I love you.
It’s one thing to know that someone cares for you, likes to be in your presence, even knows you well enough to have your order memorized for a specific restaurant. But to learn that someone loves you? It shifts something in you, your chest warming with the knowledge that you’re loved. That no matter what happens, this person is going to choose you over and over again. Three words, far from simple if you ask Dean. And Cas just said them, a smile on his face.
Out of all of the people to tell him that they loved him, he feels the least deserving of Cas’ love. How could someone so kind love someone so brash? Love someone with so much blood on their hands? With so much resentment in them for how the world’s treated them? With such a short fuse, who lashes out when they’re hurting instead of asking for help?
