Summary
Flying down the ice, Ilya takes the puck around the back of the net and backhands it towards the farthest corner of the top shelf of the Metros net. It’s a nearly impossible shot, especially at this speed, but Ilya’s executed it perfectly. Surely not even Hollander could-
Hollander’s glove whips out at a blinding speed and snags the puck out of the air, and Ilya snarls, hissed Russian profanity spitting between his clenched teeth.
The score is only 1-0 in favor of the Metros. But that single goal might as well be worth 10 with how impossible it feels to match. All they need is one goal. One.
But it seems like Hollander isn’t going to let them have it.
OR
Shane goes on a slightly different path, becoming a goalie instead of a forward and and joining the draft one year earlier than Ilya. In different positions, and in different draft years, they're not pitted as rivals against each other from the start, but they catch each other's attention anyway. Shane's goalie-ness allows him to be freer about who he is and what he wants, and Ilya tries not to trip over his skates as he catches glimpses of those freckles behind a hockey mask.

Summary
Ilya knows about Shane Hollander long before he steps foot in Canada.
Any hockey player who is serious about joining the professional leagues knows about Shane Hollander. Even the players in the KHL know about Hollander, and Ilya is no exception. The Canadian’s name has been on the lips of hockey fanatics for years, all of them eager to see his rise to superstardom in the big leagues.
There are talented rookies every year, of course. But there is something special about Hollander that Ilya can’t help but be mesmerized by: the way Hollander’s footwork is so clean and precise – so technically flawless – that each movement feels alarmingly efficient. Hockey players are not known for their grace on the ice, but Hollander puts every single one of them to shame with a kind of elegance that would almost be better suited towards figure skating if Ilya hadn’t watched him check his opponents into the boards with his own eyes.

Summary
It happens almost too fast for her to be afraid.
As soon as El hears the tires popping on Hopper's truck, she knows the military has caught up to them. She unlaces her arm from Mike's, and as soon as the truck jolts with impact, she rolls out of the truck, hitting the ground hard, almost exactly at the border between the Upside Down and the Right Side Up.
She wants to scream at the cruelty of it all. Just as she accepted hope, it gets ripped out from beneath her, dreams shattering like porcelain under her feet.
Kali was right. Happiness isn't how the story goes for someone like her.

Mikes' theory is wrong, but El survives the collapse of the Upside Down anyway, ending up trapped in the world where they killed Vecna less than an hour ago. Stuck in a foreign world with no way back, El wallows in misery before deciding to get revenge for Papa's program and open up another wormhole for her to come home. Because she was the one who created the Upside Down in the first place, so why can't she do it again to get back home?
And Mike, after accepting his grief for the first time in 18 months, learns there's nothing in the universe strong enough to get between El and her happy ending.

The Creature is first ripped from my grasp in a circular lecture hall, the room stuffy with tobacco smoke, unwashed bodies, and disease. My thief, so proud and defiant, stands before his peers and betters, his tools of treachery flashing bright and bold in his hands. The Creature – whom I had coveted so carefully in my hands – wails with the forced rebirth, half formed and exposed to the children who gawk at him. The transition into this half-life is precarious and filled with danger and agonies, but such risks are more often borne by the women, who are trained to bear their pain much more gracefully than their cultural counterparts. This is the price of creation, and men, especially these men, are unfamiliar to being denied power. Apathy, condescension, and death: these are whips of many women’s punishment by the men who feel slighted.
But this wailing, gasping Thing is not to be ignored. This resurrected meat brought before the peanut gallery – this is not Creation. This is theft. And my hands are cruel as the Creature is ripped from them.

It wasn’t until this very moment, after they did the near impossible and actually won, returning everyone who was dusted back to life, that Steve realized the depth of his lie. He can’t move on, not when he has the Pym particles in his hands and the infinity stones in a specially designed briefcase – not when he has the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fix his mistakes.

Another time-travel fix-it, where Steve returns the stones to their places at the end of Endgame, but can't leave Bucky in the hands of Hydra, not when he knows what will happen to him if he leaves him there. He decides to do something about it, and maybe discovers a few things about himself - and their relationship - along the way.
