“Soulmarks?” Kai repeated from across the table. “Why are you thinking about soulmarks? You’re, like, the only person here who’s actually found theirs.”
Nya shrugged, knowing there was no way she was going to say what she’d actually been thinking in front of everyone. “I don’t know. Why are you guys so confused by the fact I just so happened to be thinking about soulmarks?”
Cole shrugged back. “We don’t talk about them that much, I guess,” he said, and that was that. But there was something about Kai’s loud incredulousness and Cole’s quiet dismissal that intrigued Nya. Maybe she was onto something. And when Nya had a gut feeling, when she had a mystery to solve, she didn’t quit easily.

Nya doesn't have any reason to care about soulmarks, having been years since she's found her own soulmate, but a sudden realization changes everything - the unexpected knowledge that Cole shares a soulmark with none other than Nya's own brother. From there, Nya is sent spiraling into a world of scheming, suddenly determined to find a way to bring the two together before the universe can run its course.
Why? Well, there's not really anything else to do, is there?

14 years ago, King Garmadon and Queen Koko lost their son, Prince Lloyd. Every year, the kingdom would light lanterns and set them to the sky, to guide their lost son home. The end of this week will be the 14th year and time they lit the sky with their lanterns, but they remained hopeful nonetheless. And unknowing of three siblings that watched the sky with awe every year on that day. That day being the youngest child’s 14th birthday this year.
