The night Nicholas comes home covered in blood, Kei does not say anything.
Kei doesn't even dare to glance at him as he listens to Nicholas step out of his shoes by the doorway as he sits still on the couch in their living room— Kei's eyes are still stuck to the television as some reality show plays out. He was barely even paying attention to the shrill voice of the woman on the television, her voice scratching and grating against Kei's eardrums as she whined and complained.
It's not long before Nicholas shuffles into the living room without another word. His face is splattered with deep crimson across his face as it still drips down from his chin and onto his black shirt and denim jeans that Nicholas had wore for work earlier in the day. His arms are covered in blood as if he had sunk his arms into someone, the liquid staining his arms as his fingers curl around a small, feathery object.

Sokka receives an offer of an arranged marriage from the Northern Water Tribe. On the one hand, accepting would strengthen ties between their tribes. On the other hand, Chief Arnook has suggested Hahn as a potential match, and Hahn sucks. But with the future of the Southern Water Tribe Reconstruction project relying heavily on the good will of the North, Sokka doesn’t know how to say no.

Zuko has a solution. Sokka just wishes he’d realized he was in love with the Fire Lord before he agreed to pretend to date him.

Freezing cold fingers find their way under his shirt to flatten against his stomach, the muscle sinking away from the assault as he gasps at Sokka's wiggling, "Stop that!"

After a bit of tussling, Zuko gives up, hiking his knees to his chest and letting Sokka warm himself against him, "Why're you like this?"
Sokka thinks for a moment, Zuko's sure that he's coming up with some joke but the answer he gets instead is surprisingly honest, vulnerable, even, "Because it's you," he buries his nose in Zuko's hair, inhaling deeply again and humming cheerily from behind, "Because it's us."
'So unfair.' the thought flashes by Zuko again, mind adamant to harp on and on about how cruelly casual Sokka's being with his affections right now.
OR:
Zuko tries to hide his feelings for Sokka, but it gets harder and harder as his best friend keeps coming over drunk.
