Chapter Text
“This is getting too easy.”
Hoseok yawns as he watches the security monitors he’s hacked into as the team makes their way through the exquisite mansion they are looting. The owner is gone at a dinner party, and the staff are conveniently occupied. The sour old man isn’t going to miss a few gems anyway.
Jimin’s voice comes through clearly in Hoseok’s earpiece. “Bored, Hobi?”
Hoseok glances to a screen on his left, watching as Jimin carefully searches through Mr. Yang’s office. “Make sure you check the desk for hidden drawers.”
“Don’t be a backseat thief,” Jimin snarks. “If you’re so bored, why don’t you come join us?”
“As if,” Hoseok replies, zooming the camera in on Jimin. “I think you ripped your pants when you climbed through the window.” Jimin pauses to look down at his pants, and Hoseok giggles. “Made you look.”
Jimin looks at the camera. “I hate you.”
“Can we focus, please?”
Hoseok looks at another screen, smiling to himself when he sees his fiancé also staring at a camera, one hand on his hip. “Sorry, babe.”
Yoongi rolls his eyes fondly, returning to going through Mr. Yang’s jewelry. He doesn’t take everything, carefully choosing which precious items he wants to steal. He’d love nothing more than to clear the man out entirely, but one of the secrets to never being caught is never being noticed in the first place.
“We have about five more minutes before the staff will start returning,” Namjoon says, his voice clear in everyone’s ear. “So start wrapping up and making your way out.”
“Perimeter is still clear,” Jungkook adds.
“This man has awful taste in art,” Taehyung says in disdain. “He doesn’t even have anything worth stealing.”
Hoseok watches Yoongi roll his eyes again. “We’re not here to steal art, Tae.”
“Thank god for that because we’d have nothing.”
Hoseok finds Taehyung on the screen, chuckling to himself as he spots him standing in front of a large painting with his hands on his hips and an expression of disgust.
Jungkook appears then, walking over to Taehyung and grabbing his arm to pull him away. Everyone starts making their way out, and Hoseok smirks, considering tonight another success.
The back doors of the van open a moment later, and Hoseok spins his chair away from the monitors to grin at them as Jimin, Taehyung, and Jungkook climb in with him. Yoongi gets in the driver seat while Namjoon sits in the passenger, the two of them going over details as Yoongi starts to drive them home.
“What’d you get?” Hoseok asks, rubbing his hands together as he looks at the boys.
Jungkook shrugs off his backpack and digs into it, pulling out a velvet bag filled with jewelry. “Yoongi picked out some good ones. This— ” he holds up a ring with a large blue diamond “—will easily go for over a million won.”
Hoseok whistles, impressed. “Damn. That will definitely be more than enough to redo the game room.”
Jimin rolls his eyes, as if he won’t be playing in the game room just as much as the rest of them.
“We should get virtual reality games,” Taehyung adds. “I’ve always wanted those.”
“Any money from this job goes toward paying for your university classes first,” Namjoon chimes in from the front seat. “Once you’ve signed up and paid for your next semester, then you can redo the game room.”
Hoseok presses his lips together to stop himself from laughing at the expressions on their faces.
Taehyung, Jimin, and Jungkook all attend Seoul University. Before forming Bangtan, college was something that none of them thought possible. They all had their own reasons for joining this field of work, but Yoongi made sure everyone still kept their heads on straight — they only steal from people who deserve it, and they have to continue building a separate future for themselves in case they ever decide to stop.
Hoseok graduated from Seoul University the previous spring, and he has a part-time job in computer science. He can easily go full-time with it, but hacking and stealing from rich assholes is way too much fun to give up just yet.
Plus, as long as Yoongi is still in this, so is Hoseok. They are a package deal.
When they get home, Jungkook passes the backpack to Yoongi before hurrying inside with Taehyung and Jimin hot on his heels. Hoseok takes the time to shut down all the equipment in the van before climbing out and shutting the doors securely as the garage door closes them in.
They all share a house together just outside of the city. It’s rather large, and something none of them could imagine owning individually, but it’s perfect for the six of them. When they decided to form a team, to combine their unique sets of skills rather than working alone, it made sense to live together.
And now they are not only a team, they’re a family. Hoseok can’t imagine his life without them.
While the other three scamper off to do who knows what, Yoongi, Hoseok, and Namjoon head to the ops room. Yoongi sets the backpack on the table in the center of the room and pulls out the velvet bag from within, setting it down gently before delicately pulling out each piece of jewelry and displaying them on the table.
Hoseok whistles appreciatively while Namjoon smirks.
“This isn’t even half of what he had,” Yoongi says, gesturing to it all. “He probably won’t even notice it's missing.”
Namjoon nods in agreement, sitting on one of the stools and resting his elbows on the table. “It’s Taehyung’s turn to pick which charity he wants to donate to. After that and their university expenses, we should still have plenty left over to split among us. We probably won’t need to steal anything again for quite a while.”
Hoseok chuckles as he examines one of the rings. “A break? You know we don’t do very well with those.”
“We’ll lay low for a little while,” Yoongi decides. “We’ll keep ourselves off the radar, and we’ll take the time to figure out our next target.”
“I have someone in mind,” Jimin says as he steps inside the room.
He holds up a folder. Jimin is a collector of information that he can use for his benefit. His skills and connections have landed them quite a few heists that would originally be impossible to pull off.
“Choi Beomseok.” Jimin sets the folder down on the table, sliding it toward the center. Yoongi takes it without a word and opens it as Jimin adds, “He’s already super rich, but now he’s about to become one of the richest men in South Korea. His father is — or was — the CEO of Choi Enterprises. They raked in over a million won last quarter alone. His father recently passed, so Beomseok is set to take over as CEO. He’s about to inherit an awful lot of money, plus a multi-billion earning company.”
Namjoon clenches his jaw. “I’ve heard of him. He has a perfect image, but there’s talk of him being corrupt.”
Jimin nods. “His father definitely was. He settled tons of lawsuits claiming fraud, extortion, sexual harassment… you name it, he did it. He always settled and always managed to keep it out of the spotlight. Which means all that money that Beomseok is about to inherit is dirty. And I wouldn’t be surprised if he does business the same way his father did.”
Yoongi sighs, snapping the folder closed.
Hoseok squeezes his shoulder. “So much for taking a break, huh?”
“You knew I wouldn’t be able to resist this,” Yoongi accuses, pointing at Jimin.
Jimin grins mischievously. “I knew no such thing.”
Namjoon snorts in amusement. “Spoiled brat who’s about to inherit an empire of dirty money? That’s like number one on Yoongi’s list of intended targets. You knew exactly what you were doing.”
Jimin grins wider. “He’s hosting a banquet at his home this weekend. I can get us on the invite list.”
“I’d ask how, but I’ve learned to just stop asking,” Hoseok says, and Jimin flashes his grin at him.
Yoongi looks at Namjoon. “What do you think?”
Namjoon hums thoughtfully, straightening in his seat and crossing his arms over his chest. “I think that the banquet could be a good opportunity to see what valuables he has without having to break in or risk doing too much digging. Someone with that kind of money is going to have people keeping an eye out for hacking or any kind of suspicious activity. But a banquet guest who gets lost in this guy’s giant house? Far less suspicious.”
After a moment, Yoongi nods. “Okay.” He looks back at Jimin. “Get us on the invite list. All of us. Get together with Taehyung and figure out the best identities for us to have, we all know he’s the most creative. We’ll scout the place out during the banquet and then decide if he has anything worth pursuing.”
Jimin mock salutes and exclaims, “Yes, sir!” before hurrying out of the room.
Hoseok chuckles fondly, watching him go. Namjoon gestures toward the folder, and Yoongi slides it across the table to him.
Namjoon grabs it and stands. “I’ll look over this the next few days and come up with a plan.”
“Thanks,” Yoongi says. “I’ll start looking for buyers for what we got tonight. The sooner this jewelry is out of our possession, the better.”
Namjoon nods and exits the room.
Hoseok steps up behind Yoongi, wrapping his arms around his waist. “Can we look for buyers tomorrow? I’m tired.”
“From what?” Yoongi asks, amusement in his tone. “Watching us do all the work through your computer screens?”
Hoseok pinches his side. “Shut up. You’d be screwed without me hacking into the security systems.”
Yoongi turns in his arms, placing his hands on Hoseok’s hips. “We would,” he says honestly, smiling up at Hoseok. He stretches up on his toes, brushing their noses together. “We’d be lost without you. I’d be lost without you.”
“Well, lucky for you,” Hoseok says, his breath making the skin on Yoongi’s cheek tingle, “I don’t plan on going anywhere.”
“Lucky for all of us,” Yoongi corrects. “None of this would work if any of us left.”
Hoseok nods and then takes the final push forward, connecting their lips. Yoongi grabs the fabric of his jacket and pulls him closer.
“Bed?” Hoseok mumbles between kisses.
Yoongi pulls back just slightly, eyes flickering between Hoseok’s and his lips. “Bed. Now.”
Hoseok grins and lets himself be pulled out of the ops room.

“Okay,” Taehyung says the morning before the banquet, standing on one side of the table in the ops room while the other five sit across from him on the other side. “Jimin got the invites taken care of, and I have your identities figured out. Choi Beomseok is a bit of a show off, so he invites literally anyone to these things. Businessmen, people from the music industry, artists, and so on. The flashier the better.”
Namjoon rolls his eyes while Yoongi scoffs in distaste.
“Jimin is going to be a reporter for Vogue. Like I said, Beomseok likes to show off. He’ll gladly want to brag about himself to someone from a magazine, and Jimin has a talent for making people give up information without them even realizing it.”
Jimin takes the file from Taehyung’s outstretched hand, skimming his eyes over it. “You sure don’t leave out any details.”
Taehyung shrugs. “I like giving each character a backstory. It makes it more believable.”
Jungkook looks toward Hoseok, silently mouthing “character?”
Hoseok does his best not to laugh.
“Namjoon, you are going to be an up and coming politician. He probably won’t pay attention to you since you’re not well-known, which is exactly what we want so you can sneak off and get a look around.”
Namjoon nods, accepting his file from Taehyung silently.
“Jungkook, you are going to be a member of security,” Taehyung continues. “I did my research, and they always dress the same for Beomseok’s events — in all black. You’ll fit right in.”
Jungkook sticks his tongue out at him.
“Hoseok is going to be a producer,” Taehyung says. “Beomseok has been looking into entertainment companies lately, which means he is likely considering investing in one. There were a few other producers on the invite list, so no one will question it.”
Hoseok takes the file, eyebrows furrowed in curiosity as he starts reading over the specifics of his false identity.
Taehyung looks at Yoongi. “You’re going to be an heiress.”
Yoongi blinks at him while Jungkook snickers behind his hand. “Excuse me?”
Taehyung bites back a smile. “You’re going to pretend to be a snobby brat, just like Beomseok. You’ll fit right in.”
“I am not snobby—”
“You only drink wine that is like… ancient. And you have silk sheets. And you smoke cigars sometimes.”
“Sorry for having taste!” Yoongi exclaims. “And — and I’m a boy! I can’t be an heiress.”
Jungkook and Jimin break into fits of laughter while Hoseok pats Yoongi’s back, hiding his smile behind his other hand.
Namjoon frowns. “What's wrong with silk sheets?”
Jungkook and Jimin explode into laughter again. Yoongi crosses his arms with a huff, leaning back in his seat. Taehyung slides his file over to him.
“And I’ll be an art collector,” Taehyung states, cutting off the laughter. “He invites artists and critics to his events, so it’ll be a perfect opportunity for me to get an idea of whether or not he has any valuable art.”
“Good job, Tae,” Namjoon says, standing up to take his place on the other side of the table.
Taehyung beams at him before taking his seat next to Jimin.
“The plan is pretty simple,” Namjoon says, tapping against the table to pull up a holographic map of Beomseok’s house.
It had taken quite a few heists before they were able to afford equipment like this, but Hoseok had geeked out and insisted they needed it if they wanted to start doing bigger jobs.
“The banquet will most likely be held in this area of the house,” Namjoon explains, gesturing toward the left side. “According to blueprints, this space is literally designed for hosting events. He actually lives on the other side. Valuable items will most likely be scattered all around the house, but if he has anything major, that is either going to be in the living quarters or in these rooms toward the back of the house.”
“I’ve done surveillance on the house for the past two nights,” Jungkook chimes in. “Security is definitely heavier toward the back. But he does have quite a few guards stationed near the living quarters, too. Even when he’s not there.”
Jimin leans his elbows on the table. “As far as I know, he doesn’t have a significant other. But I was careful not to dig too deep, since we don’t want to alert anyone who might be watching out for any sign of a security threat. So it’s very possible that he has someone living with him, other than his staff.”
Namjoon nods in agreement. “If there is anyone else living there, I’m sure they’ll be at the banquet. But just in case they are not, Jungkook, Taehyung, and I will be on high alert while we are scouting. Jimin, you are going to try to talk to Beomseok, or anyone close to him, pretending that you’re writing an article on him. Yoongi and Hoseok will lie low and just observe the banquet and keep a subtle eye on security.”
Everyone nods in understanding. Taehyung shifts in his seat in both excitement and anticipation.
Jungkook glances between everyone. “So like… how fancy do we have to dress for this thing?”
Taehyung grins. “I’ve already taken care of that.”

Namjoon is the first of them to enter the banquet, dressed in a simple, yet perfectly-fitted navy suit. The shirt beneath his jacket is white with a subtle blue diamond pattern. He has to admit — Taehyung knows his stuff.
He does his best not to let his expression slip as he steps into the main room for the event, taking in the extravagant decorations and bar that is set up on one side. People are dressed to perfection as they mingle around the room, champagne glasses in hand.
A member of the staff walks by, pausing to extend a tray toward him.
“Thank you,” Namjoon says with a small bow before taking one of the glasses.
He takes a small sip as he once again glances around the room. He spots Taehyung entering, looking confident as ever in his maroon suit and new Gucci shoes. He keeps one hand in his pocket as he makes his way toward where a group stands in front of a large painting, instantly fitting in to their conversation.
Taehyung often takes on the persona of someone in the art industry whenever they do scouting at an event like this, just like Namjoon often pretends to be a politician. It’s not super far from the truth for either of them — Taehyung is studying art at Seoul University, and Namjoon was a politician before he joined Bangtan.
Jimin arrives only a few minutes later, silver haired slicked back, showing off his jawline and sharp eyes. Many eyes are drawn to him — he’s always had that effect on people.
Hoseok and Yoongi are quick to follow, and Namjoon can see Jungkook blending in with members of security. Everyone has arrived, and everyone is in position.
Jungkook lifts his hand to his ear. “Beomseok is toward the front of the room by the piano.”
Namjoon lifts his glass to his lips as he slowly turns toward the front, his eyes instantly locking on him. Beomseok is standing among a few others, laughing and talking animatedly. He doesn’t look like someone who just lost his father. At least not someone who is sad about it.
He has a slim build, but Namjoon can see the way the fabric of his gray button-up shirt clings to his muscles. His dark hair is styled neatly, pushed back from his face to expose his forehead, and he flashes a perfect smile to everyone who greets him.
Jimin makes his move about fifteen minutes later. He doesn’t rush, gradually making his way over to Beomseok while also making small talk with people he passes along the way.
When he reaches Beomseok, Namjoon watches as Beomseok’s face lights up at the idea of being interviewed. He places a hand on Jimin’s shoulder and guides him over toward the large window, turning to face him as the two of them dive into their conversation.
Namjoon knows this is their chance. He locks eyes with Jungkook and Taehyung, who both give subtle nods. Namjoon makes his way out of the room first, pretending to be in search of a bathroom.
The sound of the banquet guests fade away as he makes his way deeper into the house. He takes his time, not wanting to appear to be rushing or like he is wandering the house on purpose.
Based on the blueprints he studied, he knows he’s getting close to the living quarters. He pauses in front of a wooden display case, scanning his eyes over the pieces of pottery on the shelves. He knows without having to look too closely that these items are beautiful pieces of history and that they are worth a lot.
“Beautiful, aren’t they?”
Namjoon startles, not having heard anyone approaching. He turns quickly to apologize, but the words get stuck in his throat when his eyes land on the man standing a few steps away.
He’s maybe an inch or two shorter than Namjoon, but his shoulders are broad. His hair is blonde and slightly wavy, making it look fluffy. His skin is smooth like porcelain, and his eyes are warmer than any of the guests Namjoon has seen at the banquet so far. He’s beautiful.
“They’re from the Goryeo Dynasty,” the man adds, smiling with a hint of amusement in his eyes as he takes a step closer.
Namjoon glances back toward the display case, pretending to look at the pieces for a moment, before turning toward the man. “They’re amazing.” He pretends to be flustered. “I was looking for the bathroom and seem to have wandered a little too far. I got caught up in all the decor.”
The man’s smile grows as he chuckles softly. “Yeah, maybe a little far. Don’t worry about it, it happens a lot.”
“I’m sorry, how rude of me,” Namjoon suddenly says, bowing quickly to the man and introducing himself, careful not to let his real name slip. “I’m Lee Minjun.”
The man bows in return before gesturing toward himself. “Kim Seokjin.” He tilts his head to the side, glancing over Namjoon. “You can just call me Jin. I was just heading toward the banquet, I’ll help you find your way back.”
“Thank you,” Namjoon says, falling into step beside him.
“Are you a fan of art?” Jin asks as they walk, looking at Namjoon curiously.
Namjoon nods, smiling at him. “I am. I think it’s a beautiful form of expression with so many mediums. People can convey so many things through it. Pain, love, happiness, depression… it’s a way for people to reflect on themselves.”
They’ve stopped walking, turning to face each other as Jin listens to him.
“That’s… very well-spoken,” Jin finally says, eyebrows furrowing curiously. “Do you work in the art industry?”
“No,” Namjoon says, chuckling softly. “I’m merely a fan. I work in politics.”
Jin glances over him again, taking in his tailored suit and thick-framed glasses that rest on his nose. “I can see that.”
A member of security appears, looking relieved and then angry when he spots them. “Seokjin, there you are. Beomseok is wondering what is taking you so long.”
Jin’s previous warm smile is gone, but there is still amusement in his eyes as he deadpans, “I didn’t want to come.”
The security member clenches his jaw before looking at Namjoon. “Who’s this?”
“Relax, Hyunwu,” Jin says, waving him off. “He’s a guest who got lost trying to find a bathroom. I’m guiding him back.”
Hyunwu says nothing in response, turning and leading the way back in silence. Namjoon and Jin share amused glances, both trying not to laugh at Hyunwu’s clear annoyance.
They reach the room where the banquet is being held. Hyunwu turns toward them, opening his mouth to say something to Jin, but Jin speaks first.
“I’m getting a drink,” he declares, grabbing onto Namjoon’s arm, not waiting for Hyunwu to respond, and pulling him toward the bar. He orders two drinks and then turns toward Namjoon. “So, how do you know Beomseok?”
“I don’t, actually,” Namjoon admits. “He invited my boss, but my boss couldn’t make it, so he sent me.”
Jin snorts, shaking his head. “I’m sorry. You must be bored.”
Namjoon smiles at Jin as the drinks are set in front of them. He picks his up, stirring the straw as he continues to gaze at Jin. “Not anymore.”
Jin pauses, glancing up at Namjoon. There’s a hint of pink to his cheeks, and he seems to be fighting a smile as he takes a sip from his drink.
“How do you know Beomseok?” Namjoon asks.
“Our father’s were friends,” Jin replies. “I didn’t know him much growing up, my father likes to keep his business and personal life mostly separate. But with Beomseok’s father passing, my father is kind of taking him under his wing, I guess.”
Namjoon pockets that information for later, deciding he needs to look into who Jin’s father is, especially if he has anything to do with business deals that Beomseok might be working on. If they are going to be stealing from more than one person, it’s something they need to know in advance.
“Beomseok is about to become a very wealthy man,” Namjoon comments, curious of Jin’s reaction.
Jin rolls his eyes and scoffs, “Yeah. It’s already going to his head.”
Namjoon smiles. “Money does that to people.”
Jin returns his smile. “It does,” he agrees softly. “His father was really big into collecting artifacts, like the pottery you were just looking at. Beomseok is inheriting everything, including this thing called the Black Swan. No one really knows what it is — there’s rumors that it’s a crown or a really expensive jewel. His father always had it under intense security. It’s supposedly worth billions.” He then frowns. “I won’t be surprised if he decides to sell it. Beomseok doesn’t care about things like that. He only cares about the money.”
That is exactly the information Namjoon needed. He leans forward to ask for more details when Hyunwu approaches, looking at Jin and ignoring Namjoon completely.
“Beomseok is requesting you.”
Jin sighs, downing the last of his drink before looking at Namjoon. “It was nice meeting you. I hope you manage to have some fun while you’re here.”
“Thanks,” Namjoon replies, straightening up.
They share a smile, and then Jin turns and walks in the direction of where Beomseok is standing. Hyunwu lingers, and Namjoon looks at him, raising his eyebrows in question.
“You should be careful who you flirt with,” Hyunwu says, the threat clear in his words. “Seokjin is off limits.”
Namjoon snorts. “You consider that flirting?”
Hyunwu doesn’t look amused. “Beomseok doesn’t like people touching what is his.”
“Jin isn’t a piece of property,” Namjoon retorts, frowning as he feels anger starting to rise in him at the insinuation.
“No,” Hyunwu agrees, although he doesn’t actually sound like he does. “But he is Beomseok’s fiancé. And that makes him off limits.”
Namjoon’s heart drops into his stomach. He refuses to let himself react, waiting until Hyunwu walks away to glance in Jin’s direction. Jin is standing beside Beomseok, who has his arm wrapped possessively around his waist. Jin is smiling at whoever they are speaking with, but something doesn’t feel right to Namjoon.
He glances around, noticing that security is more intense now that Jin is in the room. He spots Jungkook perched near the doorway, looking perplexed.
Namjoon remains at the bar for the rest of the night, sipping his drink and keeping a subtle eye on Jin. He remains at Beomseok’s side, forcing smiles and participating in conversation. Beomseok never lets him stray far.
As the banquet is drawing to a close, Beomseok steps away from the group he is talking with, guiding Jin with him to a quieter part of the room near the doors. He signals toward his security, and Hyunwu instantly approaches.
Namjoon watches as Beomseok places his hand on the small of Jin’s back and pushes him toward Hyunwu. Beomseok keeps a smile on his face, kissing Jin’s cheek before stepping back. Jin shoots him a glare before letting Hyunwu guide him out of the room.
Namjoon locks eyes with Jungkook, and the message is clear. There is something else going on, and they need to figure out what exactly it is before they decide if they should move forward with the heist.

When they get back to the house, the six of them gather around the table in the ops room. They don’t even bother changing, all too eager to discuss what they learned. Namjoon tries to push thoughts of Jin out of his mind, wanting to focus on what everyone is saying.
“Beomseok loves talking about himself,” Jimin states, rolling his eyes. “I barely had to ask him any questions. He’ll officially be taking over Choi Enterprises at the beginning of next month. And his first plan is a business partnership with Kim Technologies.”
“Kim Technologies?” Yoongi repeats, raising his eyebrows. “Kim Technologies has never partnered up with another company. I mean, this is a multi-billion dollar company we’re talking about. Kim Technologies doesn’t need anyone. They do deals with other companies, but never a full partnership. Why the hell would they partner with Choi Enterprises?”
“Maybe they hope to have the larger share of Choi Enterprises?” Hoseok offers.
Jimin shakes his head. “Beomseok made it sound like an equal partnership.”
“Wait,” Namjoon cuts in. “The CEO of Kim Technologies… does he have a son?”
Hoseok grabs his laptop, quickly starting to type. After a couple moments of silence, he lifts his head away from the screen and says, “Kim Geonwu has one son, Kim Seokjin. Despite being his only heir, it doesn’t look like he is set to take over Kim Technologies whenever his father is ready to retire. There’s actually barely any information about him at all. He’s rarely made public appearances until lately. It looks like he’s been at all of Beomseok’s recent events.”
“He’s Beomseok’s fiancé.” Everyone turns to look at him, so Namjoon adds, “I met him tonight. I bumped into him while I was scouting near the living quarters.”
“That explains the heavy security presence in the living quarters even when Beomseok isn’t home,” Jungkook comments. “I surveyed that place for almost a whole week and I never once saw anyone leave except Beomseok and his security. Does Seokjin ever leave?”
Namjoon feels uneasy. “He didn’t seem fond of Beomseok.”
Taehyung looks at him curiously. “Did he say anything about him?”
“He said he’s greedy,” Namjoon sighs, leaning back in his seat. “And that he’s not only gaining a huge inheritance, he’s gaining his father’s collection of valuable historical artifacts including something called the… Black Swan?”
Taehyung’s eyes widen. “I’ve heard of that. If… if that’s true, that thing is worth, like, billions.”
“Seriously?” Jungkook demands, leaning forward. “What even is it?”
“I’ve heard a few different rumors,” Taehyung replies. “No one is really sure what it is.”
Namjoon nods. “Jin said he’s heard that it might be a crown or a jewel.”
Yoongi frowns, crossing his arms over his chest and pursing his lips. “Something doesn’t feel right about all of this. There has to be something we’re missing. I mean, did you notice how much security was at the banquet? That is way more than the average amount of security.”
“Maybe he already has possession of the Black Swan?” Hoseok says. “That would definitely be a reason for heightened security.”
“Security nearly doubled once Seokjin arrived,” Jungkook comments. “And at the end of the banquet, Beomseok made security escort Seokjin out. I don’t think their relationship is exactly sunshine and rainbows. I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s part of the business deal with Kim Technologies.”
Jimin taps his fingers on the desk. “If Beomseok is really partnering with Kim Technologies, then stealing from him just became a lot more complicated. Kim Geonwu is as corrupt as they come, and I’m pretty sure the business is a coverup for something much bigger.”
Yoongi leads toward him. “Like what?”
“I have no doubt in my mind that behind the scenes, they are involved in illegal deals,” Jimin says. “Weapon trading, drugs… I don’t know what specifically, but they are involved in something. Because I’ve seen the financial reports for Kim Technologies, and I’ve seen Kim Geonwu’s salary reports, and they don’t add up. Kim Geonwu is getting additional money elsewhere.”
There’s a long moment of silence, and then Yoongi says, “I don’t think this is a good idea then. This is way too high-risk. If Beomseok and Geonwu are partners, that is something we do not want to mess with.”
The others look disappointed, but they don’t argue.
Namjoon knows Yoongi is right. “Bangtan is successful because we don’t get involved in things like this. We’ve managed to lay low on the radar, and we’ve managed to keep our identities a secret. Trying to steal from Beomseok could ruin all of that. It’s not worth the risk.”
