Chapter Text
Beneath a bleak, nothingness sky, a glitch sighed. He, this patch of grass, and a small light seeming to come out of nowhere was all that existed here.
The Save Screen.
His humble abode.
The one thing keeping him from dying. But also keeping him from leaving. He was okay with that, in all honesty. The people he loved got their happy ending, and that was his goal from the very beginning. Depressing it may be, to see all that you called your friends and family move on, happy on the surface. However, he was satisfied. He'd much rather go insane from isolation than go insane thinking of how the ki- demon would run around killing his friends and family like it was some sort of sport.
He was happy.
He was satisfied.
He was miserable.
He tried to convince himself with those words when he wasn't either sleeping or watching the others enjoying their happy ending through some sort of screen. But, no matter how many times he tried to convince himself, he couldn't stop himself from looking forward, and thinking about what could be. And again, he sighed. No point in the what-ifs and whatnot. Maybe he could open the screen to see if Paps had finally gotten his dream car-
"* knock knock"
The glitch jumped, startled at the voice. He frantically looked around, trying to find the source of the voice. But, he found nothing.
"Heh, must have imagined it..." He reasoned, he was going insane.
He shivered, it was suddenly so... cold. But not the kind where you need warmth, no. It was the kind where you just knew something was wrong. He shook it off, it was probably nothing-
"* you know, when somebody says "knock-knock," you say "who's there."
Now, he was sure he wasn't imagining the voice. He quickly turned around, finding a figure a few dozen feet away. The figure...they seemed to be a skeleton, from what he could see. They wore some sort of tailcoat with a hood, and a rope around their neck, a Gaster Blaster pin securing it. It was pure black, seeming to move around their form. The same for their pants, there was also another pin and rope around their waist. They had wings on their back as well, seeming to resemble a crow's. They were also...barefoot? Their attire and lack of footwear however were not what he was focused on. It was their face. They had voided eye sockets, seemingly containing nothing but darkness, and a wide, emotionless toothy smile. Just like what he would do when he was angry or serious when he was sans way back then.
What the hell? Was he hallucinating?
He tried to say something, but he couldn't form any words. He began to tremble, even more, their aura, it was terrifying. It was as if he was at the end, that it would all end in a few seconds. He wouldn't be surprised if he fainted right then and there from this person's aura. He tried to speak again but was cut short.
"*now then, little glitch, would you kindly tell me why that little timer above your head stopped just a few seconds before your death?"
His voice was baritone. Very baritone. Even more than sans's. It was melodic and seemed to whisp and echo a tiny bit. So he was going to assume they were male. But he could be wrong.
Timer? Death? Yeah no, this guy is bad news. Very bad news.
He decided to keep his magic eye out just in case this guy decided to try anything. Maybe he was hallucinating? Or did this person come here just to outright demand answers?
He was so focused on racking his brain on who this person could be, that he slightly jumped when the skeleton took a step forward.
A warning to answer. The glitch thought, but how was he supposed to answer his question if he didn't even know what a timer was? So, out of sheer ignorance, he decided to make this uninvited stranger work for it.
"Heh. I don't know anything about a "timer", but I sure as hell know you don't belong here. You're not getting any answers from me, buddy. " He got ready into his fighting stance, he wasn't taking any chances with this stranger.
"* funny, i don't think you belong here either." The stranger smirked, but it quickly turned into a sneer. Promising the end. "*but i don't necessarily remember asking."
