Work Text:

Working as a security guard in an upper class neighborhood has its perks.

For one, it’s easy. All Rey has to do is sit in a booth and let residents in and out of the gated community whenever they want. The job also has great benefits; they give her two weeks of heat leave per year, plus an extra two weeks if she finds a mate.

Another perk is the gossip. Because Rey works the night shift, she sees a lot of things that she probably shouldn’t see: couples fighting, mistresses sneaking away in the dead of night, and teens trying to run away from their unsuspecting parents. It provides her with much-needed entertainment during the long nights.

But the real reason Rey loves working in a wealthy neighborhood is because the residents are so goddamn easy to steal from.

And that’s exactly what she does—steals from them.

She’s subtle about it, of course. She only takes small things that they won’t notice, like a broken Rolex at the bottom of a sock drawer, or an old iPad collecting dust in the closet. Though seemingly small, after a year of fixing and reselling pilfered items, Rey has completely paid off her credit card debt, and is very close to paying off her car loan. Maybe, if she keeps going, she’ll have enough money to attend college one day.

At least, that’s what she tells herself.

On Friday, Christmas Eve, Rey shows up to the guard booth a couple minutes after ten p.m. for the start of her shift. Though she doesn’t usually work on Fridays, she swapped shifts with her friend Finn so he wouldn’t have to work on Christmas Eve.

“Thanks again for taking my shift, Rey,” Finn tells her when she enters the small booth. “I owe you big time.”

“I accept payments in cash, check, or card,” Rey quips.

“Har har. Seriously, thank you.”

Rey waves her hand in the air dismissively. “You know I don’t mind working on Christmas Eve. Or Thanksgiving. Or Valentine’s Day. Or any holiday, really.”

It’s one of the perks of not having any family or close friends: she never has plans.

“Well, you’re a lifesaver. Thank you,” Finn repeats. “It’s Poe and I’s first Christmas as a mated couple, so we really wanted to spend it together.”

“I get it,” Rey shrugs. “If I had a mate, I would want to spend the holidays with them, too.”

Finn gives her a pitying, sad sort of smile and pats her shoulder. “If you want, I could set you up with my friend Snap Wexley. You know, the guy I introduced you to at my birthday party? He’s a little obnoxious, but he’s actually pretty nice.”

Rey rolls her eyes. “You act like I’m an old maid or something. I’m only twenty-two. I have plenty of time to find a mate.”

While it’s true that most Omegas get mated and pupped right at eighteen, Rey was a bit of a late bloomer. She didn't present until she was seventeen, so she wasn’t socialized to be the perfect wife and mother like Omegas typically are. She’s an awful cook, doesn’t know how to knit, and has a smart-ass mouth that repels most Alphas.

“Well, let me know if you change your mind about Snap,” Finn says.

Rey is definitely not going to change her mind, but she tells Finn that she’ll think about it so she doesn’t hurt his feelings. The one time she met Snap, his scent was so repulsive to her that she couldn’t get within ten feet of him. Even though he was clean and well-dressed, he was as appealing to her as a garbage bin on a hot day.

Not my Alpha, her inner Omega had hissed.

“Oh, and before I go,” Finn adds. “Have you heard of Ben Solo?”

Rey raises one eyebrow. “Ben Solo, founder and CEO of Solo Express, the largest shipping company in the Eastern United States? The Alpha who lives in the 6,000 square foot mansion at the end of the street? Yeah, I’ve heard of him.”

(She’s been scouting out his house for the past two weeks to find an opportune moment to rob it, but Finn doesn’t need to know that.)

“Well, just a heads up,” Finn tells her, “Every Friday, at one in the morning, he leaves the neighborhood for a couple hours without explanation. When he comes back, it’s best if you don’t ask questions or make eye contact with him. One time, Kaydel made the mistake of asking him where he went, and he fired her on the spot.”

“Geez. What’s his problem?”

“I don’t know, probably some typical Alpha aggression bullshit. You’re still on blockers, right?”

“Strongest dose that’s legally permitted.”

“Good. You should be fine, then.”

“I’ve dealt with my fair share of asshole Alphas, anyway,” she shrugs. All Alphas are the same: territorial, hot-headed, and possessive. It’s one of the reasons she’s never dated one. That, and the fact that she has yet to find one who smells good to her. “Thanks for the heads up, Finn.”

“Sure.”

Finally, Finn gathers his belongings and says goodbye to Rey. Once he leaves, she kicks her feet up on the desk, plays some music on her phone, and plots the best way to break into Ben Solo’s mansion.

***

Because it’s Christmas Eve, Rey’s shift drags on much slower than usual. With the exception of a couple of parents running out to buy last-minute presents, the night is mostly uneventful—up until Ben Solo drives to the gate in a black Audi at exactly one o’clock in the morning.

She recognizes his car immediately from her time spying on his house, and knows that it costs a small fortune. It’s one of the fastest cars on the market, has windows that are tinted nearly black, and is entirely bulletproof.

(Why would the CEO of a shipping company need a bulletproof car? Rey wonders.)

Heeding Finn’s warning, Rey immediately opens the gate for Ben and tries to keep her eyes downcast.

However, as the car passes through the gate, something inside of her compels her to look up. Maybe it’s intuition or maybe it’s stupidity, but she looks up at the exact moment that he drives by.

She makes eye contact with him through his window, which is rolled down just enough to expose the bridge of his nose and his dark eyes. As soon as he sees her, he narrows his eyes and furrows his brow. Rey gets the feeling that she knows him somehow, even though they’ve definitely never met before. A chill runs down her spine.

Something about him seems...dangerous. Sinister. A part of her is intrigued, while another part wants to run away from him as fast as she can.

The moment is brief—no longer than a second—but it feels like an eternity before they break eye contact. Even when his car drives out of sight, Rey can’t shake the image of his dark, piercing eyes out of her head.

The side of her neck itches.

One thing is for certain—she's never covering a Friday night shift again. Her gut tells her she needs to stay away from Ben Solo, no matter how captivating his eyes are.

To shake the image of him out of her head, Rey decides to distract herself with a little bit of cleaning. She picks up all of the crumpled gum wrappers from the floor, organizes the papers on her desk, and wipes down all the windows.

As she cleans, her skin begins to itch more intensely. It starts with her neck, and then it moves to her wrists, and, embarrassingly, her inner thighs. She tries to ignore it for a couple of minutes, but eventually the urge gets too strong and she gives in.

The relief when she scratches her wrists is instantaneous.

Rey attempts to keep cleaning, even though she has to scratch at her neck and wrists every few minutes. Soon, a slight sweat breaks out on her forehead despite the cool temperature in the booth.

Feeling too warm, Rey takes off her jacket and scarf and throws them on top of her bag to get them out of the way. But then she frowns—soft items shouldn't be tossed onto the floor so carelessly.

She picks up her scarf and instinctually fluffs it into a circular shape instead. Then, she carefully bunches up her jacket and places it in the center of the scarf, almost like she’s building a nest.

Yes, Alpha will be pleased, her Omega brain purrs.

Wait, Alpha? What Alpha?

It's at this exact moment that Rey realizes what's happening: she's going into heat

Itching, nesting, feeling too hot... There’s no other explanation. But that can’t be right. Rey isn't supposed to have her heat for another two months. Her cycle has never arrived this early before.

Shit ,” Rey groans. “Shit, shit, shit.”

She only has five hours left in her shift. Maybe she can stick it out until then?

A painful cramp rolls through her stomach, confirming that, no, she definitely cannot wait for her shift to be over. She's going to have to call someone to cover for her. Never before has her heat come on so quickly.

Rey grabs her phone and calls Finn, but he doesn't answer. Of course he doesn't, it's two o’clock in the morning. She tries calling him one more time for good measure, then calls one of her other coworkers instead. Again, no answer. Her skin prickles. What is she supposed to do if she can’t get a hold of anyone?

Suddenly, Rey’s thoughts are interrupted by a firm tapping sound on the window of her booth.

She freezes. Her blood runs cold.

Without looking, she already knows who’s there.

Still, Rey nearly jumps out of her skin when she looks out the window and sees Ben Solo staring back at her.

He’s standing completely alone outside the booth, staring at her with his head tilted. His car is nowhere in sight, which means he must have driven it home without her noticing.

Ben taps on the window again and stares at her expectantly. His features are hard to make out in the dark, but his eyes look hungry. Rey’s neck itches worse than ever.

Though every bone in her body is screaming DANGER, she doesn't want to make any assumptions. Years of customer service training kick into gear, so Rey plasters on a strained smile and says, “Can I help you, Mr. Solo?”

“Open the window, Rey,” he says evenly.

“S-sorry? How do you know my name?”

“Let’s not play these little games. Open the window and let me smell you.”

Rey’s eyes widen. “Why?”

Ben speaks slowly, like talking to a child. “So I can see if you are who I think you are. Now, you can either open the window or I can break it. Your choice.”

She takes a fearful step back.

“The hard way, then,” Ben sighs. Without any warning, he punches his fist straight through the small window, causing it to shatter into a thousand pieces. His knuckles come away bloody, but he doesn't seem to notice.

Rey watches in horror as Ben sticks his head through the window, closes his eyes, and inhales deeply.

When his eyes open, they're positively ravenous. His face splits into a devious grin. “Ah, you are my Omega. You have been very hard to find, little one.”

Hard to find? What the hell does that mean?

Rey walks backward until she hits the opposite wall. Even though her rational mind is terrified of him, her body reacts to his words. A whimper escapes her throat, and slick builds in her core. He called me his Omega.

Mustering up whatever sanity she has left, Rey stutters, “I-I’m not your Omega. I don't know what you think you're doing, but you need to leave before I call the cops.”

Ben chuckles, seemingly unbothered. “You’re not going to call the cops.”

“Yes I am!” Rey unlocks her phone and dials nine-one-one, but her brain doesn't let her press the ‘call’ button. Another cramp twists her stomach, more intense than the last one, and she doubles over in pain.

Alpha can't take care of you from jail, her Omega brain hisses.

Ben’s nostrils flare. “Open the door, Rey. Let me help you.”

“No, no, I don't want—I don't even know you!”

“Ah, but I know you. You're the Omega who's been poking around my house at night. I knew it as soon as I laid eyes on you. Your scent has been tormenting me for weeks.”

Rey shakes her head and scratches at her itchy mating gland. “T-that’s not possible. I'm on blockers. They mask my scent.”

“Not well enough. Now, open the door and come outside.”

A cold sweat breaks out on the back of her neck. She doesn't know what to do; her body wants him, that much is clear, but the rational part of Rey’s brain refuses to spend her heat with an Alpha she doesn't know, one who is clearly dangerous.

“What do you want from me?” Rey asks as her stomach cramps again.

Ben calmly replies, “You’re going to be my mate.”

Rey balks. If he thinks she’s going to let a stranger mate her, then he’s out of his fucking mind. “You’re insane.”

He shrugs. “You’ll feel differently when you’re stuffed full of my knot. Now, come outside so I can take you home.”

Rey shakes her head profusely. How can he so calmly fantasize about forcing himself on her? Kidnapping her?

She's about to reply when a breeze blows by, causing the words to die on her lips. His scent wafts into the small booth, and Rey’s eyes nearly roll into the back of her head with how good he smells: clean and fresh and earthy, like the desert after a much-needed rainstorm. He also smells familiar, somehow, but she can’t place from where.

Nobody has ever smelled so good to her before. Her skin feels like it's on fire.

Ben smirks like he knows exactly the effect he has on her. “You see? We were meant to be together. I know you feel it too.”

“I don’t even know you,” she mutters pathetically.

Ben sighs and calmly walks over to the locked door separating them. Before she has time to say or do anything, he shoves against the door with his full body weight. Rey chokes on her spit. He’s actually trying to break down the door like he's a member of the fucking FBI. The wood creaks in protest with every shove.

She’s truly beginning to panic now. If he breaks down that door, then she’s screwed. He'll kidnap her and mate her, and she’ll be completely powerless to stop it. Especially after they’re mated; separation is damn near impossible for mated couples because it makes them extremely unstable and volatile.

Rey’s fight or flight instincts kick in. No way in hell is she going to be able to fight him, so her only option is to run. Her eyes dart around the room, looking for a possible exit, when she spots the broken window.

It's small, but she thinks she can make it…

A large crack splits the door in half. Another cramp turns her stomach.

She needs to run before he breaks down the door and her Omega brain completely takes over. It’s now or never.

Without thinking, Rey dives out of the broken window and onto the hard, cold ground outside. Shards of broken glass scrape at her skin, drawing blood, but she ignores it.

Ben yells something she can’t make out, but she ignores it, picks herself off the ground, and runs . She doesn't have a plan in mind, just that she needs to get somewhere safe. A gut feeling in her stomach tells her to turn left and run down the street, so she follows it. Her legs take her as fast as she can go, faster than she's ever run in her life.

Yet, when she glances over her shoulder, Ben is walking behind her at a leisurely pace with a smirk on his lips. He’s not even attempting to chase her. Why

The cold December air whips at her face as she runs. Rey tries to scream for help, but her vocal cords no longer seem to work. Christmas lights blur past her periphery in red-and-green streaks.

When she finally makes it to the end of the street, Rey runs up to the last house and begins banging on the massive front door. Somebody answer, please, she internally pleads. Frantically, she glances behind her again. Ben is much closer, but he’s still walking toward her at a slow and steady pace.

Because nobody answers the front door, Rey runs around the side of the house and tries the garage door instead. Her knocks echo around the seemingly empty house.

But then, as if by some miracle, the garage door opens. Her heart leaps into her throat; somebody is going to save her! As soon as the door opens enough for her to fit, she slips underneath it and enters the dark garage.

“Please, help me,” Rey begs her mystery savior. She fumbles around until she finds a light switch, but, when the lights flicker on, there’s nobody there.

The deep voice of Ben Solo reverberates through the garage.

“So nice of you to deliver yourself right to my doorstep, little one. Saves me the trouble.”

Rey stops in her tracks and slowly, slowly turns to face him. Ben is standing underneath the open garage door with a shit-eating grin on his face. In his right hand, he’s holding a garage door opener.

It feels like all of the air gets sucked from Rey’s lungs at once. She can't breathe, or think, or scream. She’s gone completely numb.

He takes a step forward and clicks the garage door shut. It's only then that Rey notices his black Audi is parked next to her, along with a Porsche and a Tesla. She should have known that her subconscious would bring her here. She should have recognized that this was his house immediately. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

But her Omega brain, the part of her that's growing louder with each passing minute, is absolutely thrilled . More slick gathers in her core. She feels her sanity slipping. Soon, all she’ll care about is mating and knots and pups.

As though Ben can read her thoughts, he whispers, “Give in to it, Rey. I know you want to.”

No! Rey makes one last half-hearted attempt to run, but she barely makes it two steps before he grabs her around the waist and throws her over his shoulder.

“Such a feisty little Omega,” he tuts. “We're going to have fun.”

We're going to have fun, he said. Like this is all some sort of game to him.

Rey kicks her legs and hits his back, hoping that he’ll drop her, but she might as well be hitting a brick wall.

She takes a deep breath to steady herself and is immediately assaulted with Ben’s undiluted scent. Being so close to him, his scent is so strong that it nearly overwhelms her. She feels dizzy. Lightheaded. Her core throbs painfully.

Ben carries Rey up some stairs and down a hallway. She squirms against him, no longer trying to fight but instead seeking friction for her throbbing center.

“It hurts,” she whines.

“I know, little one. Almost there.” Ben purrs, a calming gesture that immediately makes her relax. A soft chirp escapes her throat in response.

He pushes open one last door, and Rey is once again overwhelmed with more of his scent. It's more concentrated in this room, more potent. Must be his bedroom.

Ben gently lays her on a giant, soft bed. Rey whimpers.

“I know,” he coos. “I know. Alpha will take care of you now.”

“No, I don't...I don't…” she weakly protests. Ben shushes her.

She could try running again, but it seems pointless now. She wouldn't be able to make it out of his bedroom , let alone his house. Even if she did make it out, who would help her? An Omega wandering the streets in heat is more likely to be raped than to be rescued.

The last of her resistance fades as another painful cramp rolls through her abdomen.

Alpha,” she moans.

Ben’s lips lifts into a half smile. “Ah, there's my Omega. Tell me what you need, little one.”

“Please,” Rey whines. Please don't make me say the words out loud.

Ben tuts and takes off his black t-shirt, giving Rey a mouth-watering view of his wide chest and toned abdomen. Alpha is big and strong, Omega brain purrs. Alpha will give us big and strong pups.

She squirms desperately on the bed, clenching her thighs together, seeking friction.

Ben stands at the foot of bed, eyes raking up and down her body. He’s far too calm for Rey’s liking, but she can smell something spicy now mingling with his scent—the beginnings of his rut. Soon, he'll be just as desperate as she is.

“I said, tell me what you need, Omega,” he commands.

“Please, Alpha, I need you.”

“Hm. Take your clothes off.”

Rey doesn’t need to be told twice. She hurriedly peels off her t-shirt and makes quick work of her jeans, all while Ben continues to watch her with his head tilted. His eyes rake up and down her body hungrily, but he still doesn’t touch her. Rey huffs. Can't he see how desperate she is for his touch?

When she's left in only her underwear and sports bra, she tries to reach a hand to her aching cunt, but Ben grabs her wrist.

“Ah ah, only I can touch you,” he tells her. He lets go of her wrist and cups her soaked underwear instead. “Is this where you need me, little one?”

“Yes, Alpha, please,” she pants. Rey shivers as he slowly peels off her underwear and bra until she's completely bare before him. His index finger lazily runs up and down her dripping slit. He's toying with her, Rey realizes.

“Is this what you want, hm? My fingers in your cunt?”

Rey shakes her head profusely. “I need—”

“What do you need, Omega?”

Rey finally gives in and says the words aloud. Her cheeks flame red as she utters, “I-I need your cock. Your knot.”

Ben’s face breaks into a full-fledged grin. “There, that wasn't so hard, was it?”

The sound of his belt clinking is music to her ears. She feels like she might explode if he’s not inside her within the next five minutes. After he unloops his belt, Ben takes his jeans and boxer-briefs off in one fell swoop. Rey’s cunt clenches at the sight of his cock: it's huge and heavy and alredy leaking pre-cum from its angry red tip.

How the fuck is that going to fit? She thinks.

Ben chuckles at her expression. “Have you ever been with an Alpha, little one?”

Rey shakes her head. She’s been with one or two Betas, but no Alpha has ever been appealing to her until now.

Suddenly, Ben grabs Rey by the hips and pulls her to the edge of the bed. She squeals in surprise, then moans when her bare cunt makes contact with his hard cock. He rubs himself up and down her slit, eyes nearly turning black with lust. The rapid rise and fall of his chest gives away his seemingly controlled demeanor.

Ben leans over and whispers in her ear, “Such a good little Omega, waiting for me. Now you're all mine.”

He nips at her mating gland, then kisses his way down her chest. Rey squirms underneath him.

Please, Alpha,” she begs.

Ben seems to finally lose his tenuous grasp on control. He takes his heavy cock in hand and notches it in her entrance. Then he closes his eyes and enters her in one brutal thrust.

Rey sucks in a gasp as his cock splits her in two. She feels full, overstuffed on his considerable length with nowhere to go. Her walls convulse around him, struggling to adapt to his size—but then more slick seeps out of her, and her body makes room for him.

“So tight , Omega,” Ben purrs in her ear. “Like you were made for me.”

Alpha is pleased, Omega brain preens.

As soon as Rey adjusts to him, Ben doesn't waste any time in setting a punishing pace. He pushes in and out of her steadily and hard , making the entire bed shake. The headboard bangs against the wall guiltily.

Ben envelops one of Rey’s breasts in his palm and pinches her nipple almost to the point of pain, then moves to the other one. Her hands scrape down his back, leaving angry red marks in their wake. She feels drunk on his scent, on the way he fills her so completely. No one else will ever be able to compare.

“Alpha,” Rey moans. “Feels so good. So full.”

“Are you going to take my knot like a good Omega?” he breathes. “Let me stuff you full of my pups?”

Rey’s eyes light up; yes, Alpha wants to give me his pups! Alpha will give me healthy, strong pups!

Ben grins. “Ah, my Omega likes that, doesn't she? You want to grow round with my pups so the whole world knows you're mine, don’t you? Don't worry, little one, I’ll give you exactly what you need.”

He leans down and sucks at her swollen mating gland, making Rey gasp in pleasure.

“Yes, Alpha, please. Fill me with your pups. Make me yours,” she begs. The image of herself, big and pregnant with his pups, is nearly enough to make her come. She's never wanted anything more in her life.

Ben grunts and seamlessly flips her over so that she's face-down on the bed, never leaving her wet heat.

He fucks in and out of her faster now, stealing the breath from her lungs with each merciless stroke. Rey arches her back and meets his thrusts as best as she can. The wet sound of their bodies coming together fills the room.

Rey can feel the beginnings of his knot forming at the base of his cock, and her stomach flips with excitement.

“I'm close, Omega. Are you ready for my knot? For me to fill you with my seed?”

Rey’s answer is muffled by the bedsheets, but she nods her head rapidly.

He holds her hips so hard that his fingertips leave bruises on her skin. With each thrust, the tip of his cock slides impossibly deeper, hitting a spot inside of her that makes her see stars. Rey comes unexpectedly and with a shout, fingers scrabbling at the bedsheets for something to hold onto. Her walls contract around him with each wave of her orgasm, pulling Ben over the edge with her.

He slams into her one last time, so deep that Rey swears she can feel it in her throat. His knot inflates, locking them together as his cum paints her insides.

While she's still hazy from her orgasm, Ben wraps one arm around her middle to steady her and bites down hard on the mating gland at the juncture of her neck and shoulder.

Rey screams in a mixture of pleasure and pain. Their minds, like their bodies, are now one. Rey is immediately flooded with a new onslaught of emotions: pride, possessiveness, and contentment. All from Ben. The feelings are so strong that it's almost overwhelming. She closes her eyes and takes deep breaths through her nose while Ben licks up the blood from her fresh bite.

“My Omega,” he purrs. The sound comes from deep within his chest, calming down her racing heart. Another rope of cum fills her, stuffing her more than she thought capable. Not a single drop leaks past his knot.

Ben lays them side-by-side on the bed, still stuck together. He hums and absentmindedly runs his fingers up and down her flat stomach.

Rey wonders how soon it will start to grow round with their pups.

“I'm going to take such good care of you, Omega. You and our pups will never want for anything.”

He presses a kiss to the back of her shoulder. Rey sighs contentedly.

Alpha will take care of us. Alpha will provide.

Behind the haze of her heat-addled brain, something screams at Rey that this is insane. That Ben has essentially raped and kidnapped her and mated her against her will.

But he’s also big and strong and handsome and wealthy. Maybe it's not so bad.

His cock, still hard, begins to twitch inside of her again. The knot prevents him from doing much more than rolling his hips against hers, but it feels good nonetheless. One of his hands reaches down and softly thrums at her sensitive clit.

He thrusts his cock in time with his hand until they both come again.

Gently, Ben grabs her by the chin so he can meet her lips in a kiss. Rey moans into his mouth—he tastes just as good as he smells.

“Merry Christmas, Rey,” he whispers against her lips. “You're going to be so happy here. I promise.”

His happiness radiates off of him in waves; it's infectious. Deep down, Rey knows that his emotions are so strong that they must be influencing her emotions, too. But she also knows that this is the first Christmas she hasn't spent alone.

The thought of returning to her dead-end job, stealing from people to make ends meet, and working on every single holiday now seems unbearable.

She deserves to be happy, too. She deserves to not be alone anymore.

“Merry Christmas, Ben.”
