Rui lifted his arm as he pressed his front against Tsukasa's back. The meager plastic in his hand, hardly bigger than Tsukasa's head, didn’t do a thing to stop the waterfall of rain. Already, he could feel the weight increase as the water pooled into the ribbon-tied bouquet. Holding the flowers upside down might mitigate any water damage, but he’d assess them after their conversation. He'd have to hold his faith in the sturdiness of the flowers inside for now. The drizzle would come to a stop soon enough.

There were two kingdoms, and they didn’t like each other very much. The White Flowers thought the Black Flowers were too boring and mysterious. “Why would you want to shroud yourselves when growth happens in the light?” the White Flowers would ask.
But see, the Black Flowers would sometimes think the same thing. Why make everything obvious, when you can solve a fun puzzle? “There’s appreciation to be had in the dark,” they would say. “You blind yourselves in the brightness.”

Under the name Torpe, Tsukasa is invited to the Flower Masquerade. There, he meets the mysterious Black Flower, Dancho.
