Gendo is in jail. Misato is heading NERV. Rei, Asuka and Shinji are attending college, and 70-odd Angels in, they’ve managed to keep Third Impact from becoming a reality (politely ignoring Impacts 2.1 through 2.9, and the losses of Tokyo-3 through Tokyo-6). One ridiculous little incident and one not-so-ridiculously big ahem unwittingly herald in the beginning of the end as they know it, however. There’s a lot of sex involved, and it's all Asuka's fault.
