    Tomioka Giyu's always identified as genderfluid, but since becoming the water hashira everyone's always assumed "he" was male, though he never cared enough to correct them. ..."He" had bigger problems to deal with.

    No one even knew that Giyu struggled with depression, suicidal thoughts, and gender dysphoria for years - all while working along side the wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa. Shinazugawa is rough, aggressive, and loud, but when he finds Giyu standing at the edge, the facade falls.
