About the endless chatter full of grand words that actually meant very little. About how lords and ladies from every corner of the realm had come forward to compete for the hand of the princess and heir to the Throne.

Jacaerys Velaryon awakes after the Battle of the Gullet an omega, and prisoner to his uncle, now king Aegon Targaryen. With his mother dead and his brothers presumed dead Jacaerys has nothing to live for, or does he?
"Tell me Jace," Aegon whispered after a beat of silence, looking at him so deeply Jacaerys thought he could breach his very soul, "Are you upset over how I treated Helaena because you were fond of her, or was it because you realized, that's how I would have treated you if we had been betrothed? Let me tell you nephew, I would have bowed upon the floor you walked on."
"And now?" Jace whispered, tears brimming his eyes. "What will you do now, with the ruin of your fathers first line, and the heir of the iron throne at your disposal?"
Aegon did not pull his gaze away. He accepted all the hatred in Jacaerys's heart and looked at him with a softness that looked wrong on the face of a Kin slayer. "The same as all of those years ago. We were mere children, but children feel more than we think. Do not tell me what we felt was a lie."
"It doesn't matter." Jacaerys whispered. "You burned my mother. Your brother slaughtered my brother, and your friends murdered most of my family. I hate you."
