'Alright. Hold your hand out, please.' Greg makes a fussy little noise but one bear paw is obligingly put forward. Alex holds it. 'Open your eyes.'
Greg does. Squints at him, squeezes his hand experimentally. Alex is beaming down at him.
'Am I missing something?' Greg asks, turning Alex's hand in his own, palm-up, palm-down, suspicious. 'Alex,' Greg says, fondly, squeezing his hand. 'If I've got to do some kind of treasure hunt around my own fucking flat I'm going to hang you out the window by your fucking thumbs.'
'Very Elizabethan of you, Greg.'
'Alex.'
'Erm, it's me,' Alex says, grinning. -

'Fuck you!' Alex yells at Jason in his old man way, on the screen. Alex's cheeks burn at it. The audience goes mental. He sees Greg scrawl something on his card and wonders with a little thrill if he'll be in trouble later.
Greg passes Alex the card as the audience laughs and applauds.
We'll discuss this tomorrow. Alex reads. He hands the card back to Greg, who winks at him.

Nothing really changes between them, on the whole, other than Alex doesn't need to pine like some kind of ancient forest, and Greg can indulge his many and varied daydreams of taking Alex apart. It just becomes another scheduling thing in their calendars.

Part of him had hoped it might be a 'meet your heroes' type of thing, but Greg is genuinely lovely. He's so tall, and so funny, and his voice does things to Alex's tummy. And they just fit together really well, ruler and sidekick.
Suddenly, it's been a decade, increasingly insane banter, and Alex still sometimes wakes up hard and sweaty thinking about Greg. He compartmentalises.
And now it's 2025, and he's just rinsed off the plane journey and opened his phone to see Greg offhandedly say he'd quite like to fuck him.
