Summary
During their fifth year, students were assigned the ridiculous task of dueling midair. For Severus—who barely scraped through flying lessons in first year—it was a nightmare come true.
As the others adjusted to their brooms with ease, Severus struggled to stay balanced. Then, as if the day couldn’t get worse, someone knocked him clean off. The ground rushed up to meet him—until strong arms caught him mid-fall.
It was the Marauders. Together, they steadied him and gently brought him down. The crowd stilled, watching in stunned silence.
Still trembling, Severus did the only thing his panic-ridden brain could come up with: he latched onto the closest source of warmth and safety. That source just happened to be James Potter.
James didn’t expect Snivellus of all people to throw himself into his arms. But as the raven-haired boy clung to him, James felt something odd stir in his chest. Snape was softer, more fragile than he’d ever imagined. Instinctively, he pulled him closer.
Cue James inventing every excuse in the world to get more cuddles. And Severus? He absolutely hates it. He says so every time—despite the way he leans ever-so-slightly closer to the persistent Gryffindor.
