and desire. The anticipation hung heavy in the air, a palpable energy that seemed to hum between them. He watched Arthur’s expression shift from commanding to one filled with longing, and it only fueled the fire within him.
With a mix of eagerness and reverence, Merlin slowly opened his mouth, leaning in closer to Arthur’s cock. He felt the weight of the moment, fully aware of the trust that was exchanged in that single breath. His heart raced as he finally closed the distance, his tongue flicking out to taste the skin that had been lying before him.
Arthur gasped as he felt that first tentative caress, a shiver of pleasure coursing through him. It was as if every nerve ending responded to Merlin’s touch, igniting a wildfire of sensation that traveled through his body. He didn’t want to rush this; he wanted to savor every moment, every exploration that Merlin was daring to undertake.
“Merlin…” Arthur breathed, his voice thick with urgency. The sound of his name fell from his lips like a prayer, a whisper that spoke volumes about the trust they had built and the heights of pleasure they could reach together. His hands found their way into Merlin’s hair, fingers tugging in the soft strands as he encouraged, yet also gave space for, the fervor that was unfolding.
Merlin's resolve grew stronger, a heady mix of desire and determination filling him. He savored Arthur's taste, relishing in the sound of his gasps as he took more of him into the warmth of his mouth. He felt a thrill radiate from the depths of his being, intertwining with the passion that bubbled between them.
He moved with a growing confidence, swirling his tongue around as he pulled back just enough to watch Arthur’s reactions—each flicker of pleasure lighting a fire in his stomach. The intimacy of the moment was intoxicating, the connection they shared sparking something primal and deeply gratifying.
Arthur’s breath turned ragged, the sensations mixing and building in a beautiful crescendo. “Merlin, more, be good for me…” he commanded, the plea laced with an urgency that spoke of the growing need inside him. He could feel his control slipping, every movement drawing him closer to the edge, and yet, he craved more of this—more of Merlin.
“Yes sir,” Merlin murmured, that glint of determination sparking in his eyes again as he leaned in closer, taking Arthur in deeper still, his movements becoming more fervent. He relished the uncharted territory they were traversing together, alive with a new sense of freedom.
Arthur’s body responded eagerly to Merlin’s ministrations, the pleasure overwhelming yet beautiful in its intensity. He found himself lost in the moment, the world around them fading into the backdrop as he surrendered fully to the stirring sensations coursing through him. The connection became an anchor, grounding him as he surrendered to the waves of pleasure that rolled over him.
“God, yes,” Arthur gasped, his voice breaking with need as he gave into the enticing rhythm Merlin was creating. The intimacy of their dynamic pushed all the boundaries they had known, transforming them into something bold and electrifying.
Driven by an insatiable hunger for one another, Arthur roughly tugged at Merlin's hair, guiding him as he pressed forward, wanting to be closer still, craving the ecstatic release that lay just ahead.
Feeling the surge of desire, Arthur's body moved with a will of its own, a primal instinct that radiated through him as he guided Merlin with gentle yet firm tugs on his hair. The heat of the moment enveloped them like a thick fog, each breath they took drawing them closer together, until the boundaries of their former selves began to blur away entirely.
With a grunt, Arthur thrust forward, a slow yet deliberate motion that took him deeper into the warmth of Merlin’s mouth. The sensation sent shockwaves coursing through him, igniting every nerve ending as he lost himself in the ecstasy that swelled within him. The heady thrill of having Merlin so devoted, so eager to please, only fueled his need.
“Merlin,” he gasped again, the urgency in his voice palpable as he began to establish a rhythm, thrusting gently yet purposefully, his movements a dance of assertion wrapped in the softness of their shared intimacy. He felt powerful yet utterly vulnerable, teetering on a tightrope where pleasure and emotion intertwined, urging them both to explore uncharted lands of sensation.
Merlin responded instinctively, pulling back just slightly, then meeting Arthur’s thrusts with a fervent enthusiasm that sent spirals of ecstasy coursing through them both. He reveled in the commanding energy radiating from Arthur, feeling it fuel the fire between them. Each time Arthur pressed forward, the world around them faded further, leaving only the exquisite connection they shared.
“God, you feel incredible,” Arthur panted, the words slipping from his lips as he focused on the sensation blooming within him. He could see the fierce determination in Merlin’s gaze—an affirmation that he was there with him, a willing partner in this exploration of their desires.
The rhythm intensified, each thrust becoming more deliberate, more aggressive—an unspoken dialogue was blooming between them; a melding of sensitivity and urgency. Arthur maintained control, setting the pace that allowed him to savor every moment, every gasp that escaped Merlin's lips—each sound adding fuel to his fire.
“Look at me,” Arthur commanded breathlessly, drawing Merlin's gaze back up to meet his. He wanted to see the acceptance and want reflected in those deep, expressive eyes etched with a depth of emotion that made Arthur’s heart race even more. The sight of Merlin, eyes bright with focus and need, pushed Arthur further into the intensity of the moment.
Merlin met Arthur's gaze, a spark igniting between them, a silent agreement that bound their souls together, anchoring them in this whirlwind of sensation and emotion. The thrusts continued, growing more frantic, yet still purposeful; an electric tension building that threatened to shatter them both.
“Arthur,” Merlin gasped around him, the sound rich and throaty, a mix of pain and pleasure that sent another wave crashing over them. The more Arthur moved, the more he felt Merlin giving himself to the rhythm, surrendering entirely to the waves of pleasure they were creating together.
"That's it, just like that," Arthur encouraged, his voice low and guttural, a gravelly edge creeping in as he felt the intoxicating pull of ecstasy nearing. He leaned back, bracing his arms against the chair, taking in the sight of Merlin—determined and wanting, the way his lips glistened, the flush that spread across his cheeks.
With every thrust, Arthur felt himself teetering closer to the precipice, the tension rising within him to a fever pitch, ready to ignite and consume them both. He didn’t want it to end; he wanted to stretch this moment into eternity, yet the pull of release was undeniable.
“Merlin, I—” he started, the words faltering on the edge of his breath as he felt an overwhelming rush approaching. It felt more than just physical; it was an explosion of everything they had built together, an acknowledgment of their every shared moment, the flirting in class, every secret, forbidden kiss, culminating in this incredibly intimate release.
With one last thrust, Arthur shattered the boundary between them, sensation surging through him like a tidal wave. “I’m… I’m going to—” he gasped, and before he could finish, he felt the peak of pleasure unfurling, cascading over him in a rush of ecstasy, his body responding to the overwhelming need as he surrendered completely, riding the waves of their shared intensity.
“Arthur!” Merlin cried, the sound reverberating deep within him, pulling Arthur back into the warmth of their connection. The rush of release took him higher, leaving him breathless, and in that moment, they were united, both losing themselves in the depths of their shared culmination, their breaths mingling in the charged silence that followed, the world outside forgotten.
As the warmth of their shared intimacy began to settle, Arthur slowly pulled back, his heart still racing from the overwhelming release they had just experienced. He looked down at Merlin, who remained on his knees before him, breathless and flushed with desire. The sight was mesmerizing—Merlin's cheeks were a deep shade of scarlet, and Arthur couldn’t help but admire how his student looked in this moment, utterly devoted and gloriously vulnerable.
The remnants of their connection glistened on Merlin’s skin, the subtle sheen of sweat and the evidence of their shared pleasure creating a tapestry of intimacy that left Arthur breathless. The way the thick, warm liquid dribbled down Merlin’s chin—a testament to their carnal exploration—struck him with a surreal sense of pride and belonging. He felt engrossed by the view before him, a rush of possessive affection mixed with the thrill of having brought them both to this transcendent moment.
“God, you're beautiful,” Arthur breathed, surprise lacing his voice. The rawness of the sight stirred something deeply primal within him, and he let his gaze linger, taking in the culmination of their shared desires.
Merlin’s eyes sparkled with mischief as he tilted his head slightly, a playful smile teasing at the corners of his lips despite their intense exchange. “Well, are you going to help me now, sir?” he queried, his voice dripping with a mixture of sarcasm and want, the challenge evident in his tone. It was a cheeky question, but the way he said it, laden with eagerness and a hint of vulnerability, made Arthur’s heart flutter.
“Oh, I see how it is,” Arthur replied, a smirk forming on his lips in response to Merlin's playful challenge. He relished the lighthearted air despite their earlier intensity, appreciating that they could slip back into this rhythm of banter amid the remnants of their passion.
Arthur moved forward, reaching out to cup Merlin’s chin gently, tilting it up so their eyes locked once again. There was something both tender and commanding in their shared gaze, a silent acknowledgment of the trust they held between them. “You’ve certainly earned some attention,” he said, his voice low and teasing, yet filled with warmth.
With a decisive motion, he leaned forward, using his thumb to catch the droplets that clung to Merlin’s chin, wiping them away with deliberate care. As their eyes remained locked, Arthur felt an electric charge pass between them, the intimacy of the action deepening their already profound connection.
“All right, let’s see how I can help, shall we?” Arthur continued, feigning deliberation. “You did work exceptionally hard.” He could not hide the glimmer of mischief in his own eyes as he relished the moment. There was a heady mix of dominance and affection seeping into the air, a palpable layer of tension that was just as thick as before.
Merlin watched him with an expression that mixed eagerness and laughter, momentarily enchanted by Arthur’s resolve. “I’d say I deserve something for my efforts,” he replied, his voice playful but rich with undertones of yearning. The hunger in his gaze only fueled Arthur’s desire to draw them both deeper into this tantalizing game.
“Then allow me to oblige,” Arthur said, channeling a newfound confidence as he shifted his position slightly, welcoming Merlin closer. The thrill of the moment—this shared intimacy—urged him on.
With purposeful grace, he leaned down, meeting Merlin’s lips once again, this time with a playful urgency that felt refreshing and invigorating. Their mouths moved together, a perfect counterpoint of passion and teasing, as Arthur guided Merlin back to the space they had forged, rekindling the spark of desire that was still very much alive.
With their lips still tantalizingly close, Arthur felt a surge of primal energy ripple through him. The lightheartedness of their banter ignited something deeper, a wild intensity that called for release. Unable to resist the allure of his desire, he suddenly gripped Merlin’s shoulders, turning him roughly around to face the table.
“Arthur—” Merlin began, his surprise barely escaping his lips as he found himself bent over the wooden surface, the coolness of the table contrasting sharply with the heat radiating from his flushed skin.
“Stay still,” Arthur commanded, his voice low and gravelly as he tugged down Merlin’s trousers, exposing him further. He could feel the rush of adrenaline coursing through his veins, the thrill of the moment striking a primal chord within him.
Without hesitation, he delivered a firm smack to Merlin’s exposed backside, the sound echoing in the charged atmosphere of the room. Merlin gasped, a mixture of surprise and delight lacing his tone, and Arthur revelled in the power of the moment. “That’s for being a naughty boy in class,” he said, a teasing smirk playing on his lips.
Merlin's breath hitched, his body reacting instinctively to both the sting and the thrill of submission. There was a wild excitement in being caught up in this unexpected turn of the night, and he found himself leaning into the intensity, eager for more.
Arthur could see the way Merlin reacted, the way his body quivered in response to both the slap and the words, igniting a fresh wave of exhilaration within him. “You’re going to have to learn your lesson properly,” Arthur warned playfully, his voice full of mischief. He stepped closer, letting the heat from his body meld with the urgency of the moment.
“Do you understand?” Arthur continued, leaning over Merlin, allowing his breath to ghost over the skin of Merlin’s back, teasingly close yet just out of reach. He could feel the tension crackling in the air as he waited for Merlin to respond, the anticipation amplifying the thrill coursing through them both.
“Yes, sir,” Merlin replied breathlessly, a hint of defiance still present in his voice, which only fueled Arthur’s desire.
With a playful grin, Arthur delivered another slap, one that was both firm and playful, enjoying the way Merlin responded to each movement. The balance of power shifted still, a fascinating dance between control and surrender. Each sound that escaped Merlin’s lips shaped the air around them, weaving a tapestry of passion that pulled them deeper into the moment.
“Good,” Arthur said, his voice thick with lust and satisfaction. “Let’s see if you can handle a bit more.” He watched as Merlin braced himself against the table, the tension in his muscles giving way to vulnerability and trust. It was a beautiful transition, pushing them both further into the depths of their desires.
“What do you think?” Arthur asked, voice dripping with seduction as he paused, letting the weight of the moment settle. “Can you take it?”
Arthur felt a hunger rippling within him, fueled by the charged atmosphere and the intoxicating vulnerability of having Merlin bent over his desk. The thrill of their shared moment was electric, urging him on as he opened a drawer in his desk and reached for the small bottle of lube nestled among papers and books.
"How long has that been in there, sir?" Merlin asked, his tone teasing yet layered with genuine curiosity. He was still bent over the desk, the anticipation hanging thick in the air, and Arthur could hear the playful challenge in his voice.
“I got it the day you walked into my class,” Arthur replied, a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth as he squeezed a generous amount into his palm, slicking it over his fingers. The memory of that moment flooded back to him—the first time he had laid eyes on Merlin, the desire that had sparked to life even then. Now, here they were, taking that attraction to an exhilarating new level.
With careful deliberation, he turned his focus back to Merlin, his heart pounding as he pressed one slicked finger against the curve of Merlin’s entrance. He reveled in the trust that shimmered between them, feeling it pulse in the air, thick and undeniable. "Ready?" he asked, his voice low and steady.
Merlin nodded, a soft exhale escaping his lips as he felt the pressure of Arthur’s finger against him. “Yes, sir. Fuck me."
Arthur applied just enough pressure, slowly easing his finger inside. The sensations collided, warmth and tightness enveloping him, igniting that primal instinct he had felt earlier. He watched as Merlin's body reacted, saw the way he inhaled sharply, then leaned into it, letting the intensity wash over him.
“How does that feel?” Arthur asked, voice gravelly, needing to know how Merlin was processing the sensations. He began to move his finger in rhythmic thrusts, each motion bringing them closer together in that delicate balance of exploration.
“It feels… incredible,” Merlin admitted, his voice thick with the amalgamation of pleasure and anticipation. “More, please.”
Encouraged by his response, Arthur added a second finger, pressing deeper yet, curling up slightly to find the sweet spot that would send ripples of delight coursing through Merlin. “You’re doing so well,” he murmured, admiring the way Merlin surrendered to the sensations, each thrust creating more exquisite tension between them.
Arthur's movements quickened, his fingers working together in a seamless dance, the sensations pushing them both toward the brink. He watched Merlin closely, taking in every expression that flickered over his face—the way his brows knitted together in concentration, his lips parting with each breath that passed through them, the flush that deepened even further.
“Give in to it,” Arthur encouraged, his voice a husky whisper against the backdrop of their heated connection. He relished the way Merlin responded, leaning back against him, encouraging Arthur to delve deeper into this uncharted territory of sensation.
“So close,” Merlin breathed, his voice sounding breathless as Arthur continued his exploration, the combination of soft gasps and the slick sounds of their bodies melding together pushing Arthur’s arousal to dizzying heights.
“Let go,” Arthur urged, the heat of the moment pulling him in closer, their desires entwined in a beautiful synchronization.
With a swift movement, Arthur added a third finger, watching intently as Merlin adjusted to the stretch, his body accommodating the new sensation. The last piece of the puzzle fell into place, and the connection between them deepened further.
“There we go,” Arthur murmured, finding that perfect rhythm. He felt compelled to bring both pleasure and release, to guide them into the uncharted depths of ecstasy. Each thrust of his fingers pushed them further into that state of bliss, the air thick with longing and trust.
“Arthur, I—” Merlin began, but the sentence quickly unraveled into a desperate moan, his body responding eagerly to the pleasure.
“C’mon, let me see you,” Arthur coaxed, his voice thick with desire. “I want to hear you fall apart for me.”
With his heart racing and energy coursing through him, Arthur felt utterly consumed by the desire to fully share this experience with Merlin, to meld their souls in a way they had not yet uncovered. And as Merlin gave himself to the moment, eyes glazing over with pleasure, Arthur knew that they were both embarking on a journey that would redefine everything they had ever known about each other.
As the waves of pleasure coursed through Merlin, Arthur felt the overwhelming energy between them intensify, each pulse resonating within the sanctity of the moment they had created. The heat swirled around them, a cocoon that isolated them from everything outside, and the only reality that mattered was the one they were constructing here and now.
Merlin leaned back against him, encouraging Arthur's fingers to press deeper, and with each rhythmic thrust, he surrendered more completely to the sensations, his body instinctively moving in time to Arthur's movements. “I’m ready,” he breathed heavily, the urgency lacing his words palpable.
“Are you sure?” Arthur asked, his voice husky with desire, wanting to ensure that Merlin felt completely prepared for the next step. The trust in Merlin's eyes, the fire of longing, shattered any lingering doubts in Arthur's mind.
“Yes,” Merlin replied firmly, the determination in his voice sending a shiver of anticipation down Arthur's spine.
With a swift motion, Arthur withdrew his fingers, the loss causing a small whimper to escape from Merlin’s lips—a sound that was a cocktail of desire and longing for what was to come. Arthur took a moment to admire the sight before him, his heart racing with each beat as he marveled at the vision of Merlin bent over the desk, waiting, vulnerable yet filled with an eager anticipation that made Arthur’s chest swell with a possessive pride.
He could see the way Merlin's breath quickened, the subtle arch of his back inviting Arthur closer, his body a testament to the trust they had built and the shared passion that pulsed in the air between them. Arthur lined himself up behind Merlin, the anticipation taut between them like a drawn bowstring, feeling the warmth radiate from him like a beacon, drawing him closer. Taking a steadying breath, Arthur focused, knowing this moment would define everything they shared from this point forward.
“Just breathe,” Arthur instructed, his voice a low caress that vibrated with both tenderness and authority as he slowly pressed forward, the tip of himself finding the sweet, prepared entrance. The sensation was electric, an intoxicating jolt, and Arthur’s breath hitched at the overwhelming pleasure that coursed through him upon breaking through that initial barrier.
With deliberate slowness, he began to ease in, feeling that exquisite stretch as he pushed further. The way Merlin's body enveloped him sent shockwaves of pleasure through every inch of Arthur, drowning him in a wave of sensation that threatened to sweep him away entirely. He couldn’t help but let out a deep, guttural moan, each sound echoing the pleasure crashing inside him.
“Are you okay?” he asked, his voice barely above a whisper, seeking reassurance in the connection that was forging anew between them. He needed this—needed to know that they were in this together, every step of the way.
“More than okay,” Merlin panted, every word drenched in heady desire, the slight tremor in his voice spurring Arthur on. “Just—keep going.”
That primal instinct surged within Arthur once more, an overwhelming urge to take Merlin fully while grappling with the desire to savor every enticing moment. He thrust deeper, feeling the perfect fit of their bodies as he connected with Merlin in a way that felt achingly harmonious, establishing a rhythm that surged toward ecstasy.
“Keep your eyes on me,” Arthur urged as he began to find his pace, pulling back then thrusting forward with determination. He watched Merlin’s face closely, intoxicated by the way his features twisted in pleasure, the small, desperate gasps slipping from his lips as each thrust drew them both closer to the edge.
“Arthur, yes—just like that!” Merlin cried out, the sound igniting a fire within Arthur that blazed brighter with every passing second. The rawness of their connection sent spirals of adrenaline coursing through his veins, lifting him into a state of pure bliss.
Their movements intertwined in a powerful rhythm, a symphony of gasps and moans resonating like a melody through the intimacy of the moment. With every powerful thrust, Arthur felt himself teetering on the brink of something unparalleled, an exquisite blend of pleasure and profound emotional connection fueling his every instinct.
“Let go, Merlin,” Arthur encouraged, guiding his partner toward the precipice of release. The sight of Merlin, lost in a haze of ecstasy, spurred him on, cultivating an urgency that pulled every ounce of energy and fervor from deep within.
The two of them were caught in a hurricane of sensation, the boundaries between them dissolving as they climbed higher toward that peak. Arthur felt strength wash over him, binding him to the moment with a fierce and overwhelming determination. “I’m almost there,” he breathed, the weight of their shared journey pressing against him, tangible and real.
“Me too! Fuck, sir. Just... don’t stop!” Merlin's voice rushed out in a desperate plea, the urgency accompanied by a wild surrender that twisted in the air around them, a testament to their unbreakable bond.
Arthur gripped the edge of the desk tight, his knuckles white with the intensity of their union, feeling every ounce of their connection stretch and tighten around them. With one final powerful thrust, he surged forward, surrendering entirely to the moment. The world around them faded into delicious oblivion as they reached the culmination of their passion together, a blissful explosion of sensation that washed over them in waves.
The very air seemed to shimmer with the remnants of their connection, and time lost all meaning in those breathtaking moments, as they broke free of their physical constraints, their souls intertwining in a dance of intimacy that felt both electric and utterly consuming.
As the last waves of pleasure began to ebb, Arthur slowly withdrew, the sensation of leaving Merlin’s warmth sending a shiver down his spine. He took a moment to collect himself, his breath still ragged as he processed the intensity of what they had just shared. They remained close, leaning into one another as if reluctant to lose the tether that had bound them together so completely.
“Merlin,” Arthur murmured, brushing a stray strand of hair from Merlin’s damp forehead, his heart swelling with a mix of affection and disbelief. “I can’t believe how intense that was.”
Merlin looked up at him with a soft smile, the corners of his mouth lifting in a way that made Arthur’s heart race all over again. “Neither can I,” he replied, his voice warm and laced with vulnerability, still breathless from their encounter. “It was… incredible.”
They shared a lingering gaze, the weight of their experiences hanging in the air around them, a powerful reminder of both the boundaries they had crossed and the deepening bond that had formed between them. Arthur allowed himself a small chuckle, still feeling the rush of adrenaline coursing through him. “I guess I’ll need to make a habit of assigning extra credit for, uh, participation,” he teased lightly, winking.
Merlin’s laughter was like music, rich and genuine, filling the space between them. “Well, if that’s how you grade, I think I’ll ace this semester,” he replied, a playful glint in his eyes.
With some heaviness, they both began to reach for their discarded clothing, the reality of their situation coming back into focus. Arthur straightened himself up, slipping on his shirt, his heart racing at the touch of the fabric against his skin—a stark contrast to the raw intimacy of just moments before. He glanced over at Merlin, who was pulling his clothes back on, the subtle blush still lingering on his cheeks.
“Are we… are we okay?” Arthur asked, glancing up to meet Merlin’s gaze as he fastened the buttons on his shirt. There was a thread of uncertainty woven into his tone, a lingering concern that he needed to address before they stepped back into the world beyond the intimacy they had shared.
Merlin paused, his expression contemplative for a moment before a gentle smile broke through. “We’re more than okay, Arthur. This… whatever this is, it feels right. And if I’m honest, I’ve wanted this for a long time,” he said, his voice steady and sincere. The warmth in his eyes made Arthur’s heart swell with relief and joy.
“Really?” Arthur asked, coming closer once more, needing the reassurance of their connection. “You mean that?”
“Absolutely,” Merlin confirmed, his eyes sparkling with a mix of affection and mischief. “Now, let’s see how well you wear that shirt, sir.”
Arthur scoffed playfully, adjusting the collar as he shot a mischievous look back at Merlin. “What? You don’t think I look dashing?”
“Dashing is an understatement,” Merlin countered, the laughter breaking the remnants of tension that still hung between them. “You look positively regal.”
“Regal, huh? I shall wear that title with pride,” Arthur declared with a grin. They shared another warm laugh that melted away any remnants of uncertainty.
As they finished dressing and the moment of intimacy began to settle into something more grounded and substantial, Arthur felt an exhilarating anticipation for what lay ahead. They would have to navigate their new connection amid their daily lives, but he was more than ready.
Finally, with a last lingering glance in the dim light of the room, Merlin adjusted his collar and gave him a cheeky wink. “See you in class, Professor,” he said, his tone playful, the spark in his eyes revealing the tender mischief that had always characterized their relationship.
Arthur chuckled softly, unable to suppress the smile that broke over his face, feeling a heady mix of affection and desire still buzzing in his veins. “Indeed, Merlin. I’ll be counting on your participation,” he replied, matching the playful tone as both of them stepped back onto the path they would walk together.
With the air thick with promise and anticipation, they exited the room, hearts alight with uncharted possibilities, a future tinted with excitement waiting just beyond the door, ready to unfold in ways neither could fully comprehend yet.
