Summary
In which Amara doesn't bring back Mary, she brings back John Winchester.
Dean is uncertain what Amara's meaning is when she brings John back, and struggles with coming to terms with the new family dynamic. Sam tries harder to keep the peace than he used to, and Cas does not get along with John at all- though he tries. Testosterone is at an all-time high as these four men struggle to coexist in the hunting world with very different ideologies.
We explore just how much the brothers have changed in the ten years without their father's guidance, the trauma they still haven't resolved, and the feelings that Dean and Cas hold for one another despite the very real and new barrier that is John.
This story begins 12x01 and ends around 13x06

Summary
Sam turned around, a tiny form in his hands. The little baby, Jack, Dean’s brain ever so lovingly reminded him, stretched and shifted in Sam’s arms, who was holding him so awkwardly that Dean winced in sympathy. He decocked the pistol, clicked the safety back on, and slid it into his back pocket before stepping forward.
He sighed deeply, standing in front of Sam, “Give him to me, Sammy.” He requested, reaching his arms out.
Sam stared at him for a long moment, seemingly trying to decipher Dean's change in behavior. Dean could hardly understand it himself. This, all of this, was all the child’s fault, Cas was dead, Mom was dead, fuck even Crowley was dead. By all accounts, Dean should be preparing to throw the child off a roof, Odysseus style, especially knowing what he came from, what he was going to become. However, when faced with the tiny infant wiggling in Sam’s arms, he just, couldn’t do it.
Basically a S13 rewrite in which Jack does not come out of the womb a fully formed adult male, but rather, an actual baby.

Summary
Cas leans back into his space, sturdy. "I promise, I would not do anything that would put myself or our family in danger."
Dean laughs at the absurdity of it all. "So what you said, about me still be being me. It's not true then?" Cas doesn't respond. Waves of grief wash over them, it's a wonder Dean can still breathe. He inhales. "Cause then you wouldn't kiss me. You wouldn't kiss me. I wouldn't want you to kiss me."
Cas does anyway. The darkness doesn't come.

There’s an archangel in Dean’s head and strangers from another universe in his house. His kid is sick, his mother is young and aloof, and to make matters worse, his best friend is keeping secrets. Again. Only this time, Dean finds out about Castiel's deal with the Empty, and he's got a pretty solid idea about what (or who) might trigger it. Knowing full well Cas must stay miserable to stay alive, Dean makes his move.
This is the way they can have each other. No matter how much it hurts.

Summary

Dean swears to the empty that he will be quiet as long as he can be with Cas. The Empty, enjoying how much pain Dean is in, deny's his request and uses his grief to taunt him. Desperate and delusional, Dean swears to keep his promise. Even after he is thrown back in time by Jack for everyone's safety. Even after there are mysterious portals being torn open throughout the world because of his heartache.
Dean won't give up. Not for anything. He will do anything to be together with Cas. Even if that means ripping out his own vocal chords to do it.
