Summary
Evan Buckley never knew who Daniel Buckley was. To Evan, Daniel was a headstone in a cemetery. He was a ghost who shared a name with Buck and never had any flowers or visitors. Not until Evan found him and decided they were family.
Evan became Buck became 'Toy Story' became Evan Buckley-Diaz. And through all of it, he wrote post-cards to a headstone in a cemetery in Hershey, Pennsylvania, making sure to keep the forever (almost) nine year old as part of his life.
So when Buck gets out of the Army, when he's healed as much as he can be, he has an idea. Buck couldn't be the only one in the military who never had family to talk to while he served. Making a non-profit to connect other veterans felt like the most reasonable decision.

Eddie found his voice. It came out strangled. “Buck, please don’t freak out, but…”
“Too late” Buck said immediately. His eyes were locked on the toddler. The kid’s face was turned into his mom’s leg, but Buck could still see part of him, he looked like….
