Summary
Akaza had a thing about promises. They were always made with the earnest intent for him to keep them, and in the same vein, he hated liars. Lying was cowardly. Liars were pathetically weak and disgusted him beyond measure. There was no point in saying things he didn't mean.
That was why he was always painfully honest, even in situations where lies would have benefitted him more. Akaza was a man of his word, and he'd be damned if he let anyone take that from him.
Kyojuro came to a startling realization because of this. Demons were capable of being terrifyingly human when given the chance, and somehow, Akaza saw past all his barriers and right to the core of who he was. Kyojuro was not able to hide from him like he could from everyone else. This paired with Akaza's staunch defense of him, even from his own kind, got Kyojuro thinking.
Perhaps even monsters desired a normal life. Perhaps Kyojuro could find it in himself to offer one to this particular monster.

Kyojuro was so bright that it almost hurt to look at him, yet Akaza couldn’t force himself to look away. His attention was always immediately drawn right back to the most brilliant fighting spirit he’d ever seen.
Akaza couldn’t remember what the sun looked like, but he thought it might look a lot like Kyojuro Rengoku’s soul.
Flames curled around his form in a gentle caress, eager and ready to protect him and anyone he deemed worthy of saving in an instant. Fire danced around Kyojuro as if he were the origin of every ember known to the universe. Deceptively gentle warmth could become a blazing inferno in seconds if anyone dared get too close, and Akaza warred between his self-preservation and the willingness to bear witness to his own destruction if only it meant getting closer to those flames.
Yes, Kyojuro Rengoku was the sun itself. And when he fought? Oh, then he became a supernova.

A week after the movie events everyone is settling down and things are going good. Will is paranoid Modo is going to do something bad to him, but surprises happen and panic subsides. Replaced by something unexpected, and very welcomed.
