It was Celine’s fault, really, and Zoey was going to stand by that.
Rumi said it was because she’d seen Mira’s face for the first time and her brain had lost the ability to connect to the rest of her nervous system, which was maybe true. Mira’s face was spectacular, one of the top two faces in the world, actually, so there were plenty of reasons, okay.
It was completely understandable that for the first two to three weeks of knowing Mira, Zoey maybe, just maybe, hadn’t been able to ask, because it would be too awkward, obviously, and then too much time passed, and she just hadn’t heard it at first, okay, and—
Yeah. So she’d spent about the first month she’d been training alongside Mira not quite knowing what her name was.
Or: the doof take on why Zoey never says Mira’s name in the movie.

Summary
Zoey turns in Mira's giant bed, now occupied by only her, and a quiet pang grips at her heart, so subtle she brushes it off at first. Out of the three of them, she is the one who sleeps the most, she knows that. Even so, Rumi and Mira very often just cuddle up, speaking in hushed tones, until Zoey is pulled from her slumber.
Occasionally, when she takes too long to wake up, they head to the kitchen to start breakfast so there's food when Zoey inevitably wakes up starving. She loves that they know her so well.
Today, though, waking up alone in this huge bed stings a little more than normal. It's a weird feeling, quiet and uncomfortable, something she can't quite grasp or describe.

Or, Zoey wakes up feeling a little off. The more she pushes it away and tries to control it, the more it controls her until she can't hold it in anymore. But don't worry, her girlfriends are there to hold her through it. (It's just me projecting my feelings onto Zoey yay)

Summary
Two unfamiliar players stood across the net. The taller one was hard to miss. She was taller than the rest of the team, lean and muscular, with a high ponytail of pink hair that somehow looked more dangerous than cute. The girl beside her was shorter, but no less intense. Her hair was braided tightly down her back, and her jersey clung to the kind of arms that made Zoey do a double take.
She smiled and gave a casual wave, trying to be charming. A simple, friendly hello.
They didn’t wave back.
They didn’t do anything, actually, just looked at her. Then a coach called them over, and they turned away without a word.
Zoey blinked, her hand still mid wave. Rude.
