The canoe drifts in a sea like glass, stars reflected below as above. If not for the ripples of her oar when she dips it into the water, she would think that she was floating in space. In a way, she is.
She’s not sure of her name. Details that are unimportant fall away when she slips between pools in the woods between worlds. What she does know is this: she serves . . . Someone. A lion? A lamb? A thorn-crowned king? She can’t remember . . .
But his name isn’t important. Even less important than his form. What matters is that she goes where he sends her. Helps where she’s needed.

I like that the author is building out more of the world established in Brave. It’s an interesting side of Young Dingwall. I hope that the author someday finishes this so that I can see more of their ideas on the personalities of the other young lairds.
